Samsung Galaxy S8 & S8+ Virgin Mobile Plans 10% off with (Free) Velocity Membership from $72 / $77pm

170

Pretty good deal on the S8/S8+ with Virgin mobile, All you need is a velocity membership.

Respective plans in comparison to the Woolworth mobile deal are about $4 a month more expensive but with virgin you do get unlimited music streaming, data roll over and less aggressive cancellation fees. I'll leave it up to everyone to work out what deal suites them best :)

EDIT: looks like there might also be a $50 cash back through cash rewards… It's a bit vague on cash rewards though so might be best to double check.

  • Thanks OP, but I still preferred to pay the extra $1.50 each month for better coverage.

FYI: I had signed up with the woolies deal few hours ago plus $80 cashback from CashRewards that make me only paying $65.60 each month.

    • Good deal, as long as you don't want or need to leave contract early. Woolworth's early termination fee's are insane.

      • I saw that. $50 x month etc.

But it's okay, signing up using my backup phone number for father in law to use and work out less than $10 month for plan (minus $1349 handset).

    • Totally understand, but better coverage? Don't they both use the optus network? or am I mistaken…

      • Woolworths is Telstra, Virgin is Optus. Although Optus in my area is the better network :), plus I just signed up to the $83 plan for 8gb with Optus with the special. Unlimited Netflix streaming and sports / Spotify music etc.

FYI, Woolworths (and all resellers other than Boost) don't have access to the full Telstra network. It's only the wholesale network, which I think is supposed to be roughly equivalent to the Optus network.

    • cashback to $101 until midnight Sunday

    • Posted something already covered

    • I got $101 cash back.

    • Can you please tell me how you managed to get to $65.60 each month? I can only see Woolworths giving $92/$95 per month for this phone.

Normal price how is this a deal?

Just having a skim over the fine print guys - and I don't think the numbers in the title are correct.

The 10% discount is only on the plan portion and not the handset repayment.
It also only applies to the $50 plan and higher.
    See - https://www.virginmobile.com.au/velocity-offer/?i_cid=HM_Bot…
"Velocity 10% off Offer: Sign up between 30 March 2017 and 14 June 2017 to a $50+ 24 month Phone Plan or $50+ 12-month SIM Plan and receive 10% off the cost of your monthly access fee excluding handset repayments"

So by my reckoning the cheapest with the offer is the $50 plan + $27 phone cost on the S8
    => 50*0.9+27 = $72

Cheapest for the S8+ is $50 plan + $32 phone cost
    => 50*0.9+32 = $77

    • Correct; it's only the plan portion that has the discount.

Sorry guys you are correct. I'll update

Are these for people that can't afford a phone cost in one go ?

So many 12gb deals for $40 pm .Or less …..Better buy phone outright and get a decent plan …..

    • It's for sheep who think they need the latest handset but can't afford it.
Personally I'd rather my 12Gb/$40/rollover plan with my 3-year old flagship phone until finances say "okay, NOW you can spend a few hundred on a new phone"

  • yea…out right the phone and get a cheaper plan!!!!!!!!

Plans are getting cheaper and more data etc….so just out right it.

Buy 5% wooli voucher and buy JB gift card for extra 5% off, or just use entertainment card to buy 5% off JB HI-FI gift card..

    • Certainly outright has been the way to go with Apple phones; if you want one in the first few months. The carriers being able to deliver phones has been notorious - whirlpool was always full of people complaining they couldn't get a phone delivered.

  • Don't forget with 1000 bonus velocity points as well

  • I have 2 services under 1 acc, might be more worth it for me to get this one than the Woolworths one if its 5gb + data gifting..

  • This is a great deal when u factor in the VR headset

  • Sorry but this deal is not clearly described. Which plan is it?
