Hi Team,

Some Dellicious deals at the dell outlet.

Plenty of stock of a wide range of monitors, including everyone's favourite Ultrasharp U2414H for $215, and the updated U2417H for $242.

Plenty of other decent ones too, S2316H for ~~$149~~ $164 is a good pick for an inexpensive decent monitor for home office and browsing use. (edit, actually is $164 for the "as new option" although the website says $149… still $149 for refurb)

      Why did I said what I said? Because I liked this deal, wanted to jump on it but wouldn't, because what I have is adequate.
      
      Was I bragging? I guess I don't have say a say on this, it's entirely up to the audience by the look of things.
      
      And in all honesty, my 3 x 3007fwp serve me well, but it's not something I'd call home about. If they see me rollin', they hatin', frankly, not my issue.

      what's wrong with a bit of older tech, especially monitors. IMO my 2407WFP-HC still kicks ass. Adobe RGB and not this bs 16:9 shit ;)

  Not necessarily, quite different use scenarios to a TV for instance.
  
  Particularly at 27" or so, way to small IMO for 4K.

      Ideally 24" 1080p, 27" 1440p, 32" 4K in a perfect world.
      
      They won't change much at the lower end. Will always be 1080p monitors for quite some time.

    Agree 4K for TV use isn't ideal for anything smaller than 32".
    
    However I find 4K for graphic design, video editing, and even general PC use is perfectly fine on 24"-27", it's actually a lower ppi than say Apple's retina Macs and equivalent screens.

  As new is very new. Most of the time the stock is just stuff the customer changed their mind on after a few days or the stock is just returned without being used.

  From Dell, it normally means it was ordered and never collected, or returned unused. I think refurb means it was DOA, sent back and fixed.

      My two "as new" were brand new. Sealed box and everything. Others have reported differently though.

      @cnut: I bought a U2713H when it was $600 refurb and it came in a box with bubble wrap but was not in any way secured in the box it was rummaging around inside there.
      
      No you can't increase warranty.
      
      That said I got mine replaced twice outside of warranty first time a year and a month old next time a year and 3 months old. I've had that monitor probably 3 years all together, fingers crossed but the issues before were only minor, i.e. tinting in the corner of the screen.
      
      Glad I didn't get 4k,2560*1440 is high enough resolution any higher and I'd have to start using scaling and other inadequate solutions.

A tip for you all in dealing with DFO:

1) Bookmark the DFO page, and refresh right on 10:00am AEST, as that's when the inventory team are actually in-office. Don't bother using the chat line; email directly and skip the queue.
2) Have an email ready to go, so you can send it to them straight away. Here's what I had prepared and I sent it off as soon as I copied in the eValue code.

      The Ultrasharps are a step up from the ASUS VEs….comparison would the the S range for Dell…even then I think Dell may win on colours. I went from a VS248H to U2515H, not looking back ever haha!

  I've got the 2414H and 2415 which is the 16:10 equivalent. I prefer the 2415 version. More real estate on the screen and the image is somewhat nicer including the colors.
  
  In saying that, the 2414 is nice.

Hmm, thoughts on refurbished?

S2417DG caught my eye, but only TN and 23,8" All the other specs are superb. 165hz, 1440p = much want!

Need more excuses to blame the tradesman, not the tools :P

The only concern I have is these do not have the same guarantees as buying new from the site like Pixel Perfect or whatever they call it where you can get it replaced if there any dead pixels.

    Don't know what the average fail rate is but I've owned 4 Dell monitors and all were retired willingly without any issues during ownership. They're pretty good monitors in terms of quality. At least they were, not sure about the newer ones.

    That doesn't mean it covers some dead pixels though. Never did in the past. I remember asking about DFO monitors in the past in online chat and was told they did not come with that policy. Depends if that has since changed.
    
    Dead pixels is a different issue to general warranty and reliability. My monitor came with one, still only one 7 years later. Doesn't mean someone who buys one wants them in the first place if its a noticeable few.
