Dublin Return from Adelaide $978, Perth $1052 Melbourne $1056, Hobart $1062, Sydney $1170 Via Virgin/Etihad (Sept-Dec)

AUPROMO

Some great fares to Dublin, Ireland from cities that sometimes get left out of flight deals. Even better, Etihad is one the highest rated airlines and Virgin is also very good. Adelaide to Dublin is the standout and it appears this is the cheapest it has ever been(also here).

Search for the dates in Google Flights then plug them into Skyscanner, Momondo or book directly with code AUPROMO to see which comes out cheapest.

Some other European destinations are on sale as well.

Update: You can book directly via Etihad using code AUPROMO

just checked directly on the Etihad page and plenty of dates around october-november in similar price ranges, priced up flights for 2 people MEL-AUH-DUB return for 3 weeks in oct/nov for $2317.70 which is $1158.85ea - unfortunately the wife won't let me pull the trigger (we did just get back from Italy from another Etihad sale which was ~$1100pp)

    • Nice one. Too bad none of the current codes are applicable.

Scratch that. AUPROMO gives you 10% off.

      • 2113 return now which is bang on the 1056ea example you've found.
my poor credit card is in no state to accept such a pounding :~(

  • ps - airline is etihad, not emirates

Try and get on the A380. The 10 across 777 is just torture.

    • Good to know! I flew on their A330 last year in May and no complaints. Plane wasn't full either so could stretch out. Would definitely fly them again.

    • can confirm. flight home from Venice recently was on a 1/3rd full A380 was much better than the 100% full B777 on the way over :D
(also, first flight ever on an A380, very impressed, i enjoyed it very much)

    • Is there any way one can try to get on one type of plane over the other?

      • +3

Evening Etihad departures out of Australia are A380 from Melbourne and Sydney. Arvo arrivals into those two are A380.

787 to Brisbane and Perth and the rest of the flights are 777.

        • Thank you :)

          @Puff Braddy:
hopefully not too late - do the search on the etihad site, it tells you what planes are used for what legs :)

    • I believe you, but Seat Guru says the Etihad A380/333/777 are all pretty much 31 pitch, 17.5 width. I know the A380 seats are nicer, but is it just the general size/aisle width/entertainment options you're referring to?

      • Seat pitch is one thing, being cramped is another matter. The seats on 10 across 777/787s are basically stuck together and stuck onto the side of the aircraft wall. On the A330/A330 there is a gap between each seat, sizeable gap between the window seat and the aircraft wall, and the aisle is 30% wider meaning you don't get hit every time some (profanity) hits you every 5 seconds.

        • Makes sense.

        • i had a similar experience - on the lower deck the wall is continuing up to form the upper deck so is vertical, rather than curving around over the top of your head, so the whole thing is a bit less claustrophobic.

the sheer fact that the planes are so much newer helps too, much better everything and just generally felt a lot more pleasant to be on.

    • 777 was my worst plane flight ever. Put me off Emirates

  • I tried booking on the Etihad website for Sep-Nov flights ADL-DUB but the AUPROMO code returns the message:

We were unable to apply the promotional discount.
Search criteria does not qualify for the discount or the promotion code is incorrect/expired.
You can continue to book using our standard fares.

    :-(

    • Works for me. e.g. Oct 15 - Nov 5. $982.22. What dates are you putting in?

      • Example: 22 Sep - 10 Oct ADL-DUB = $1872.57 (shows the message about promo code)

I tried your suggested dates and found $1253.32 was the cheapest flight - not sure how you got $982.22 but it does not show the promo code rejection notice so something must be different.

        • Just tried again and getting $1253.12 and similar price on Skyscanner. Looks like it expired.
