  • Needs to be twice the length at a minimum for grass fires

    • +5

      buy 2?.

    • +1

Most large property owners would have a mobile water tank so 25 meters is plenty.

      • +6

Plus you lose pressure the longer the hose.

        • +25

if you know what I mean…

        • -2

Only if the hose you use has a smaller inner diameter than the amount of water you wish to use

        • +8

          @jackwoz:

Nope, even for the same diameter the pressure will be lower the longer the hose.

        • +1

          @barrymcbruce: That's what she said!

        • @barrymcbruce: longer isnt always better ;)

        • The trick is to make sure the inner diameter is wider than the outer diameter…

        • @Scab:

You are correct you do lose pressure the longer the hose but probably not enough to worry about:

          Example

With main pressure at 15 l/min and around 50 PSI, pressure loss difference between 25 meters of hose and 50 meters (on 19mm hose) is 2 PSI. Obviously the more water that is put through the hose will see significant difference: with 30 l/min it will be 7 PSI difference. But one would assume with the greater flow some kind of pump will be used with a greater pressure output so the pressure loss will be offset.

    • Dude.. it's not really for grass fires, you should be using a weeping hose for that.

  • Cows trampled our last hose, will look into this!

    • +7

      Human or animal?

    • +3

Use this hose to tie the cows up.

  • +2

Whoa! An inexpensive way to get a decent diameter & length garden hose! The closest actual garden hose would be this but it's shorter and $11 more: https://www.bunnings.com.au/holman-18mm-x18m-ozhose-garden-h… Anyone know how kink & crush resistant the fire hose is?

    • +2

Previous posting said cows crushed his hose …..

      • +7

Well yes but I don't have cows in my backyard ;) I was thinking more like the occasional run-over with the car or whatever.

    • Would this Ozito one fit on a standard garden tap?

      • Times 2 please.

I've got 1"Ag to the house so just need to upgrade the upstanding.

Is there a larger size click fitting that would fit this hose?

        What diameter is this hose?

  • +15

perfect for those times u wanna play fireman with the misses and then switch to something 50 shades

    • +14

I like to play Border Force officer and do body cavity searches.

    • You will need a fire pole for that

  • Perfect for that buuuuurn

  • +3

Can I use this to water the garden?

Edit: Serious question! Eg, does it have some sort of high pressure nozzle on it?

  • Does anyone here have a long hose ready in case of house fire, I mean it could be a really good investment if you prevented your home from burning down right? (after calling 000 of course)

  • -1

It seems most people are just excited have a long hose, much longer than they're used to.

    • +1

Yes, a long, red hose with an unusual nozzle :)

      • Beggars can't be choosers.

      • There's an ointment for that.

  • Inlet connection 19mm

I wonder if you can fit the 18mm Hoselink fittings onto it?

    perfect gift for Mother's day!!!!!!

Trying to post this from my mobile ago not sure if it'll work, but

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/207671/48896/p_2017051…

One thing to note; bunnings have updated the shelf sticker for these, not used the usual yellow card "temporary discount" label so this might actually be the new, permanent, price. Or not; no-one here @ my local knows.

Also, in case the photo doesn't work the how connects directly to a 20mm tap.

    This is one HOT bargain!

  • +1

Just got one (plan to use as a normal hose). Staff said it was no longer a stocked item, but there was a few on the shelf (plumbing isle). Price tag was original, but scanned at $39. Powerpass even got a further 5% off.

    • How would you rate its kink resistance?

    • What's a power pass?

  • Does this hose fight it for me?

  • Seriously, wtf is this tiny hose going to do in actual fires?

    • +3

You throw the whole hose into the fire then leg it

    • +3

A mate of mine actually planned to stay and fight the black saturday fires using only a garden hose. When the fire front got to within half a mile the sky turned black and it was over fifty degrees. He thought bugger this, got in the car and drove away like the clappers.

House burnt down but he lived. Moral: dont try and fight a fire with your $39 bunnings hose.

      • exactly, and i got downvoted for?

      • +1

if he used the voss water he would have owned that fire.

        • You should start a band of fixie riding hipster fire fighters.

  • I think Aussie Thunder bought the last one at my local store.

  • bought one for the kitchen

  • +1

Will go great with my new Firefighting pump I bought last month. For anyone in the market for one this is a good deal and a nice smooth running motor.
