Just did a bit of checking:

the dual sensor alarm is good for flaming (fast) and smouldering (slow) fires but doesn't include a battery.

the photoelectric is good for flaming but no good for smouldering and includes a lithium battery.

Batteries are included with that dual sensor alarm:

      • Sorry- my mistake. No lithium battery on dual sensor.

That one with the lithium battery is a sealed unit. You're meant to throw the whole thing out after ten years.

        • @mubd1234:

Then it better not start peeping in the near future or I will be very annoyed.

        • @shaybisc:

Yes, I would be very annoyed too… if my house was burning down!

        • @mubd1234:

In my experience , regardless of battery I've had four hardwired (two different houses) fail at the 10 year mark on their own… Almost like they have an internal timer that is activated on first use

        • @cryptos:

Almost like they have an internal timer
          Sounds like Apple technology :P

        • @shaybisc: I think you need the CO alarm if you suspect someone is spying on you :)

@dufflover: Give me a single android flagship from 2012 that can be updated to the latest release. Or an android flagship from 2013 that can be updated to the current version, and is promised future updates. Ever since the iphone 4s Apple seem to have abandoned planned-obsolescence, hell iOS 10 made my iPhone 5c faster and put off my upgrade plans for 6 months.

@Jolakot: You're one of those Android vs. Apple people huh? :P
I know a lot of Android manufacturers aren't much better except plenty of jokes about Apple phones conveniently breaking (as opposed to just being obsolete) right on iPhone +1 day. Ofcourse I know Apple doesn't actually make people drop their phones.

          TLDR; lighten up mate ;)

  • The fire extinguishers, are they the same as those being sold from Aldi from time to time? Anyone?

  • Fire blankets and carbon monoxide alarms gone already :(

  • Damn was after the co alarm, all gone.

    • OK price, didn't think that was a bargain though.
I picked up 4 from Woolies then they sold them for $2.50 (I'm guessing it was store specific) to give to the relos. I have seen more "regular" discounts by them down to ~$12.50.
Mine still isn't installed lol. Haven't decided where to put it yet.

  • Looks like there's a $9.95 shipping fee

    • Free if order over $100.

  • Still waiting for a decent offer for hardwired interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms.

    • Me too. Make sure you post on ozb if you ever find some!

  • And it's gone..

After the way Chubb/Quell handled the botched deal here a while ago, there is NO WAY IN HELL I could trust my life with their brand.
Buyer beware, this companies ethics is non existent!

  • everything is back in stock as of 10 a.m.

  • Yay thank you. Been waiting for the co alarms to be a good price.

  • Just got a refund for my order of a 2 co alarms and 5 smoke alarms :(

    • same here

      • Oh no :( I was just about to ask if anybody's order got fulfilled yet.

  • Deal looks dead. I bought a set of smoke alarms for my house and was going to buy another for family but everything is showing up as not found. I guess they cleared the stock.

  • Thought I'd update, part of my order has just arrived, got worried there as I saw some comments about orders being refunded.

  • I ordered a CO alarm, but it was out of stock. I paid via paypal. Hills Industries issued a refund, and then cancelled it. I called Hills Industries but they are unable to find the details of the order. If I view the transaction (either the original or the cancelled refund) I am unable to raise a dispute.

What should I do now? How do I get my money back?

EDIT: Interesting, Paypal listed his email as [email protected]. The email address bounced. Did everyone else get their refunds?

EDIT2: woodroffe.com.au is a parked domain. I thought paypal would protect from fraudulent sellers?

I'm still awaiting fulfilment on the order.

When I click through to raise a dispute (I won't be submitting one for another few days), the email address listed for PayPal is "[email protected]". You might have better luck contacting them through that address.

I just received my order. Phew!

      • I received mine is 3 separate orders which made it a nuisance…..startrack delivery driver doesn't follow instructions and 1 package was stolen (lucky it was just fire blanket) and my fire extinguisher (dangerous item) keeps going back to depot which they won't release/redeliver until I contact Hills.

  • My order got refunded the day after ordering. No communication or anything on their behalf. I guess the refund is fast at least…
