Link? I think you are referring to the normal ones and not Ultra
I think Shermanpk was being Ultra conservative
Assuming you're referring to these, they're not the same battery type…

Do u think my eneloops think im cheating on them?
No, cos you never used them and they are still in their packet. Oh, and will it kill you to say you love them once in a while!
It's the old marathon v sprint argument. Duracell Ultra, all shiney, fast and flashy …. for a while
Eneloops, stuck in the bottom drawer, but will be going more or less for ever
and they won't forget to have dinner ready and any clothes ironed without you asking
Do these leak like the conventional ones?
That is a special feature of Duracell batts. Crazy considering how hard it is to get an Eveready to leak even when recharging the standard Energiser. The Duracell has to be checked for leaks often while re-charging. The Duracell is definitely the better option for recharging performance tho.
Ultra is same Zn/MnO2 tech as standard coppertop. Same as other alkalines. Almost identical specs, except for the price.

The only ones that make a real difference are the lithium ones.
Don't be fooled. Buy VARTA - $10 for 30xAA https://www.bunnings.com.au/varta-aa-alkaline-batteries-30-p…
So basically these are a better Duracell Alkaline and therefore are more comparable to Energiser, compared to the poor performance of a standard Duracell Alkaline?
Where did you get that idea?
Data I've seen says they (alkalines) are all much the same, e.g. http://www.batteryshowdown.com/results-lo.html
e.g. http://www.batteryshowdown.com/results-lo.html
Generics are often similar too, but may be a higher risk for leakage.
manic - are you happy with the idea that alkalines from Varta or Ikea are as good as anything, dollar for dollar?
As good as any alkaline, more or less, and cheaper. Of course you can't beat Eneloops. Ikea LADDA rechargeable seem good too.
Except you need five times as many batteries for the same life.
from http://www.batteryshowdown.com - "The difference between Duracell Plus Power and Duracell Ultra Power is more or less negligible."
Not a particularly good deal, you can get the 14 pack of AAA for $13.50 ($0.96) each, compared to the 8 pack for $8.12 or $1.02 each.
