  • Can't you get these for free if you have foxtel?

  • Not worth it in my mind.

'Yes 110 and 220/240V. I bought the 110V US versions from the USA and they working great here in New Zealand with travel adapters.

Whether they still are I don't know. More expensive but over double the speed and av2. Have been as low as 59.99 us though.

This is a decent purchase for those on ADSL and don't transfer files much.

And it's a lot better than the $39 dollar TP-Link AV200 offering at MSY

If you are lucky enough to have NBN or you have cable speeds 50bm downstream or more, then you'll want to prevent bottlenecks, get yourself the higher end TP-Link AV1200 kit for about a hundred bucks. These things are fast and they also do power passthru.

  • Are these cross brand compatible? I have a Netgear PLW1000 that I could use these with - although would they slow down the entire powerline network to 500mbps?

    • +2

your 1000mbps nodes will continue to work at their normal speed, but mixing speeds usually causes your slower 500mbps kits to work even slower than usual.

But there's a twist: Powerline adapters work by broadcasting traffic over the power cables. They function as a hub, not a switch. That is why your network suffers slow downs as you add additional adapters to the network.

  • How would these work exactly when it comes to transfer speeds. 500Mbit, so theoretically up to 50-60MB/s, though lets say real world gets you like 15-20 if you're lucky. Won't the Ethernet port be a bottleneck (like 12MB/s max)?

  • Thank you, OP.

  • FYI, the DHP-P309AV kit (which costs about twice as much) is eligible for bonus kit offer via redemption from D-Link. Guess it's worth it if you need more than 2?

    • Yeh I had them before these and reason I baught these is one of them stopped working for no reason after about a year..

They are pass through if important to you but also atleast double the size.

Both are compatible with each other.
