if JV can fully stock the fridge by breakfast I'd definitely buy one…

  • Why are they called, "bottom mount fridge" when they're clearly mounted at the top?

That's always puzzled me…."bottom mount freezer", I'd understand.

    • Always wondered the same thing!!

    • Most others call them upside down. Maybe google translate is a bit loose on Korean translation.

There are some variations of the 450L fridges.

      GB-450UPLE GB-450UPL GB-450UPLX
      Energy Consumption per year 388Wh/year 341Wh/year 299Wh/year
Energy Rating 3½ Star 4 Start 4½ Star

I'm wondering if this model is a previous generation fridge?

      • Yep that was the first thing I checked. This model is not the one that's 4.5 star/299KW/H per year.

It must be an old model they are trying to clear.

      • Thnx for that, was looking for a energy efficient fridge. your post made it easy for me

Difference in energy consumption per year
          3½ Star=388kwh
          4½ Star=299kwh
          Difference 89kwh/year x 25c/kwh = $22.25 saving per year.
          Cost of fridge:
          GB450UPLE 3½ Star $679
          GB450UPLX 4½ Star $1149
          Difference $470
Difference divided by additional cost for power
          $470 : $22.25 = 21 years to break even with a more efficient fridge.
          Just saying…

        • @maxi: and if you're paying 25c/kWh after discounts you should probably shop around for a new energy retailer, unless you're in an expensive distribution area.

        • @Lukian:
25c/kWh before discounts. I did not bother to make the calculations with discount…
More like 21c/kWh with discount which is not bad in QLD.
THAT makes it about 25 years to break even!
