Inb4 price jacking/it becomes 'conveniently out of stock'

  • +2

NOOOO the link was to the wii u version of zelda. accidentally bought it, now what do i do? how can i change it?

    • +2

Sorry about that, you must have been quick.

      To cancel a transaction
Go to My eBay > Sold and locate the item.
In the More actions drop-down menu, select Cancel this order.
Choose a reason for the cancellation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Make sure you purchase the Switch version in the meantime as it's almost sold out.

      • +7

bah too late, missed it :(

i asked if they can change it, but i'll send another email asking to cancel. guess i'll just buy it locally

upside is i managed to get the switch console :)

        • AAARGH DAMMIT BIG W! They cancelled my console order as well, even though i asked specifically to keep that!!

          Really disappointed now :(

        • +1

@Mister Plod: ouch, they have a pretty generous refund policy ~30 days, could have left the order and returned it after and claimed back via paypal w/e shipping cost is associated with sending it back

edit; if i had seen your post earlier would've advised you as above, oh well

        • +1

@loke: hehe yeah i only thought about that after the fact; isn't that always the way!

not too bothered now, and was probably for the best as i wouldn't have played it much anyway (more of a PC person)
only wanted it to play Zelda like everyone else, and the price was too good to pass up :D

        • +2

          @Mister Plod:

Well never fear! Have a look at the CEMU subreddit, especially the botw megathread

  • Out of stock just as I added it to my cart =(

  • Switch gone!

    • +2

Well, not everyone is going to have a gaming PC…

    • +5

      Switch, don't Bitch!

    • +1

Do you have it? Why is it bad?

    • +1

Yeah, that's correct, Nintendo has been releasing Zelda for PC since… Hell frozen over.

    • +1

      is playable on PC

      No it isn't.

      Like most emulated games.

      • -2

        It definitely is playable.
It's just not as good as playing on Switch though, as there are still issues and bugs they're ironing out.
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3hL_cObQoI

        • Can't believe they've already gotten so far in emulation…

        • @Blitzfx: that's only because it's the Wii u version

        • -1

          @MrSammyMcG:
yeah, I just found that out a while after that comment. Saw a vid praising how advanced the software was.

        • @Blitzfx: it is really for being around for only a year or two. It can already play most big Wii u games at a full 30 fps.

    • You'd have to be a really sad sack to pirate one of the best games ever made that took 300 people 4 years to make and you can tell many people have put their heart and soul into this masterpiece. Some people are so trashy.

  • Only took 8 mins to sold out the Switch console.

  • Nice price for 1 2 Switch, great game, Zelda great too. Nice price for Switch and its gone, lol.

    • +8

Under no circumstances can you call 1 2 Switch a 'great game'.

      • -3

I just did. People are buying the system and enjoying the game, stay salty though. Enjoy the same open world copy paste clone games, and subscribe to angry hard core gamer clickbait for insecure big boy gamers if you want. This is a bargain site, video game fans enjoy games and play for fun, its not for the angry hardcore gamer nerd minority online that want to fit in with the core types that get insecure if a game isnt a blockbuster movie for kids. Video games are meant for fun. Truth is they are for kids, but yeah get over it.

        • -1

1 2 Switch is a glorified tech demo that's vastly overpriced. I love the new Zelda but calling 1 2 Switch a great game is a great stretch. Nice ironically childish and salty rant though (especially since the new Zelda has copied a lot from Western open world games to improve its design).

        • -2

          @Safman: So was Wii Sport.

        • -1

@lostn: True, but it was priced appropriately (free with the console if I recall).

        • +1

          @Safman:

          • Yawn. A game is a game, it displays the tech but its still fun to play as a multiplayer party game and the single player food one is funny too. People are enjoying it and its lost on stereotypical internet gamers that dont interact much outside internet "gamer" circles.

Only angry internet hardcore gamer types mostly looking to fit with xbox ps angry gamers along with insecure nintendo types cant see the value in a portable/ home local multiplayer party game that doesnt entirely rely on a screen. On a system with 2 controllers packed in.

