MSY's latest Deal-Of-The-Day email. The video card is not quite as cheap as last weekend's deal, but it's a better card. YMMV

  • Can anyone comment on how good the TP-Link TL-PA4010PKIT 500Mbps Powerline Adaper w/ Pass Through $69/pr is? Looking at the TP Link webiste, it seems that I can use this as wifi extender as well. Is this correct? I can't seem to find any descriptions on this.

    • you can use it with the tp link wifi extender

You could buy them from Officeworks, try them out then ask for a refund (pretty sure they have no reason refund) and purchase these ones at the lower price if they meet your needs.

Please don't do this. This is why refund policies are being retracted. It's a super shitty thing to do.

    • These adapters don't handle Wi-Fi on their own, they're strictly cabled network devices. How you can utilise them to extend Wi-Fi is to plug a second wireless access point (WAP) into the remote point, giving you a cabled network between the WAP and the primary router. TP-Link do offer true Wi-Fi extenders that use powerline networking - see here.

FWIW, I have a pair of the basic 200Mbps TP-Link adapters and they work great. Simple pairing, good speeds, low interference, but regretably they don't have the pass-through sockets (rookie mistake!). These are an excellent way to network without pulling wires through walls; ideal for renters!
