Price looks good. Saw this in Moorabbin Costco, plenty stock.

Didn't see AA size. Was in rush so didn't find out.

  • Seems like clearance price and these are also the Made in China ones.

Yer, looks like it. Pretty sure it was around $25 some time ago.

I just bought 3 pack of Ikea Ladda AAA (made in Japan) last weekend, then saw this Eneloop AAA price.

First time trying Ladda, unsure how they compare in real.

      • Ladda from Ikea is rumored to be Eneloops but rebadged. Experts have profiled the discharge pattern and it looks identical.

        • +3

So.. $18(family) for 8 at ikea is a better buy?

        • @RtN: 8 what?

        • @Al Kider: Ladda

        • +1

@lplau: I feel like I'm extracting teeth here but which type of ladda? There are several.

        • @RtN:
better because proper made in japan eneloops

        • +1

          @RtN:

Ladda AAA (IKEA FAMILY price) is $7.99, about $2/cell. This deal is $1.87/cell.

Good timing if you want to buy both to compare.

        • @Al Kider:
Gold ones lower mAh higher recharging cycles.
          Gold AAA 500mAh 1500 cycles
          White AAA 900mAh 500 cycles

        • @huu:
So what's better lower mAh with higher recharging cycles or higher mAh with fewer recharging cycles?

        • +2

          @JTTheMan:

lower mAh with higher recharging cycles or higher mAh with fewer recharging cycles?

Depends how you use them. If you are using the batteries in remote controls and similar, only charging monthly at most, you'll get 40 years out of the 500-cycle battery. By then I think the batteries will have failed for reasons other than their recharge cycles - maybe rust!

But if you have a use where you need to recharge every couple of days, e.g. toys or a tradie's radio, then you can choose:
          - recharging every two days, and the batteries last about 8 years (500mAh batteries)
          - or recharging every 4 days, and the batteries last about 5 years (900mAh batteries).

So for a high-power application, the 500mAh batteries will last longer and are cheaper, but you'll have to recharge them more often. Cost versus convenience.

I read somewhere that costco prices clearance stock with 97 cents at the end.

  • There wasn't AA when I checked, either.

  • Only saw AAA @ Ringwood VIC 2 weeks ago.

  • +3

Made in China, not great. Forget about the new Eneloops. Only PRO else Ikea Ledda

    • +1

Yeah, the Chinese ones just don't stand up to repeated use.
Def get Japanese made if possible

      • Roughly after how many charges before you notice "don't stand up" for these Chinese made Eneloop?

        Just for my knowledge. Thanks

        • I think I said this before I have Japanese eneloops back in 2010-2012, those cells actually last longer on the same device compare to the panasonic cheapo chinese ones, 2 months vs 1 month

        • @neonlight:
Same, I think the voltage drops off sooner with the result that they quit much earlier.
Read up on the various flashlight forums heaps of controlled test etc all say the same thing
I used to have links to various tests but its has entered common knowledge now. Its a significant difference and you would almost certainly conclude that you wanted Japanese ones if you read all the test data. But having said that it is always good to read up and make your choices.

  • Saw these at Docklands but they didnt have any AAA.

  • +3

I still have three unopened packs that were purchased back when Masters was still around. And yet, I still feel compelled to buy more here. Somehow, in my mind, it is still justifiable.

    • Ozbargain mantra: "Didn't need it, bought anyway"

  • +2

Newbie poster so go easy on me.

Can someone explain why Ozbargainers have an obsession with Eneloops? Its like You must be a Rneloop fanboy to join the OzB club.

    Please explain? 😀

      1. buy eneloops
      2. …?
      3. PROFIT!
        :P
    • Eneloop is a well-known and trusted brand of LSD (low self-discharge) NiMh battery. Aldi and Ikea also sell LSD NiMh batteries, as do Hobbyking and several other stores.

I think Eneloop batteries are so liked because they are (or at least were) easy to obtain at a good price, and could be obtained locally (i.e. quickly).

For myself, I've found Hobbyking's "Turnigy" batteries to be better, but you usually have to order from overseas, adding shipping costs and delay. That deters some OzBargainers, I think many have not tried any brands of LSD NiMh other than Eneloop.

      • Talk about HobbyKing, I tried to buy 10x Turnigy AAA last week, but their website says.

There aren't any shipping options available at your location from this warehouse. Try providing additional address information or changing the warehouse.

Tried all 3 warehouses (HK, US, EU), same message given. Support says website is recently updated and new regulations maybe added.

Then I drove to IKEA for Ladda :P

Have have come across issue like mine, lately?

        • I haven't ordered from Hobbyking in ages, but I just logged in and tried, and got the same result as you. I then emptied my cart and tried to purchase 10x AA Turnigy, and was given shipping options! Probably just a website bug.

        • @Russ:

          Thanks!! You inspired me.

It seems HobbyKing AU warehouse in Moruya (NSW) is out of stock on Turnigy AAA.

Therefore only the AA size can be checked out if you're an Aussie customer.

  • went to Docklands. they did not have AAA In stock!!

    • -1

Did they have AA? Was that on sale?

      • +1

They have AA but not on sale. Standard Costco price $24.99 for 8.

  • Eneloops for Eneloops?