Or they choose not too because it isnt some "hardcore" gamers game (a.k.a casual open world, action adventure, sports or shooter). Its 28 games, uses the motion, screens and new tech and rumble in the controller. Thats an honest take from an Xbox guy, not some angry jaded gamer. No salty about what i type, im not posting with emotion, not the way "gamers" do. Video games are just entertainment, they are for children at the end of the day. This hobby is not important in the slightest.

The game is packed in depending where you buy, but yeah its worth it either way and people are buying it. Gaming is a hobby but its not a right, if people cant afford they can just skip. I just dont tell fibs the way gamers like too.

Most big budget exclusives from AAA and Big Playstation studios are tech demos for their graphics engine, visual mocap, meh setpieces with little to no quality gameplay. Not all, but alot are. Your basically paying for a mediocre tech demo movie. but I dont see the crying that they should be $15. I understand those games arent cheap to make and neither was this. Not cheap to make games using new ideas/controller innovation and built in screens. Was made in conjunction with the system.

Gaming isn't cheap, acting like one game is worth it based on angry gamer stereotypes online for shallow reasons is just silly when you could apply far worse to others. We've played the same games over and over last two gens but nobody calls it.

Uncharted, The Last of Us, Order 1886, that Until Dawn game, even Horizon Zero Dawn (a mediocre open world Far cry rinse repeat tech demo) was too. No Man's Sky was a tech demo while Astroneer is what a non tech demo version probably would have looked like, though that still needs work.

Funny how no gamer types describe those as such, wonder why? Doesnt fit their core gamer narratives i guess lol. Nintendo makes some titles with alot of different forms of gameplay and its a crime to "serious" big boy gamers. Lol. Was the Rachet and Clank remake/reboot really a great video game compared to the superior sequels that preceded it? No but it sure looked nice on the PS4, didn't it?

Quantum Break was a strong game, but the obsession with mocap story tech demoing hurt it along with some tv show ad ins. It also hurt some of the later Call of Dutys, which is disappointing as the first half of Advanced Warfare pales compared to the second half.

Alot of Ubisoft, Far Cry, Assassins Creed type Open world games, EA sports games were basically repeat tech demos with little going on for a long while. Ubisoft doing gta. Notice similarities in Battlefield and Battlefront. Telltale games are the same visual cutscene games with similar engines reskinned, tech demo stuff. You think alot of bad Dark Souls clones arent cheaply put together?
Just Cause games are boring because they still feel like they are testing out the tech ideas instead polishing it to make it fun like Saints Row 3,4 Infamous 1,2, Crackdown 1,2, etc.

          • Its possible Zelda took ideas from Western devs but i read they didn't take much or looked at some to see how terrible they were like the Witcher3, another by the numbers open world rpg. They actually took alot from other Japanese games like Monster Hunter, XenobladeCX which i guess has some western influence from Mass Effect, but they brought alot of their own stuff+ old ideas from previous Zelda/open world entries. Im not a Nintendo person but i know a little. Not every "Western" game idea is great, the same goes for "Japanese" ideas.

            • Also people bought the Wii for Wii Sports and the Wii series, like that, this game is selling systems at launch along with Zelda being the top one. It could do well later packed in and I see shallow gamer types backtracking and moving the goalpost if it does well just like before.
  • +1

Shoddy practices there! What's the point of having a sale and doing this crap? Only 9 sold before being sold out.

    • I think they genuinely didn't have enough stock.

Although 9 sounds a bit low for a nation wide department chain. There can't be only 9 of them in the entire country's Big W stores.

    • +1

They could have had 90 and someone would have made the same complaint.

  • +4

Limited quantity available / 9 sold
Looks like they stopped it on purpose, rather than an actual sell out.

  • Ok this is bs. I refreshed the oage and its gone

  • Is the Switch even selling well? I mean, Zelda seems good but what else does it have? Is this thing essentially the new DS, seeing as all the components are in the hand-held unit itself? Has anyone used it with a TV? Not Hatin' just curious what the aim of this device is.

