Antler Atom 74cm Large Hardside Suitcase - Blue/Silver - $299 @ Bags To Go (In Store Only) - $479 online retailers/RRP $799

80

RRP: $799.99 (tell 'em they're dreaming)

I've been watching this suitcase for sometime now and the cheapest I've seen online is ~$479. A coupon on LuggageGear.com.au can bring it down to ~$399 shipped but this Bags To Go deal is the best I've seen.

Apparently the stores were sent an internal email a few days ago that said to mark down these suitcases to $299. Their online store still shows the $479.40 price. I tried price matching Luggage Direct (stores are side by side) and the manager couldn't do it. Politely refused but it was too far below his cost apparently. Smells like a bargain!

I bought mine from West End, Brisbane (6 left in stock yesterday). BNE Airport DFO out of stock. Plenty of stores around Australia with stock.

I've attached my receipt just in case some stores haven't got the memo.

And I 1st heard about Samsonite 23 years ago, or was it Swanson?

      • Purchased from Walmart, California USA, in the month of July :-)

Filled it with CAT.tm. boots, and other goodies, before the internet, OZB and online shopping

        :-)

Well this deal represents a big savings still.

Unsure why this deals not popular. The case looks nice imo, Antler are a good brand and the price seems ok.

    • I did mention that in my post… the savvy shopper would have only ever paid ~$479 for this suitcase. RRP is $799.99 however.

      Does a ~$180 saving not constitute a deal? :)

  • Go zipless or go home

The Samsonite 28inch and 20inch case pack sell $204 at Costco Lidcombe.

    They looks like this

    • good price. But weird cannot find any info about it. Presume it is old model? How good is it compared to my 81cm Cosmolite?

      • Not sure about costco but when I went to TJMaxx in the US they sell like, 'off-brand' brand names. So they'll sell a Samsonite Case for $200 whereas a similar model at the Samsonite store is $400. Confusing af.

  • My mum bought a Samsonite Octolite last Sept and has done only two trips with it, the recent trip back from HK upon picking up her luggage, one of the two covers which cover the screws of the hinges of the case has broken off and missing, very disappointed with this product as we thought buying her a better quality luggage which will last. Now don't know whether Samsonite will repair it or not.

FWIW, I had an Antler case on which the hinge broke in the last year of the 7-year warranty. Antler service in Australia was absolutely brilliant (a fella by the name of Michael Melton). He walked me through the claim process, I supplied some photos of the broken hinge and less than a week later I had a new case arrive at my front door. That's how you get repeat business. I'll continue buying Antler when it comes time to upgrade.

    • Good to hear a fellow Ozbarginer's experience. I am in the market for a large luggage too and was thinking of Samsonite but now with mum's experience probably look at Antler instead, thanks !

    • Absolutely agree. I had a similar instance with my old Antler suitcase (I upgraded to the one in this deal due to wanting a new cosmetic look…) and one corner of the interior strap had broken after 4 years of solid use.

Sent in a photo, was instructed to take it to a local place for repair. All fixed perfectly within a couple of days. Very easy. No quibbles.
