  • Thanks op got one for my daughter

  • +2

Does anyone know when it has to be activated by? Couldn't find anything on the site.

    • +5

The 30% recharge can only be used by 30/6 so if you want to make use of that, you'd want to activate this by 31/5 ideally.

      • So we can buy this sim with the biggest plan and after its expiry, recharge with the 365 days voucher for medium plan (5gb data) with 30% off?

Thankfully, I haven't received the sim from that deal yet so didn't use the voucher. I can buy this sim and recharge afterwards. Is it possible to use 14 GB plan now and recharge later with the medium 5 GB plan? This will make the plan for 395 days or 13 months approx. for $295 ( taken you created a new referral account with $10 credit)

        • I believe so but if in doubt, chat with the staff to confirm.

        • I thought the $4.90 deal is valid for one month after activation? Or do the credits just expire on the 30/06/2017?

        • +1

@shez1212: No, the code is valid till that date. Whenever you activate it, it will expire in 30 days

    • +1

Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 31/05/2017. Activation must be made before the voucher expiry date. Voucher does not apply to subsequent recharges. For full Kogan Mobile terms and conditions, visit koganmobile.com.au.

      • Hi,

Where does it say activation must be made before voucher's expiry date? All I can see is the Offer expires at 11:59pm AEST on 31/05/2017 but nothing about activation. Are you able to post this link?

        Thanks

        • It's at the bottom of the email after you purchase the voucher.

        • The unique Kogan Mobile voucher included as part of this product is non transferrable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 31/05/2017.

          From description.

        • @dyl:

My voucher for this deal says Voucher expires at 11.59 on 30/06/2017.

Just the offer expires on 31/05/2017…

  • So how do we get this? If I have an active Kogan SIM and I have not done any recharge before, can I and how do I do a recharge at this price?

I just placed an order thinking that the new SIM will come pre-loaded but it seems that the order was only for SIM which is free.

    • You will have to port out and back in if you want to keep the same number. This is not a recharge

      • Thanks Regie69. Post by electriccurio below answered my question.

Go to this link and buy the voucher code from here. The original link was confusing.

  • The coverage on Kogan Mobile is pretty crappy. I'm not far from the Melbourne CBD yet the reception has never been more than 3 bars. The internet is pretty patchy too with lots of drop outs. I thought Vodafone had improved their network coverage?!!

    • +1

They think two bars is a improvement from one bar of reception

    • +3

Travel Australia wide for work. Never had a problem with Kogan in any capital city or major centres.

    • +2

Reception in Sydney has been really solid for me, but I spent a day in the royal national park last weekend and the reception was horrible, pretty much just no bar throughout the whole day or no connection even with bars.

  • Any way to get this, port my number in, and then use my recent 30% off XL plan I bought a month or two back but have not yet activated?

    • +2

You should be able to just add the XL plan voucher after you use this for a month

      • Can we get XL plan now and use the Medium voucher? I hope we can do that.

        • Yep, should be fine

  • What's the lowest cost pre-paid option for low usage user after first month ? Can't easily tell from the site.

    • +1

$16.90 for the small plan if you pay month by month. Less if you pay for 90 days or a year.

be warned the delivery of the sim card often takes 5-7 business days. I am still waiting for my sim card ordered 2 weeks ago and today is the seventh business day.

    • Same with me. But it was good as this deal popped up and I wont be using that sim and will use the one which will come from this deal. More savings.

      • A family friend came form overseas just the day after i placed this order for him. Didnt realise it would take so loooooong to delivery a letter from Melb to Syd. He will stay here for 4 weeks. Finally got the letter/sim card this very afternoon. he can use it for 2 weeks….

  • I need 365 days sim card for my kids, any recommendation? For example 5GB data for whole year use and free local call.

  • I have a new sim from the old $1 deal and was wondering if this deal will give you a promo code to activate the plan and the sim? Or just starter pack loaded with the plan?

    • +1

SIM and voucher are independent. If you have a SIM pack previously, you can activate it on the new voucher.

      • So you can use existing sims you have even if they are now inactive? I did the $1 a month, now switched to Lebara today, but may go back for a month if possible…

        • Correct. I used free sims from a while back and activated with the $1 voucher.

        • @amts:

Thanks, so I shouldn't ever dispose of a sim even when ported out?

Have you have ever had limitations occur going back to one for a 'new' customer offer?

Further, would I need to keep the sim cards original number?

        • +1

          @scuderiarmani:No, don't reuse old SIM.

  • Are we meant to receive another email for the voucher code? I already have a blank Kogan sim card that can be activated but no voucher code yet.

  • Vodafone coverage is so bad, makes it unusable for me

This deal is not worth it. The internet on it is so slow as to be basically unusable. I got some Kogan $1 sims when there was the deal for $1/12GB. At home, I have a very poor adsl connection where I get 10-60kbps, occasionally 80kbps. I use it when browsing basic pages, and switch to my phone if I get too annoyed with the speed. Well, the Kogan sims are WAY slower than my crappy adsl. A lot of the time you can't even get a simple page to load. It's like having a low end modem in 1995. I haven't even opened a new one, I've only used one, and to be honest they'll probably end up in the bin. The only use really is if you're intending to download some music and you don't mind waiting 2 weeks. Edit: to be clear, it's not because I'm in a rural area or anything. My main phone is on Optus and I never have any speed problems. I can stream youtube and Netflix with ease. But whichever phone I put the Kogan sim in becomes as slow as a wet week even if it is plenty fast with Optus.

    • You describe where you are, but what about when you are somewhere else? I've found Vodafone on the whole to have more patchy and lower quality in some Sydney suburbs, especially where there are hills and valleys. If you live in a marginal spot, you want to try all the providers as some might be a lot better than others, and some not workable at all.

In the CBD I've found Vodafone excellent, but I still expect it to work more poorly on the train, on the highway and in rural areas, which may no longer be the case since they started adding 4G towers. Though no doubt their network leaves a lot to be desired. But also, so many customers left due to their miserable Ts&Cs, poor support and network outages, that I've found there are times that everyone around me on Optus seem to be fighting for reception and Vodafone is solid. Go figure…

  • Are Kogan SIMs available for purchase at any brick and mortar shops?

  • The Kogan $4.90 14GB 30 day SIM:
    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-mobile-prepaid-voucher-co…
…. is supposed to end today (unless it gets extended again).

If you purchase one today, the SIM is going to take several days to arrive. So I guess they can't expect you to activate it the day you purchase it. So when is the latest date you can activate it?

    • It should be 11.59 on 30/06/2017.

I've bought one a few days ago (3 business days so far).. still waiting for the sim to arrive. But my voucher says must activate by 11.59 on 30/06/2017.

So I'm hoping it's going to arrive before 30/6/2017.. if not I would of wasted $4.90.

      • LOL. The last Kogan SIMs I ordered took about 11 days. I'm on my last 14GB SIM. But I didn't want to order more if the expiry was too short. Thanks.

I wonder if they'll extend it again. Maybe I better buy only one SIM just in case. (Already have a 50GB/month data SIM, the 14GB Kogan SIM I've activated. Both together should hopefully take me through to the end of June… Yeah, just one more SIM.) :-p

        • Well 11 days is alright.. as long as its not pass the voucher expiry date.

On a side note. If I have an old kogan sim can I activate this $4.90 deal? Or do I have to wait for the sim that comes with the order to arrive?

        • @shez1212:
seems like my question was already answered… above.

          playing the waiting game..
