Overview

Meet your Google Assistant
Ask it questions. Tell it to do things. To start, just say 'OK Google', or touch and hold the Home button. And the more you use it, the more useful it gets. It’s your own personal Google, always ready to help.

Your stuff, unlimited
Never lose a memory with unlimited online storage* for your photos and videos, all stored at full resolution in Google Photos. And use Smart Storage to let Pixel help free up space when you need it. Just set it up once and say goodbye to those annoying “storage is full” warnings.
*Unlimited online backups for photos and videos taken with your Pixel phone. Requires Google account. Data rates may apply.

The highest rated smartphone camera
With a best-ever 89 DxOMark Mobile score*, Pixel's camera lets you take brilliant photos in low light, bright light or any light. Catch action shots as they happen with Smartburst. Once you’ve captured the moment, Google Photos keeps all your photos backed up and organised, so that you can find and share them faster than ever
*Camera results based on Sept. 2016 DxOMark Mobile tests performed by DxO Labs. DxOMark Mobile is a registered trademark of DxO Labs.

Your closest friends, closer
Google Duo is a simple video calling app for Android & iOS that brings you face-to-face with just a tap. And with the Knock Knock feature, you’ll see the caller before you pick up, so that you never miss a moment.

Your chats, your style
Google Allo is a smart messaging app that helps you to say more and do more. Bring the Google Assistant into your group chats to find restaurants nearby, share videos to watch, and get answers. Express yourself better with stickers, Smart Reply and much more.

Your battery, charged fast
When you need a quick charge, the reversible USB Type-C charger gets you up to 7 hours of battery life* in just 15 minutes. And when you aren't using your phone, Doze automatically puts it into a sleep state to extend your battery life, so that you can always move at your speed.
*Battery claims based on charging with the included charger and a mix of talk, data and standby use. An active display will use battery more quickly.

~ 10% off, a bit like the apple 10% off that seems to be available every second week.

Thats a lot of coin for a 5" phone, I know there are other brands at a similar price, it seems a shame that Google started out offering cheaper alternatives, now amongst the most expensive…

  • +4

That price and only 2 years worth of updates. Sheesh!

    • +4

And that 2 years started 6 months ago.

So you have 18 months to enjoy owning a $1000 fully supported phone.

I replaced my Nexus with an iPhone.

    • 2.5 years including security updates. Most people upgrade within 2 years anyway

  • lol phone

  • +7

I love android and have been a happy Nexus owner (5 then 6p) for almost 4 years.

But at this price point I may just buy an iPhone for my next phone for better after sales service and build quality.

    • +7

Not to mention resale value and more years getting security and software updates.

    • +1

As an android and Nexus user since the Galaxy Nexus, even I'm starting to sway this way. The after sales support, software updates and resale value are all big pluses for iPhones

    • -6

Don't forget by changing to iOS you're now not using an OS made by the world's largest internet advertiser to collect every single piece of data it can about you which is surely worth considering.

    • I will instead buy last year's phone for half of the price and 1 year more update

  • Do they not stock the XL 128GB anymore?

  • really ? $1.000 for a phone ??????

    Xiaomi anyone ?

    • +5

      $1 I wish

      • -1

Yeah, sorry… $1,000. In my country it's vice versa. $1.000 (as in $1.23,45).

    • Guessing you mean $1000 instead of $1; That has been the standard for flagship phones for a while.

  • +3

Hmm, I can already pick up the LG G6 64GB for less than this. And the S7 can be had for less than $600.

And I can add a microSD card to those…

As such I'd say they were still $100-200 overpriced at best, to top of these small price cuts.

    • +1

I'd rather pay the extra to avoid the bootloop lotto.

      • Well the G5 hasn't particularly seen previous bootloop issues, and the Pixel has seen microphone problems.

The less said about Samsung's hardware issues, the better.

I wouldn't say any phone was better or worse on this.

  • and is it actually made by google

    • +4

no, HTC made it for google

  • what is a google pixel

    • Let me google what definition of pixel is….

      • -1

you won't get the answer you're looking for

  • Enter value getting an iPhone

  • -6

S7 camera still blows the pixels away

  • Think I'd prefer a xiaomi mi mix for less than that!

  • I've had the Google nexus since Dec 2015 and the battery lasts about 4-5 hours now. And that's not even using it constantly. I'm lucky to get 90 Mons of constant use. So don't expect this to last you years.

With way, this is still a seriously average phone for the price. Not sure why you wouldn't just buy the S8

  • +1

+ing for the effort, but for the deal itself, pass

Google have rocks in their heads with the pricing of these devices…"Stock Android" and "Quick updates" don't mean much to the average/mainstream user, especially considering these phones haven't had the best of runs when it comes to bugs…

    • +1

Cheers bud. I have exactly the same opinion as you - doesn't seem like a deal to me but it was $100 off Australian stock so thought it was worth posting.

    • +1

Good point. I should have said that I have the noise cancellation bug in my Nexus 6P so people can't hear me when I talk. Pretty fundamental bug that they have failed to address.

    • i think you are also paying premium for customer service. I think thats what people miss. The after sales support is meant to be pretty good.
