  • According to my optometrist contact lense comfort are of personal preference. I've always been a bauch and lomb pure vision person. I'm actually trialing Acuvue for 6 months (2wk x 12). In my opinion they don't last as long as they should as I'd get dry/itchy eyes and a bit of blurry vision after about a week. Definitely going back to bauch and lomb after this is finished!! Do you think you could do a deal on B&L contacts as well?

    • im trial contacts atm too! and honestly it can be a pain to put them on every morning and the take em off at night. And yes, it irritates and makes my eye's dry too!! ill stick to my goggles :)

    • +1

People usually have different reactions to contact lenses of differing materials. Hence the reason why your optometrist will always get you to trial them before they are prescribed. Purevision is a great lens because it has a lower water content and for some people this actually reduces the symptoms of dry eyes.

We're always happy to help the Ozbargain community so we'll post a deal for Purevision contacts next week.

      • +1 from me! Well said. Looking forward to the next deal =)

  • Seems like a very good deal but I use Acuvue Moist (daily disposables). Can someone that uses Oasys give some opinions on fortnightly disposables and the differences between the two? I heard that those ones you need to get cleaning fluids as well… Also I find Acuvue Moist dries up and gets a bit irritating after wearing for a day… does this happen with Acuvue Oasys as well?… Thanks…

    • I use the Oasys…. They are inferior to baush and lomb pure vision in my experience. I couldn't tell you the difference between the acuvue moist though. But I can confirm the drying and irritation of the lens with the Oasys.

I've used B&L Pure Vision lenses, they last a month and you can sleep with them on… don't even need to clean them. They don't dry up or irritate, I sometimes forget they're even there. I'd recommend you get a sample from your optomertrist. They're more expensive though.

      • +2

is it healthy for the eyes if you wear those contacts for an entire month?? I would still want to take them off when I sleep though… do you still have that dry and itchy feeling if you wear B+L?

        • Yes it is totally healthy for the eyes. I've already confirmed this with my optometrist. They're designed to be "breathable". They do not feel dry or itchy at any point and I have never lost a contact while sleeping! But like I said, it's a matter of personal preference. The Oasys may suit you, won't hurt to give them a go.

        • Acuvue Oasys are fortnightly lenses and are designed so you can wear them 14 times in one month. B+L Purevision lenses are monthly extended wear contact lenses which means they are approved for up to 30 days continuous wear (i.e. you can sleep in them) however, a majority of infections due to contact lens wear usually occur in people doing so. The chance is still minimal (about 1/10,0000) but the affects can be devastating. Permanent blindness can occur within 24 hours of an infection.

B+L Purevision lenses are great because they allow so much oxygen to flow through the lenses meaning your eyes can 'breathe' more. They also have a lower water content which is sometimes favored if your wearing them in air conditioned environments because they dry less. They are however, thicker and harder than the Oasys lenses but its just a matter of getting used to them. You should always check with your optometrist before trying new lenses, they'll explain all the pros and cons and check that they fit correctly.

    • Acuvue is a fortnightly lens which means you will have to use cleaning solutions. Both Moist and Oasys have their pro's and cons. Oasys uses hydraclear plus which is a wetting agent used to lock in moisture which usually keeps your eyes more hydrated than Acuvue moist however, Acuvue moist is a daily lens which means you'll have the feeling of wearing fresh new lenses everyday. If you are after a contact lens which is comparable to Acuvue Oasys and has the benefits of a daily contact lens you should try Acuvue TruEye This lens is a daily disposable contact lens and also uses hydraclear plus technology. You can read more about this lens on our articles.

      • thanks for the suggestion. I'll give them a try when I finish my box of acuvue moists. I don't mind paying $10 more for healthier and comfier lenses.

above eva04 suggested B+L but I've heard of the J&J brand ever since I was small so I kinda trust them more.

        • I use Moist but when contactconnection had their special on TruEye a couple of months back i bought them.
For me, i think Moist is better/more wet IMO vs TruEye, as i find TruEye seems to dry more easily.

But as AJones said, it will depend on the person wearing it.
I think i will try the B&L next time.

Good deal though! Thanks for listening to us OzBargainers.
I hope you can do a deal on B&L then :)

      • Thanks for the oasys/moist comparison. I'm currently using oasys but was considering moist dailes. i swear the oasys get blurry after a week (even after cleaning). I was thinking dailies might suit me better. I actually saw the trueyes listed on some sites but didn't bother to check the difference between them all.

  • thanks ordered a set … cheers
    perfect timing !

  • Hi AJones

    Is contactConnection an Australian company??
and can I use my Private Health Insurance to claim?

    • +1

      Hi Tensai,

We are 100% Australian owned and operated. You should have no problem claiming from an Australian health fund.

      • Thanks AJones, thats sounds a perfect deal for me now :)
any promotion for the one day Acuvue Moist if i purchase in the same order? :)

  • Ajones i have a question…when you say 'Free 1 Months Supply of Acuvue Oasys Contact lenses for Every 3 Months Supply Ordered' does that mean you get one month of acuvue oasys? or any brand for one montth?. reason i ask is because i made an order last week for the biofinity ones…6 months worth and received one pair of 'SiH 48' contacts (never heard of it) and im assuming one pair is for one month

    • it said "Free 1 months supply of Acuvue Oasys Contact lenses for Every 3 months supply ordered" here at ozbargain, but on the website it only said Buy 3 months of Acuvue Oasys get 1 month free.
it didnt mention what brand of the 1 month free.
Ajones would you please clarify that? as I cant find anything stating we will get 1 month free (2 pairs it was stated) of Oasys or some order unknown brand.

      • My apologies for the confusion. You will receive 1 months free of Acuvue Oasys lenses.

    • Hi Looseylu,

You will receive a months free of Acuvue Oasys lenses with the special. The SiH 48 you received are Biofinity contact lenses, Occasionally they may come in different packaging but they are definitely Biofinity contacts. Please let us know if you do have any issues with the lenses.

      • ahh i see now, thanks for that i did a quick google search and your absolutely right it was a rebranding. but umm in regards to the 1 months free, i ordered 6 months worth but only got 1 pair…i even put my hand in the bag and moved it around alot of times…each time it was empty…was it a mistake or was i meant to order each 3 months seperately

        • You were suppose to receive 2 pairs. Please email us and we'll send you the second pair right away!

  • Good deal unfortunately I only can buy if the deal expiry date is end of september because I need to wait for my waiting period from my health provider.
Unless you can give the tax invoice end of sept date ;)

Also, my health provider not on the listing, in that case, do I need to claim myself manually?

    Please let me know. Thanks.

    • Thanks. Unfortunately we can't change receipts however, I'm happy offer to deal to you end of September. Just email us on [email protected] after you've made the order and I'll make sure we'll include the extra lenses.

  • Thanks Jones.

I will send the email around 26 Sept. Attn to you and hopefully the price per box still the same and extra lenses. Thanks again.

  • was just wondering what your definition of supply is. if i purchase 2 boxes of 6 lenses each (i.e. a box for each eye) would that still be considered as 3 months worth of supply or would this be considered as a 6 month supply?
    Thanks

    • gary i think thats 3 months supply (as each box is 3 months for 1 eye, so 2 boxes makes it 3 month supply for both eyes)
and he specified in the subject line saying $60 for the 3 months supply (which is 2 boxes)

  • AJones thanks for the deal! I still have some of this left from your last offer.
Any chance of Purevision or Focus Night & Day special? I would like to try these out.
