Great price! Around $1000 on ebay!

  • Mine finaly arrived today. Ordered last time. Still to open the packing.

Looked at the HN Acer offer but didn't like what I read in regard hardware faults and warranty issues.

    • What hardware faults and warranty issues, and where did you read about them???

Bought my lil bro this one last time. Dont worry about what they say about Acer reliability. As long as you dont buy the cheapest of the cheapest in the Acer range. Anything produced from their gemstone range onwards has very good build quality. Mine is almost 2 years old and going very well. Though I do look after it and my gemstone one dont have nVidia graphics thats burning up so so many laptops.

  • Will they come with CD's and stuff?

Mine didnt last time.. :( and had to reinstall win7 myself.

None of them do anymore. There is a partition you'll have to burn. Its money saving and the manufacturers can claim they're helping to save the planet. The LG lcd tv i bought last month didnt even come with a manual

  • What does OEM OS mean?
    - Will I get a CD/DVD for the Windows 7?
    - If not, what happens if the machine tanks, how would it be possible to reinstall the OS ?

    • It comes with the image on the HDD and there is an application to burn the system restore (Windows 7) discs to DVD. It also has a sticker at the bottom of the laptop with the Windows 7 code.

Some people have complained that the image that installs itself upon first boot (takes about 1.5 hours) was too bloated and they formatted and reinstalled with their own copy. I found the image fine. Just tweak it and uninstall or remove from start-up the programs you do you want.

  • think i like the 17" from aldi better, less ram, bigger hdd and screen, though this one has a better graphics card… ATI M92XT 512MB (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570)

  • yeah, i got one of these, i probably should have gone for a 15.6" or 17", but it lives on the coffee table, so smaller is better, quite a snazzy little unit, conscider it an oversized netbook, with decent specs …

  • I have 2 of these (or very similar) and they go great. Struggle with really high spec games, but most go pretty well on it.

  • beware, COTD are cheaters. They give u something else than shown and dont agree. I had bad experience, and they delete my comments to show in public.

  • ah crap. missed out! hope they get them again soon.

  • Arrived today. Good little notebook. Cheers poster!
