What makes it a smart printer in contrast to a normal network laser printer?
This one is smart…
It prints even you dont ask for…
or say, "Dell, Print…"
No wi fi that I can see so no idea why it's 'smart'.
Has some security features, such as private printing (you can send a job to the printer, but it wont print until you enter your code… useful in office environment).
Review here reads well: http://au.pcmag.com/dell-smart-printer-s2810dn/35859/review/…
Pretty fast laser printer for $165 delivered. Not bad at all. But the real question is printer cartridge availability and price… which I have no idea on.
I have one of these. I got it for free when I bought a laptop from Dell. I have to say, it works pretty well. It's fast and does automatic double sided. Finding cartridges is rather hard.
Is this colour? It's not stated anywhere.
If not, this is not a bargain, go buy a Brother ~$164 which cheap generic toner on eBay.
You can buy a cheap monochrome Fuji Xerox for $60, which often comes on special, does duplex, and you can get ebay toners for $12.
This hardly seems a bargain…
Do you mean something like this? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/310400
yeah that looks like a similar (newer) model to the one I was referring to, they are good value printers…
Why would a printer need gigabit Ethernet?
