Data plan on the title please.

    • +3

      Supplier in title too!

  • +1

Is this available to existing customers who are currently on monthly postpaid plans?

    • Hi James, applies only to new services so existing customers can get it if ordering a new service. If you want to upgrade your current service, it doesn't apply.

      • +1

What does it mean to order "a new service"? I'm on the $18 a month plan, can I sign up for the M package?

        • I saw an option to add new service..if we specify our existing number and select the provider as other/unknown and take payments.. are you not supposed to provide the existing customers with this offer…your system is buggy..
looks like vaya doesn't want to retain existing customers..am gng to move out

        • +2

Looks like they don't learn! My wife moved to Kogan because of their stupid NEW SERVICE only promotion! They don't look after their existing customers. They try getting new customers and in the process they lose their loyal customers.

Whoevers from Vaya seeing this! Wake up before all your competitors take all of your existing customers. For example after Kogan now Lebara is giving even better offer!

      • I'm on a Month to Month plan to, can I switch and get this offer, or do I have to pre-switch and then switch back.

        • New service would be ordering a new service entirely, changing plans is not considered a new service unfortunately.

        • +14

@Vaya Ian Fagan: Might as well switch to Kogan then. I have 3 monthly plans with Vaya, and they don't know how to treat existing customers who are willing to extend their plans.

        • @james2k:
          I'll do the same…

        • +3

          @mazorn:

No reward for existing customers. Well that is a damn shame

        • @89tnp:
I already purchased the 365 days Kogan plan, just waiting for the sim.

        • +1

@Vaya Ian Fagan: That's new levels of dumb right there, when Kogan basically offers the same thing for the same price on a network many are reporting as faster.

        • +1

          @james2k:

i used to be with vaya. They put up a special ofer called turbo charge or something. Basically all it was, was paying $40 and getting your data measured in kb instead of mb.

I was getting seriously ripped off every bill with crazy data charges, so i paid it…..guess what they introduced in two months time. KB data billing on all plans!

Thanks for the special offer of lightening my wallet $40

        • +2

@Calam05: Treating their customers like trash

        • @james2k: exactly what my wife did! They don't learn! Losing all their customers for this so called NEW SERVICE only promo!

      • +3

Just imo but offering a deal to OzBargain ignoring "customer loyalty" with the whole existing customer rule is a pretty silly thing to do.

        • Thanks for the feedback. We do run a lot of promotions, some of which include existing customers and others, like this one, that are for new services only. Will pass this on though! Ian

        • +1

@Vaya Ian Fagan: What was the last promotion you ran for existing customers? I'm very curious hear! Rather than the hassle of porting out and back in, people will just leave you if you keep doing this as there are lot more competitive and comparable services out there compared to 2-3 years ago!

  • +1

Is additional data togglable? These are good as leave and forget plans for the kids, but not if they can rack up expensive bills through data usage….

    • You can switch data off at anytime and you will be notified by SMS and email at 50%, 85% and 100% data usage.

      • +10

So no way to have it automatically switch off at 100?

        • -4

More likely a $10 every part of 1GB excess. Experiencing this. SHIT is, once over you do not get any more messages for every 1GB/$10 you get charged, and the child just surfs away. Not sure if this complies to the regulations about warnings of excess data.

        • +5

@cameldownunder: "the child just surfs away". Telcos fault?

        • +3

@aboabo: Maybe. I would like to know when he is about to finish another 1GB, and not just at the end of the month when in this case he has used 3GB ( > 2GB escess ). Would be nice to know that he is about to exceed the next 1GB, after I had a chat with him.
So yes, Telcos fault no not warn my the same way it warns me on the "normal" usage.

        • +2

@cameldownunder: I pay for my kids' plans but they pay for excess. Empower them to monitor their usage and take responsibility for it. Guess what? They've never gone over.

        • @shump: Doing exactly the same. He owes me. But if I got a second warning, for him to be about to finish his first extra 1GB, I could have been a bit more "insistent". Also always loking for a cheaper plan, which costs less. May I ask the plan of your kids, or provider. Currently I am on Vaya 2GB plan / $22.

        • @cameldownunder: Eldest teen is on Vaya 3GB (same $17 deal as this, but from December), wife is on Vaya 1GB ($10), I am on a grandfathered Telstra $30 prepaid and transfer recharge credits to keep two other kids and my mum on Simplicity with data packs as needed.