    • +2

Yes it is only good for Zelda right now which you can get on WiiU but if you have kids you can get them to stop stealing the TV when they want to play lol

    • +7

Snipperclips, FAST RMX, BotW, Super Bomberman R and 1-2 Switch should keep people busy until Mario Kart 8, ARMS and Splatoon 2 hits.

      • +6

        So… Just Zelda?

        • +1

If you don't find the other games enjoyable, then maybe people should just stick to the other systems?

          ARMS isn't out yet
Splatoon 2 is practically DLC for a Wii U game

Initial sales were very strong. Naturally, it's slowed down the last fortnight or so.
Will be interesting to see how it continues…

    • +2

Switch is going gangbusters. Honestly, Zelda is one of the best games made. It's amazing.

    • What about non Nintendo games? How much third party interest is there? Wasn't the lack of third party ultimately the demise of the Wii U?

Here's the list of games as of April 2017:
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

        • +5

          @Jamiea: #savage

        • +3

That list doesn't mean anything until we actually get games. We had almost the exact same list, to the dot point, of publishers 'on board' with the Wii-U and what we got out of that was a big meh. Batman Armoured edition? Mass Effect 3 rehash? They showed off Skyrim this time, but I can't imagine many would buy that at full price when the GOTY edition is available on every other platform at half price, or even less.

I own both a Wii-U and Switch, but I'm under no delusion that it'll get decent 3rd party support. You buy these things to play Nintendo games, the odd 3rd party surprise like Xenoblade or Bayonetta 2 is just a bonus.

        • @Strand0410: Xenoblade is 1st party, not 3rd. Nintendo owns the developer.

Bayonetta 2 only happened because Nintendo bankrolled it (the IP owner, Sega declined), effectively making it a 2nd party title, which is a defacto 1st party title.

        • @lostn: Maybe not Xenoblade (wasn't aware Nintendo bought them out in 2007), but Bayonetta 2 definitely shouldn't count as a 'first party' title, just as Street Fighter V isn't, despite Sony bankrolling that too. Point stands, you buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo games, they're the only ones you're guaranteed. All those companies are just lip service.

        • @Strand0410: I didn't say it was 1st party, I said it was defacto 1st party. Nintendo published Bayonetta 2. It's never releasing on any other system, and never would have been made if Nintendo didn't publish it. Nintendo doesn't own Bayo IP, but for all intents and purposes, this is functionally a 1st party title and is no more likely to release on a non-Nintendo platform as Zelda is.

If Nintendo doesn't do these deals, I can't see any big budget 3rd party games releasing on the Switch. That's the same point you're making.

It will get Japanese developers who supported 3DS. Western developers, not so much because they don't make handheld games. It will get indies and games from smaller to mid sized devs, but anything that comes from the big boys like EA, Activision and Ubisoft will be tablescraps if that. You'll get ports of PS360 games, and they might cobble together some shovelware here and there, but games you actually want? Not likely.

The Switch will be fine if it's your secondary console purchased for Nintendo games. If you actually play anything else, it won't be adequate as a single console system.

      • Not really sure what you mean by non Nintendo games, because at the moment, only Zelda and 1-2 Switch, and later Mario Kart, Super Mario Odyssey are designed by Nintendo, other games titles are from different developers/parties.

Nintendo allows a wide variety of apps to be offered through the Wii U apps market. These apps include:
Productivity apps (writing, drawing apps, calculators etc.)
Mini games (puzzle games, chess, cards, etc.)
Media (Netflix, Hulu, Youtube movie streaming apps)
        Utilities (Weather, stocks, etc.)
Map, street view (Wii Street U)

      • It would be a contributing factor. Most people I speak to thought it was a tablet add-on to the Wii. $400+ is an expensive add-on if parents thought that.

  • Mofo. I was allowed to buy another switch system too at that price !

    • Do tell…
