  • Any of them are a decent noise cancelling headph?

    • I use QC25 on planes and I travel a bit. Can highly recommend them!

    • Any of them are a decent noise cancelling headph?

I agree. But why the question mark at the end of your statement?

      • +1

Because it is a question. Haha.

        • Because it is a question. Haha.

Reads as a statement. Look at the previous sales where there have been discussions and reviews in detail and also google it and you'll find hundreds of reviews.

    • +1

QC35 and MDR-1000x are your best choices. The MDR has a lot more features and better sound quality. The QC are more comfy.

For all those who purchased the QC35 and haven't seen my previous posts: QC35 Issue Reports and Current Status

    Hope this helps.

    • +1

Well this is depressing to read, although I can't seem to find the outcome, some people saying to upgrade, some people saying not to. What is the verdict?

Well this is depressing to read, although I can't seem to find the outcome, some people saying to upgrade, some people saying not to. What is the verdict?

Do what you want! Don't be driven by what a few people think! Most people have no issues with the upgraded versions, some people do. Are they imagining an issue? Who knows. Are you headphones working now? If so leave them as they are.

Why fix something when it's not broken

        • Why fix something when it's not broken

You could argue that with updates to Windows as well and look at how that turned out recently for those that choose not to update. The fact is that the manufacturers provide bug fixes, enhancements and so forth so it makes sense to update products no matter what they are. Often if you don't update you get left behind, have issues with other products and so forth and given the complexity of most basic products even headphones you would be foolhardy not to update firmware and software.

      • Read the thread carefully. Upgrade if you have to, but do be mindful that one have until 01 June 2017 to get Bose to refund the headset if you believe the upgrade borked it. The current consensus is to stay with the current factory-installed version of 1.0.6.

    • Doesn't seem to be an issue if you stick with 1.0.6

This is a good deal. Just a gentle reminder to those who are still waiting for a cheaper price, there are BOSE AMEX statement credits (or perhaps Videopro AMEX statement credits for that matter) from time to time.. I personally managed to buy a pair for just above $300 before a TRS claim was made.

Im going to the US in less than a month. If anyone wants to lend me their QC35's for a week trip, I'll refund their TRS for them ;)

  • Best price ever for Bose Revolve?

    • Do you work for them? Just going by your username lol

Having used both the QC35s and the Sonys for extended periods of time, I can attest that the Sonys are absolutely worth the premium. Far superior sound quality, slightly better noise cancelling and some really useful additional features. The QC35s do have slightly better comfort (due to weighing less) and also can be connected to 2 devices at once, if that's important to some of you.

This is a fantastic price for the Sonys, and yes, I made an account just to say all that.

    • Wow that sounds good, I always hear that Bose is unbeatable for noise cancelling!

    • Sound quality is in the ear of the beerholder.

      • Sound quality is only subjective to a certain extent, not many are going to claim Earpods sound better than a pair of $200 iems. The QC35s just aren't on the same level as the Sonys, in fact to me they sound subpar against some of the more revered ~$150 headphones (M50x, HD598, Momentums). The Sonys actually sound really balanced and are non-fatiguing, unlike most noise cancelling headphones in the past. Plus they support hi-res audio, so they'll gain even more detail and transparency on most Android phones.

If anyone wants to demo the Sonys in Sydney, there are Sony kiosks at Parramatta and Chatswood westfields, also addicted to audio in Newtown have them as well.

  • Can I claim TRS if I buy from video pro eBay ? It says not valid if you buy online …

    • +1

      where does it say that?

    • As long as they provide an invoice of some sort with their ABN, you can claim TRS.

Their page says "COMES WITH TAX INVOICE", so you can.

      • anyone have experience with how strict they are with "Original" tax invoices, mine just looks like a print out/photocopy of one, not sure how you verify its "originality"??

        • +1

I haven't had any problems with PDF printouts of invoices.
A lady did complain a bit about an invoice that came in email form (so was literally a printed email from outlook), but accepted it in the end as it contained all the necessary info.

        • I bought the QC35 from VideoPro the last time they had a sale like this and had no issues with TRS.

Customs need to be able to read the invoice and see the Seller name, ABN, INV date, product description, price and GST

        • Partner had a bit of a hard time with this store at TRS counter because he showed the receipt and it only said 'invoice' and not that he actually paid?! It sounded like bullshit but she gave the refund.. EVENTUALLY. PITA.

  • Thanks OP. Bought 18

  • Anyone know if it's possible to pick the QC35 up from their warehouse in Brisbane? I'm travelling at the end of this week, and would like to take them with me.

    • I asked this question last deal so gave them a call. It wasn't going to be a super easy process but they were willing to help. I spoke with a few people from VP and they were all fantastic so give it a go

Just want to remind anyone who wants to get a QC35 to be mindful of the bluetooth stutter/dropout issue, it is a hardware defect. if you have the money I highly recommend the Sony over Bose, they are very similar performing headphones and I'd personally get the Sony just to avoid this issue.

