    japanloops

    Japaneloops sounds better.

      Japeloops sounds even better

Good price as the charger is smart & charges individual batteries. Here is a review of the Panasonic BQ-CC17

  • Powerex 2700mAh's are better

    Hashtagblasphemy

  • Off topic, but I am always curious how these oversea shops can easily send anything with battery (e.g. Mobile Phone) to Australia when I have to go through so much trouble sending it out of the country. It also always involve high premium….

    • Legal requirement for us to send lithium battery by air is different for us then those from other countries.
Rules change for us due to safety concerns of exploding battery mid flight. Other countries have their own rules and policy that can be different then ours.

it's a nimh battery. nimh pose no problems. li-ion are the ones that blow up and burn like napalm.

      • There's a good article on lipo vs liion batteries. The short summary is there's almost no difference.
        https://scottiestech.info/2015/06/21/lithium-polymer-vs-lith…

"In short, it means that so-called “lithium-polymer” batteries are almost exactly the same as lithium-ion batteries, but they are instead contained in a flexible polymer casing."

This doesn't invalidate wolfshooter's comments, it was an interesting read though.

So, when people say "watch your lipos like a hawk", they should be talking about liion (inc smartphones and laptops) too.

If anyone interested the Eneloop family pack is on sale on Groupon as well for $34 + Postage ($10 to Perth). It comes with the following. May not be as good as this deal but a local stock, so fast shipping.

    https://www.groupon.com.au/deals/battery-deals-2

Basic battery charger for AA and AAA batteries
    Six AA batteries
    Four AAA batteries
    Two C adaptors
    Two D adaptors

    • +2

I did order two of these packs, for those that it bothers they are made in china not the japaneloops

    • +2

Yep but big difference between the overnight charger and the advanced

      • Is the Nitecore D4 any good at charging the eneloops?

I bought the Groupon pack 2 days ago since I'm starting to use heaps of batteries for my daughters growing toy collection…

Was thinking of waiting for some deals on some eneloop pro's to get more later…

Is this smart charger worth buying the pack for?

        • I have the D4 and use it with eneloops. Quite like the charger.

    • How does this compare too ikeas charger and batteries people say they are quite good and cheap

      • +1

Yeh the IKEA or Aldi charger is better value

However, would recommend investment in a powerex or similar smart charger rather than this eneloop one

The IKEA LADDA are meant to be like Enloop Pros, chemistry wise. Not like normal Enloops. I think the normal Enloops last 2000 charges, the Pros last 500 but somehow those 500 are better or something, or the power is more accessible or some shit. I have no idea but I figure Pro chemistry must be good so I'm only buying LADDAs for now. Maybe it'll increase my reaction speed in Overwatch if I use these in my Xbox One controller.

  • +1

What's the difference between this and other batteries?

    • +3

      These are rechargeable.

      • +5

These are rechargeable and are "low self discharge" so they store their capacity for longer. Much better than ordinary rechargeables.

  • +1

So what's the general consensus, are Ikea batteries now better than Eneloop batteries? Considering they are generally available and so are the chargers, or are waiting for Eneloop deals like this still the way to go?

    • +3

I don't think either is better than the other. They are apparently have same characteristics. Just get whatever is cheapest or most convenient. I'm too far away from an Ikea store and would prefer to have these posted to me. This rules out Ikea for me.

      • +1

yep, I have both and they seem similar in performance.

BUT Ikea has 2 types of low self discharge rechargeables, so need to clarify which ones or people might buy the wrong ones, there is a 1000ma AA battery and a 2450ma AA, the 2450ma at $10.95 for a 4 pack are the nice ones.

    • Well I know with 100% certainty that they are produced at FDK in Japan which does produce Eneloop batteries, I don't know if anyone else has confirmed that fact. Everything seems to point to them being rebranded Eneloops.

      • +1

Yes. These are produced in the same factory as the eneloops and some are just rebrands . The Amazon basics ones are an example of rebranded eneloops

        • Good to know, thanks!

    • I like the plain white design of the Ikea batteries for what it's worth.

  • Been wondering whether to get this or the Groupon ones.

Chargers aside, are Japanese made Eneloops still better than Chinese ones? (And I never actually heard HOW they're better, actually. I bought a lot during deals here but a few off ebay too. Never checked.)

    • +2

I'd be more focused on getting a smart charger than Chinese or Japanese Eneloops, the fact this deal comes with Japanese one's is an added bonus.

      • If your after a charger invest in the la Crosse BC 700 smart battery charger or the equivalent powerex one . This charger is way better than the eneloop one

        https://www.amazon.com/Crosse-Technology-BC-700-Battery-Char…

        • Do you have this charger? My in law melted my chargers cable. I threw out the plug but I'd love to just replace the plug and use my charger.

Can you give details on the plug, I might be able to purvhase it seperately.

          Thanks

        • @FabMan:

Can you show me a pic of what.l cable you are talking about

        • @easternculture: I threw it out, the plug for the charger La Crosse BC-700

      • What's so special about this charger? I have plenty of chargers.

Just wondering what the difference between batteries is.

        • See the charger review I linked to in this comment.

        • +1

@WatchNerd: So it can charge batteries singularly so batteries don't get over/undercharged. That's pretty nice.

  • +4

How much ENE does this cost?

  • I kinda like the look of these red ones, anyone every bought any?
    https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Eneloop-Pre-Charged-Recharg…

  • +1

Is it multi voltage? If you click on the deal it has a US plug. You'd need an adaptor?

    • In the features it says "4 position charger with worldwide voltage (110 - 240V)".

So I guess so! Just gonna need an adapter.

    • it says 4 position charger with worldwide voltage (110 - 240V) what ever that means

  • +1

    Hi guys

I would have bought this but for the US plug. I hate using adaptors.
Some site about the charger itself BQ-CC17: https://www.filterjoe.com/2017/03/11/best-budget-chargers-bq…

Anyone know where I can find an Aussie plug version of Panasonic eneloop charger BQ-CC17 (not BQ-CC16) at a reasonable price ?

    Thanks

    • Pair of pliers turns US plug into AU plug.
      (Check 240V compatibility first)

      • wouldn't this snap the pegs or break them?

        • Certainly possible, but I've done it a few times with no issues.

  • I have more than enough AA Eneloops but need at least 4 more AAA, what's the best deal?

    • Try some Aldi aaa lsd rechargeables, $5.99 for a 4 pack.
I have them, they work fine, just not as pretty.

  • I bought a cheap Aldi 'smart'charger a few years ago and it constantly throws up 'bad' batteries. Even the brand new Eneloops I purchased sometimes get singled out as 'bad'. I just ignore the message and they seem to charge fine.

    • +1

I've got the same problem.. Frustrating as hell.. I threw a few batteries out too..

I worked it out.. It doesn't like fully depleted batteries.. eg the kids toys taht are just left running drain every last cent out of the cell.. trick is to bump them allong on another charger for about 20 mins and then pop into the "smarter" charger from Aldi.

  • can't seem to find this for US$36.12 delivered…which Amazon store was this fulfilled by?

    • +1

Sold by: Amazon Export Sales LLC

      • +1

Ahh ok, they must be out of stock

  • I've always wondered if its worth spending that much on batteries.

How many uses/recharges do you guys think you need to break even?

    • +1

That's a very simple maths equation to work out, something you would have learnt in Primary School.

  • stock available again from Amazon on april 27, but pricing is now @ aud$57.75 delivered
