[HumbleStore/PC] 80 Days US $3.00 or AU $4.21

100

Based on 80 Days Around The World, experience one of jv's magnum opus (beside the ozbargain commentaries). Superior to the Jackie Chan movie interpretation IMO.

You'll get a Steam code. Lowest price ever. You can get further 10% off if you have Humble Monthly membership. Also use a C/Card without international transaction fee. I already bought at AU $7 awhile ago, so AU price is my approximation.

Bought this on Android and am happy enough to buy again for the PC. I was hurting my neck staring down at the Note 3 screen for 2+ hours playing the Android version. Game is a 'phone port' but is better optimised for mouse controls and larger screen.

The story, decision making and options are told mostly through text and background illustration, thankfully in the PC version you can set the text to scroll hella faster.

You are Passepartout, you are a valet for the gentleman Phileas Fogg, thus its your call to make travel decisions at every stopover around the world from London going east. Do you cheat and go via the arctic, go through Russia, Turkey, the middle east or even Africa? Unlike the book the game combines steampunk and mythical elements and is written well to immerse the imagination of exotic places of the days past.

If you like geography and world travel, if you work at Flight Centre or travel industry and like adventure games you'd probably enjoy this game.

I wish I could +100 for the entertaining read in the deal's description.

Agree that the game is great fun. Got this on PC and I can vouch that it's worth the money HB are currently selling it for.

    • Yep, game fits the ozbargainer's psyche perfectly:

      • trying to find cheap travel deals
      • persuading important people to let you travel quicker or sooner, knowing which places to avoid, or scoring a free military pass
      • managing your budget, buying trinkets for cheap then selling it for fortune on the next continent
      • hell, it even has Brisbane and Moreton Bay, sold!
  • I'm reading conflicting reports on the interwebs… does the android version have feature parity with the pc or not?

Story wise, I think both are on par but for ease of control, PC wins.
You can buy the Android ver and play it somewhat OK on a tablet screen with a mouse connected via OTG cable, with several caveats:

      • (instinctively right clicking on the mouse) on the phone will close the game without warning
      • on the phone, its a pain having to scroll the globe and zoom in/out with the fingers (IIRC dragging the mouse cursor to screen edges didn't work)
      • story and choices are done through text. Its a bit of a PITA on Android to click the xact spot to scroll down the text box and if you click at the wrong place it will just close the dialogue.
      • IMO its way better to sit back and play the game displayed on a PC monitor, on phone its not too comfy for long periods having the screen quite close, even on a tablet.

Using touch controls alone was too painful.

      • Thanks for taking the time to share the distinctions! I certainly now know which to get even if I have over $50 in google play credit!

  • Now has been bundled here and cheaper, i have expired deal
