  • It's good value but is hardly top specs

    • +5

Lol, there's not much it can't handle..

Anyway, there are $1800+ machines if you really need something bleeding edge.

    • It's top specs for the model in question.

swap dvd with blueray, less $200 in price, and i will buy

    • +1

Any sort of DVD drive in 2017 = :/

    • Not an option unfortunately. I don't care about the disc drive but you can't remove it. Ah well.

Done, call and ask for Rodney.

  • @dasher86, thanks for the title update!

  • Is there any local retailers selling this or similar models?
Also what is the difference between 16GB(8+8) DDR4-2133MHz SODIMM vs 16GB DDR4-2133MHz SODIMM for additional $45. Additional option to upgrade further?

    • +1

Not sure about local retailers, but probably not at this price.

The difference between RAM is the DIMM capacity, the motherboard has two DIMM slots so if you want to max it out at 32GB you should get the 1x16GB DIMM. If not, it's better to get 2x8GB DIMMs as they will function in dual channel mode. IMHO 16GB is stacks for a laptop.

  • Great specs for the price.
Getting a good discrete GPU for in or around the $1000 is usually a nightmare.

    • I know, I've been looking for ages and then managed to miss out on the previous deal by TA. Fail.

  • does anyone know if this laptop can be docked? and if so, what dock?

    • AFAIK it doesn't come with a dedicated docking port, you can try the USB3 docks but in my experience they are a bit meh.

    • Bought this model in one of the recent sales.
No docking port, but as OP says above, you could connect it to a USB dock. I've used a Toshiba one and seemed to do a reasonable job. That was on a MS Surface though, not this.

      • Hi @therog1, how is the battery life like? Also, is it worth adding 1 TB HDD for $149? Or will that be cheaper buying later?

        • +3

Nah, don't add the drive on Lenovo. I bought a 1Tb WD blue for $79 from MSY and put it in myself-very easy to do.

I haven't actually tested battery life (variety of reasons), but windows tells me it's about 4 hours from a full charge (for what that's worth…)

        • @therog1: Thanks Mate :)

        • +2

Yeah like therog1 said, just get an aftermarket HDD/SSD. $149 is obscene.

          @Venom: No problemo :)
Let me know if there's anything else I can answer for you.
Although I haven't used the laptop as much as I'd have liked to date (stupid life getting in the way!) I'm very pleased and impressed so far.