    • I've never had stutter/dropout with mine.

    • Link to this?

        • +1

Mmm. Did you read through the threads or just the initial posts at the top?

          From https://www.reddit.com/r/bose/comments/53v70n/how_many_of_yo…

          OP:

I really love this headphone so I issued a replacement and I have the replacement pair coming in within the next 2 days. My question for everyone is have anyone of you ever experienced stuttering while your device and headphones are within a range of 5 feet?

          a few days later

After getting my second pair, the stuttering seems to have completely stopped.

          From https://community.bose.com/t5/Wireless-Headphones/QC35-Bluet…

          OP:

I just bought a pair of QC35's (firmware 1.0.6), and have a problem with stuttering/bluetooth dropouts.
I don't experience this with my iPhone 6, but all other devices whether is be my Late 2016 MacBook Pro, Yamaha RX-S601 AVR, or my HP EliteBook 742 G2 do.

a month later, after a firmware update

The dropouts continue with my HP Elitebook and Windows 10, but I think this is purely down to the underwhelming performance of the computer. Again, on my MacBook Pro and iPhone I never had these problems.

        • @eug: The range isn't very good on the base firmware not sure if updated firmware fixes this but partner too scared to upgrade due to all the issues with latest firmware and NC :)

        • @lainey13: What sort of range do you get? Have you tried with different devices?
You can downgrade the firmware to any version too btw.

        • @eug: He has an old pair where he can leave his phone up stairs (3 storey townhouse) and work outside and still have a BT connection. The Bose has troubles maintaining a connection from the top level to the middle level! It cuts out completely when he's on the ground floor and the phone is on the top floor (with one floor in the middle). Other than that he loves it.

        • @lainey13:

Hmm there's a difference there. Three floors up and outside - doesn't that mean the signal is only going through one exterior wall before reaching him?

In any case, the standard range for Bluetooth devices like these is 10m, so it might be more that his old pair has an unusually long range and the Bose just has a normal range.

Addicted to Audio still have stock of the MDR-1000x - but they are $518 which is still a great price for these headphones in my opinion.

    https://addictedtoaudio.com.au/products/sony-mdr-1000x-bluet…

    • Interesting how when Bose headphones sell for $370 a whole bunch of people say it's dumb, people are just paying for the bose name, it's just marketing, etc. But when Sony sells a pair of headphones for $500, nobody bats an eyelid.

      • I guess it is much the same when Beats was a power house, people were paying stupid amounts of money on them and in my opinion they are horrible sounding, but like with everything, people have different tastes and requirements.

        • I think there's a difference here. With Beats, they were just poor-sounding. People were literally just paying for the name and marketing. The QC35 on the other hand is well-known for its noise-cancelling ability and comfort, so you are actually getting something for the money.

I was also interested in the Sony but it costs even more than the Bose!

      • I think no one questions the Sony as much because they don't exactly have a great name when it comes to sound.

For example if you were to say you own/wear Bose headphones they would be perceived as much more impressive than Sony's. The Sonys are seen as superior in quality of sound, controls and ANC than the Bose by a lot of people (myself included), they don't have the firmware and spyware app issues of the Bose either, but the common person who has not researched whats better would assume Bose are far superior to Sony because they have built a name in sound.

So you are in fact paying the premium on the Sony's but it's for the quality and yes that may be a high price due to an over inflated RRP precedent set by Beats but given what is on the market the small amount more they cost than the Bose is not unreasonable if you don't mind the slight extra weight or lack of dual bluetooth connection.

        • +1

Sure, but my point was that some people just want to bash Bose when they're ignorant of how much their competitors are charging for similar products.

        • @eug: It's rare that a competitor charges more than Bose for the same grade of product. This is really the first time I've seen an equivalent product more expensive than Bose. Historically, Bose have always been more expensive and not necessarily better in quality.

      • Sony doesn't regulate the pricing of their products tightly like Bose does.

Go and do a camelx3 price history on QC35 and you will find it has never budged from its MSRP, not even a single day, in the years it's been available.

The MDX1000x has had $50 price cuts a few times now, and it hasn't been out long.

There will eventually be a big sale and the 1000X will be even cheaper than the QC35. I do think both are expensive at their MSRP. The QC35 is a quality product, but you can't say the same about every Bose product. There definitely is a Bose tax, especially on their sound bars and surround sound systems. No audiophile I know of would recommend them. Many (most?) of their products, are not worth the asking price, and Bose's strict dictatorship over pricing just exacerbates the problem.

        • That's part of the reason why I jumped now, the QC25's took 4 years to drop in value thanks to the 35s and that in itself was by $50. Definitely will upgrade in the future but there's no point in waiting for Bose.

Sony would have dominated the market had they started the MDRs at a more competitive price point. Starting at $100 more than the already pricey QC35s is pretty dumb imo; had the two headphones cost the same, there would be no reason to pick Bose over Sony. They would have made much more profit.