        • You can do this on your phone data settings. You can setup both monthly warnings and monthly limits. Not sure about apple but it's really easy and works well on android.

      • +4

The 100% notification is practically useless, as you are already over by the time you receive it.

        • +1

There is no way to automatically switch it off at 100% unfortunately. If you are particularly concerned you can manually switch it off at 85% instead of 100%. Re the notifications on the excess data, that is something we are looking into and hope to launch sometime in the near future.

        • +3

@Vaya Ian Fagan: Switch off at 85%, and lose out on 300MB. You wish.
"Something ….. launch sometime …. near future" that's what I say when my wife says we should visit her parents.

        • +3

          @Vaya Ian Fagan:

You should offer the plans as prepaid - As that way there can be no additional charges.

When getting mobile plans for kids you don't want them to be able to spend more than you allocate, under any situation. Most other mobile carriers offer this functionality, eg woolworths have a policy that you can't exceed their monthly limit.

        • @xuuj: If you want a kids plan that switches off the data once the limit is reached then go with OVO.

        • +1

          @Vaya Ian Fagan:
≥> There is no way to automatically switch it off at 100%

What, even though every prepaid service does it? Including yours?

        • @xuuj:
yes what this guy said. I want the data to stop working when it runs out, not keep going indefinitely and automatically charge.

        • +1

          @Gershom: We are postpaid

        • @Vaya Ian Fagan: > We are postpaid

So what? Do you think we are so gullible that we would believe that you can cut data from prepaid services but not from postpaid? And don't pretend that you are only postpaid, your parent company, Amaysim, is prepaid. Do not try to bullshit Ozb'ers my friend, you will be brought to account.

        • @Gershom: Chirp chirp. Chirp chirp. The silence is deafening.

        • @Gershom: this isn't prepaid though.

      • sms is sent 48 hours after data is used.

        legit, thats their terms

  • +7

I've got two existing numbers with Vaya for over a year now. New deals are being offered all the time, What loyalty benefits would one get given that this offer only applies to new customers?

    • +2

Port out than back in or leave.

    • +6

Loyalty is dead. Have to port out.

      • +9

I'll port out to Kogan ( Terms and conditions apply ), and then NOT port back !

    • I see there's an option to add an additional service. It looks like you can create a new service (the 12 month prepaid option) obviously with the option of porting your existing number. I wonder if you can port your existing vaya number then cancel your current sim ?

And yeah, it sucks that there's no loyalty rewards for existing customers.

  • +11

Kogan plans are better. 5gb for $17

    • I can only see it for $25. do you have a link?

    • This is Optus 4G+ not Vodafone 4G, so much better coverage for calls & data speed
Also this is cheaper for 1GB per month, which is substantial enough considering wifi is everywhere

      • you can't compare postpaid to prepaid equally, because it is practically impossible to use exact 1 g on postpaid. Considering delayed billing on postpaid, you can only count 80-90% of your postpaid data allowance.

    • +2

Wish Vaya would introduce a 5GB plan for around $18-20 mark (comparable to Kogan) :|

  • +1

At first it looks like total 1GB to use over 12 months. I guess it's actually 1GB/month for 12 months?

    • That is correct :) will make a change so it is clearer.

      • Is it 1gb per month, or 12gb per year? My usage is sporadic, so it makes a big difference

  • OPTUS NETWORK

    Sheesh

  • +2

Hi Ian, considering moving over to your network, but have a few questions not readily answered in your T & C's. Just want to know have you got an way to easily monitor data to prevent excess use and additional charges? After 12 months is there a fee for exiting your network if an better deal by a rival (i.e. Kogan) becomes available? Can I cancel moving from month to month installments in advance, pay for 12 months only and get 12 months service only, as I hate rollover contracts?

Thanks in advance for your time - dscott85

    • +1

I can answer the first question for you. Vaya has an sms service where it sends messages warning you how much data you've used at certain increments e.g. 50% and 85% of your usage. I wouldn't rely on it as there is a 24-48 hour delay which renders this service pointless. You can however, check your usage online (through login details etc.).

Source: Have been using Vaya for 2 years

    • +1

You can set the data usage warning and apply data usage limit with Android phones. I am sure iOS has similar features.

