    When's the Kit Expiring?

  • Not cheap enough for me to be bothered with vodafone. Not when you can get lycamobile for $4.95 for first month which uses Telstra

$50 (8GB) for $25 delivered on site, has 180 day expiry instead of 30.

    • +2

      28 days in fact.

I believe it's 30 days if you activate as a data Sim (which is only way to get full 4GB?), otherwise it's 28 days on any of the mobile plans.

MyMix phone offer is 4GB and 100 minutes of standard national calls for 28 days.

1/ No epiry date for sim.

2/For me and many others in Australia, Vodafone has equal/better reception/data speeds than Optus and even Telstra. Test network in your area first.

3/ $50 for 8GB/180 days is great, 4 GB for 30 days is better for some. $25 divided by 8=$3.12 per GB, $10 divided by 4=$$2.50 per GB. Take your pick.

4/ Activate for data and get 30 day expiry, activate for phone use ie calls/txts and data and get 28 day expiry on credit. Your pick.

    • For me personally I found Optus signal better. Also found it quite hard to find a 4G wifi device on the cheap that supports full Vodafone frequencies ($69 opposed to $15 on sale/$39 everyday with Optus. In particular 850Mhz 4G was the problem)

As with the SIM packs, the $25 offering is a sim pack too. I assume it also has no expiry and may be activated whenever you please. It is indeed less data value, but for some it's great - personally using it as a backup SIM in my phone.

Sure, that's why everyone should test a network before you commit to a long term prepaid offer or contract.

Your correct about the need for the right wifi device, although they are often on sale at Vodafone for $58 with included 4GB/30 days credit.

There is no expiry for the $50 starter sim pack, but make sure you get the right one if you want data. Some of their older ones
( like the sale Harvey Norman had in Feb ) are for mobile phone prepaid plans, although you might still be able to use in the right wifi device. Like you say, great 2nd back up sim for dual sim phones, or people who want long data expiry/use.