Another downfall for Sony is brand presence. Most retail stores have demos for Bose, where as the MDRs relatively inaccessible for the everyday consumer which is also the reason why people go with Bose. I reckon most people looking for ANC headphones don't even know the MDRs exist/don't know enough to trust the brand.

I reckon if Sony had played their cards correctly, all the QC35s you'd see on the plane/bus/train would be MDRs.

        • @Baebs: Correct. Sony don't have the marketing or brand recognition that Bose has. But in an ironic way, if they had price parity with Bose, people would buy Bose because they perceive Bose to be a better brand in audio (which obviously isn't true).

I think Sony needs to be cheaper than Bose if they want to wrest some market share off them.

        • @lostn:

But in an ironic way, if they had price parity with Bose, people would buy Bose because they perceive Bose to be a better brand in audio (which obviously isn't true).

That really depends on the item. I've heard many Sony devices which sound awful.
Different people have different tastes too, so Bose can sound decent. They can also look nicer than their Sony counterparts, so some money is going towards design. They certainly seem to have better support than Sony too! All that costs money.

        • @eug:

I've heard many Sony devices which sound awful.

Some no doubt do. But those won't be priced in the same range as an equivalent Bose. If you're a casual listener, anything can sound great, even Beats by Dre.

Until Bose makes some open ended cans, they are not going to be on any audiophile recommendation list.

Where Bose have always been leaders is in their ANC technology. But even that's no longer the case with the MDR1000x according to many (including headfi).

        • @lostn:

Until Bose makes some open ended cans, they are not going to be on any audiophile recommendation list.

I don't think they would make it to audiophile lists even if they did! There's a bit of snobbery going on there. :)

Where Bose have always been leaders is in their ANC technology.

… and also with small speakers that have minimal visual impact. Their little cubes sound great for the size. Yes, larger hifi speakers sound better, but they also take up a lot of room. Sometimes all people want for their home theatre is decent booming sound without the clutter. For non-price-conscious buyers, , I think Bose's Lifestyle series would be hard to beat if you look at visual impact vs sound quality.

Their larger jewel cubes sound rather meh… their smallest ones sound better.

Their SoundLink Mini speaker sounds very full-bodied too, compared to equivalent-sized speakers from e.g. Sony. They're not crisp though.

    JUST TO REMIND YOU:
Do Not Buy the Sony 1000X!
People around the world are suffering from the headband cracking. It is a design issue and cannot be fixed. For those poor guys, Sony reject to replace or repair for free and charge you 400AUD for repairing!
Hundreds and hundreds of people are trapped! You can search in either Mainland China or Taiwan Fourm for so many pictures and experiences.
The most amusing thing is that in Taiwan a Demo unit broke just before the salesman! QC35 also suffers firmware problem and dropout issue. But it is better! You can still use it while you won't with Sony after 2 weeks to 1 month.
I am registering to write to let you see!

    • You can still use it while you may won't with Sony after 2 weeks to 1 month.

Thanks for saving us. If it's as widespread as you say (2 weeks to 1 month and it will break) I think the reports would be a lot more widespread. That's the problem with negative feedback. People only post something when there's a problem. When there's no problem, they don't say anything because a working product is considered "normal". So there is a mistaken impression that the problem is a lot more widespread than it is.

      • I am telling truth. In Australia not many places are selling these. JB is selling at a ridiculous price. Very few people bought it! I think I have the ability to judge rumors and truth. While in the large markets a lot people buy this. They post because their unit fall apart! They have pictures and they tell about their experiences. These are true!

        • @Jason Genova: What's wrong with you? I just typed a little bit fast. You can choose to ignore it. It's up to you. For me. I was expecting to get a 1000x until I saw those pioneers burnt.

Just ordered the Sony MDR1000X. I had been waiting for this. Thanks

  • I've had my Audio Technica ATH-M50X for about a year now and find them too heavy and clunky for commuting, plus they get pretty uncomfortable after long periods of listening since it's a bit tight on my ears. My teacher let me test out his QC35 and I was amazed by how soft the padding was, it felt like clouds on my ears. Glad I can snag one for myself now!

    • plus they get pretty uncomfortable after long periods of listening since it's a bit tight on my ears.

I loosened my M50x headband up by stretching it outwards a bit. It lowered the clamping pressure and made them more comfy.

  • Anyone got a link to the Sony MDR1000x?
The one on the post seems sold out.

    Cheers

  • My Sennheiser MM-450Xs are faulty for third time since buying 6 years ago. Was going to repair (~$200), but might buy one of these instead.

I want Bluetooth, Noise cancel, comfy and decent sound quality (doesn't have to be top of the line 'DJ' quality).

From above comments, looks like QC35 fit the bill….Any other suggestions in that price ballpark ($300-400)?

    Thanks

  • How long did it take them to ship QC35's from last deal?