      • Thanks for the information parties and Joe888, much appreciated.
I got a helpful PM from Vaya Ian Fagan with answers to most of my inquires:

        "Hey mate,

You will be notified at 50%, 85% and 100% for data usage. You can also see your usage in My Account at anytime
and disable/enable data whenever you please. We currently don't notify you at each data block, so if you go over
your data early in the month I strongly suggest you keep a close eye on it as it is $10/1GB until your data
resets at the start of the next month
There are no fees for leaving
I am not 100% sure on your last question but you will pay upfront for the 12 months, it is not paid monthly
and you can leave anytime you want, however, you won't be refunded. At the end of the 12 months you will be
moved over to the respective month to month plan and be charged at those rates unless you decide to purchase
        a 12 month plan again.

        Hope this helps! Ian"

  • It's a great deal. Now I'm going to have to shift again.

  • Is that 5gb per month on the free additional SIM or 5gb once off?

    • 5GB data only SIM, ideal for a second device and it will be free until 30 June. This offer finishes on 16 June but the actual data only SIM will remain free until 30 June. It renews monthly so you could get up to 10GB free.

      • +1

Does renewing monthly cost anything or is it free and will it still be 5GB for the data only sim?

      • So what happens after June. Do we have to pay for it or it just won't work because it's not renewed by me manually?

        • +1

You will be given the option to cancel. If you don't cancel then your 5GB will automatically renew and you will pay the standard monthly rate. Renewing only costs after 30 June.

  • +1

Vaya are definitely far better than they used to be.
Started 3 phones on this in January & it's been flawless

    • +1

I agree, no issues using them.

  • +2

Since existing users can't go on this, port to this instead: http://www.lebaraonline.com.au/360-day-national-plan.html

    Every 30 days receive:
Unlimited Talk, Text and MMS, 5GB Data, $5 international call credit

360 days for $16.58 per month, $199 upfront.

    • This is a great deal. Which network are they on? Is the 5GB data on 4G or 3G? How long the SIM needs to be activated before it expires?

      • +2

        Which network are they on?
        Vodafone.

Is the 5GB data on 4G or 3G?
4G. They also bill in KB increments :)

How long the SIM needs to be activated before it expires?
        30 days.

      • Are you talking about Vaya or Lebara? Vaya is Optus 4G and 12 months from purchase date to activate.

        • +1

Lebara has 5GB data per month vs 3GB with Vaya for the similar monthly rate.

    • How much does $5 international calls get you?

      • According to their breakdown, 20 minutes a month.

  • I wonder if they still have terrible customer service..

  • Can this use Roaming service ? Or I just need turn on that roaming function only, any fee for using roaming if I just received SMS message (when overseas) , not sending SMS and DO NOT make/received any call (even oversea). Because I need to check SMS message (eg, online banking may send code to me when overseas)

  • I was with Vaya few years. I just port out my 3 service last few months because of no benefit for OLD customer. I get all my deposit back with no issue. The customer service is quite good now. My may port back one of the service to them for the 1GB plan next month from Exetel as the promotion from Exetel finish soon (3 of my service). By the way what is the details about the free 5GB data SIM only bonus? is the free data will finish at end of JUNE ?

  • +2

What about your price beat guarantee? You have on your main web page ?
    https://www.vaya.net.au/?option=Vaya-Price-Beat-Guarantee
"Great news - the Price Beat Guarantee is available to both new and existing Vaya customers. "
"For our 12 month plans, the discount will be applied when you pay for your plan upfront. It's that simple. "
VAYA: please match http://www.lebaraonline.com.au/360-day-national-plan.html for me.

    • +3

Doesn't work like that. I tried once upon a time.

They said that for the price beat to work the plan needs to be EXACTLY the same as your plan but cheaper price.

      They said, EXACTLY the same.

    • Can they price match the Koagn yearly deals? That would be good if Vodafone was no good for you…

      • Nope Kogan is PROMOTIONAL and not EXACTLY the same.

Just go for Kogan tbh, much better prices, further saving with discounted gift cards.

  • What’s Excluded From Standard Credit?
All International calls and SMS, third party premium services (usually
starting with 19), Voicemail Call Return, Directory Assistance and
calls to numbers starting with ‘12’ are charged directly on top of your
plan. For full costs of these, please refer to www.vaya.net.au

Can you set it so that those excluded calls can't be made?

    • +1

I think you can do that online on account settings

  • -4

December 2016 I took up the 8gb unlimited plan for 22 per month paid 12 months in advance :D

    NOW THAT WAS A BARGAIN

    not this rubbish.

  • is it include call forwarding to an australian mobile number?

  • If nothing for existing customers then will switch too. Been with them for 5 plus years…
