Logitech Harmony Home Hub (Refurbished) - US$80.97 (~AU$107.43) Delivered @ OutletMP3 eBay

70

So been researching all things home automation since getting my Google Home. Nexy on the hit list is a Harmony Hub. It has native integration with the GH and also IFTTT compatibility.

These units usually go for around $250 on ebay australia.

This unit is refurbished, but they have sold almost 1000 of these and the feedback is very impressive.

The power is rated as 110-240 so it's fine for here. Also, it's powered by an ordinary 5v phone charger and connects standard micro USB cable.

The box includes:

Harmony Home Hub
IR Mini Blaster
USB cable
AC adapter

Hope it helps someone :)

  • So an example use for this would be…?

It's a hub, which brings peace and harmony to your home..

It's a universal remote that also connects to your wifi and bluetooth. from there it's able to control over 250,000 devices according to the good people at Logitech.

Big plus for me is it will control the AC unit above the TV too

  • It's a universal remote without a physical remote but you can use an app on your phone to do the controlling. This deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/299013 would have been better as it comes with a remote and the hub.

Graysonline have 1 Panasonic Hub refurb available for $32.76 use code C20Shop at checkout , rrp $220

    • That isn't the same thing. The Panasonic Hub is used to connect to other Panasonic home automation devices. It won't act as a universal remote.

      • Oh ok, didn't really know what I was posting just saw the header hub n remembered the hub I saw on grays lol

As I understand it, the Harmony Home Hub was renamed the Harmony Hub (http://au.pcmag.com/logitech-harmony-home-hub/24763/review/l… and http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/harmony-hub), and it's what is included with the Logitech Smart Control (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BQ5RYI4?th=1) that is now US$99 (was cheaper recently - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/299013 ….. or really cheap if you were lucky https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/239650)

Basically, if you just have the hub, then you can use an app on your mobile to control devices like television sets etc. Basically pretty much anything that can be controlled by infra red. As it uses wifi (as well as RF if you have the dedicated remote) then the hub can be hidden away - mine is in a separate room with all the hifi/tv kit. It can also control, and be controlled, by certain home automation systems - although some of that is limited in Australia due to different frequencies. My z-wave based home automation system has a plugin that talks to the hub so I can turn on/off the tv (for example) using that. I can also send commands via my google home to run activities on the hub. Basically it's a neat bit of kit if you are that way inclined.

Personally though, I'd pass on paying over $100 for a refurbished older model without the physical remote.

    • Thanks for the info. what's the difference between the old one and the new one?

      • As far as the operation of the hub goes I don't think there is any difference.

I'd also recommend holding out for a deal on a hub and remote like the Smart Control rather than $107 on this refurbed hub only though.

        • OK cool. Thanks

  • It saves you money …….You will spend so much time setting it up that you won't have time to shop for other bargains ….. If using iftt.

I considered a home hub but then thought another device using electricity 24x7.

    • Hmm good point. I wonder what the watts used while waiting would be. Not much coming from a 5w USB charger…

    • Not sure if it's enough to worry about. Power supply is rated at 5W, if it ran at 100% draw which is unlikely it's 44kWh a year. I'd be surprised if it was actually more than a quarter of that in reality.

Amazon just today had this (now out of stock), with both the hub and the remote, shipping to Australia for USD$80.

    • Thanks t3chshopper. The hub and remote deal you linked to is now available for pre-order (available 28th) for USD 69.99. Prime membership required. I signed up for free 30-day Prime membership and also claimed the USD 5 referral credit for first purchase using the Amazon mobile app. I bought 2. (Already have one bought on the $80 JB HiFi deal. Brilliant remotes.). Standard shipping. Due to arrive between 5 and 12 May. AUD price breakdown (rounded): 2 Remotes - AUD 193. Shipping - AUD 19. Referral discount - AUD 7. Total AUD 205 - for 2 delivered. Winner ! I don't have time now but will probs post as a new deal when I do - which may or may not be today. If anybody else wants to in the meantime - feel free.

      • Went to post this but it is no longer available.

      • Glad to hear that my comment helped someone out!

I have the Harmony Elite, with the awesome RF remote and hub. Love it.
