  • Anyone tried this before? Worth the $$?

      not

        Not tried or not worth the $$?

    RED (Pedometer, ….

    Why is it called a pedometer?

    http://www.dictionary.com/browse/pedo-

    It counts children ?

    • +6

      That's not a very tasteful joke.

      • +2

        It's not a joke.

        Why do they call it a pedo-meter?

        Pedo is the greek word for child. eg. pedagogy, pediatrics…

        • In that case, thanks for the Greek lesson.

    • +3

      From the latin root it relates to foot. You must be thinking of the greek root relating it to children.

      • From the latin root it relates to foot.

        Oh, but isn't 'meter' of greek origin? Why not use latin for that?

      • -2

        Pedo - "the greek root relating it to children"
        I didn't know Cardinal Pell was Greek…

    • +2

      @jv
      Only in the American spelling for the latter. The Greek origin for Pedo means foot whereas Paedo means children.

      • The Greek origin for Pedo means foot

        No, that is 'Podi' as in podiatry…

        Paedo means children.

        So does 'Pedo'

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedagogy

        • Sorry, it's Latin Ped for foot,eg. pedicure; the Greek form can also mean soil. You're right about Podi as foot in Greek.

        • @EarlyBird:

          but why not use the Latin for 'meter' then, rather than the greek and mixing up the origin of the word? It doesn't make sense.

        • +1

          @jv:
          It's all part of a conspiracy by the elites to obfuscate the language by conflating the tongues.

        • +1

          @EarlyBird:

          I can see by the votes above that the conspiracy is succeeding

  • Dual MIC noise suppression???

    • yeah… I was wondering that too… why on earth does a pedometer need noise suppression or a microphone!?

      • +1

        It's for when the Russians hack into your activity tracker.

    • Didn't make sense to me either.

      I can't see it anywhere in the item description on eBay or even in Huawei's manual (for the Colorband A1 - if it's the same thing?), but it is listed in the description on Telstra's website.

    • The model number is AF500 looking at the manual it can't be used as a headset - you can mute or dismiss calls only.

      https://fccid.io/pdf.php?id=2582098.

      The dual mic came from Telstra's website and may be wrong. Can someone who owns one confirm?

    gezzbus.
    not worth even $12
    PLEASE DO NOT BUY

    or buy from me for $10, anyone?

    • What's wrong with that? I think I like to use for a swim

    • +1

      Care to elaborate otherwise your comments are meaningless.

      • inaccurate, battery so so, built so so.
        in every single post of this gadget, people (that have bought) were confirming this is sucks.
        but welcome to try for $16 :)

  • Review of this unit
    http://www.xiaomitoday.com/huawei-honor-bracelet-af500-smart…

    Like many low end trackers (worn in the wrist) it seems to suffer from accuracy issues
