  • Is this made in German?

  • The Cat and Dog should come with a hand turbo brush as well.

    • Yep that's the main difference between the two units. The Cat and Dog already comes with the Turbo Brush.

But if you get C3 Allergy + Turbo Brush you save a bit over $30.

It is cheaper than the cat and dog model but it's not exactly a fair comparison.

The Cat and Dog model includes:

Miele Turbo Brush Tool Attachment 7250040 (AU $119.00)

Miele STB101 35mm Mini Turbo Brush Tool -MLE7252850 (AU $122.05)

    has the ergonomic handle

    +

    anti odour charcoal filter

    • That's good info to have, thanks.

    • If you need an anti odour filter then ur room probably needs more than a vacuum.

But all the other stuff is good.

    • Do you happen to know if the Cat & Dog model made in Germany too?

Our Miele is finally falling apart after 12yrs! The motor is still great, but all the plastic joints are just wearing out where the pipes join, which is awesome considering it gets used 4-8 times a week and even our 7 & 10yos use it (without much care).

  • I've also seen a fair bit of discussion saying the cat and dog model can use the free filters which come with the bags but the allergy model can't if that's important.

    • That's interesting, do you have a link to that discussion?

    • Why don't they fit?

      • From what I can gather the holder for the hepa filters and charcoal/anti-odour filters is different than the holder for the standard filters that come free with the bags.

    • I haven't been able to confirm 100% but I don't believe the cat & dog model can use the standard filters. I have confirmed from Miele that the UK version cat & dog definitely can't (but apparently you can buy a separate holder for it). Not sure but from what I can gather any model that comes with either a hepa filter or charcoal/anti-odour filter doesn't have the holder for the standard filter. So u need to buy a separate holder (if available) or you'll be throwing away the filters that come free with the bags. So personally I'd prefer the family all-rounder model, but I spent too much time researching it and missed the deal on that one :(

      • Well thats's a little misleading especially regarding the comment I referenced above from John Kelvin a Cat and Dog vac owner who says:

"I have the cat&dog, it doesn't use HEPA filter, so the cost is the same as normal one's."

I might go into the local Good Guys tomorrow and compare the filters and holders for the Cat and Dog and All Rounder to determine if they are interchangeable for myself.

        • Yes it is misleading, and confusing. Especially since I think John Kelvin has the UK version cat and dog (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/290973) which Miele has advised me DOESN'T fit the standard filters, unless you also buy the extra holder from them (not sure if/how to get that in Aus - they didn't respond to my question about that). On this page https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Vacuuming-Cleaning-Ironing/Miele-… in the questions & answers you can see where they have said this clearly. But that one is different to the Aus version of the cat & dog (e.g. UK version doesn't have the ergonomic handle, Aus version does).

Good idea to check for yourself at TGG. Would appreciate if you post your findings on here for us.

          @sav11:

I've just been to the Good Guys and can %100 percent confirm that the Cat and Dog Charcoal/Odour filter can't be used with the free filters you get with the vacuum bags.
They are a solid one piece filter that gets completely thrown away when you replace it. They last much longer than the standard filter approx 1-2 years depending on frequency of use according to the sales assistant.

The filter cage that uses the free filters that come with the vacuum bags has a sort of hinge/flap mechanism that simply pops open and you remove/insert the free filters.

The good news is that the filter cage for use with the free filters such as the one in the C3 Complete family all rounder model fits in the cat and dog and functions fine as i just tried it at the Good Guys. I not only inserted it but did a bit of a test vacuum as well.

The sales rep told me if you were going to order the filter cage from Miele it would probably be a good idea to tell them that you need it for the Family All Rounder model as they won't like it and may stuff you around if you say it's for the Cat and Dog model.

You may also want to keep the charcoal filter around if you need to do a warranty claim in case Miele are looking for an excuse to deny. Just pop out the family all rounder filter cage and insert the original charcoal filter before any warranty claims/inspections.

You can get some generic ones on Ebay but I remember reading that someone from OzBargain did get one but it wasn't a perfect fit and had to cut/modify it a little to fit.

        • @prxy: Thanks mate. So just to clarify, the free filters won't fit in the cat & dog model, unless you buy the separate filter cage from Miele for it. Right? Did they say how much the filter cage costs and if we can actually get it shipped to Aus? When I asked Miele on the Amazon Q&A they didn't respond about the cost or how to get it in Aus.

          @sav11:

Thats right the charcoal filters are a single solid piece with cage and filter combined that you throw away and replace.

The free filters need a cage that opens up (hinge/flap type) like those in the C3 Complete family all rounder model.

I went to the Good Guys and they told me that they don't carry spare filter cages. You would have to order them through Miele direct hence I don't know what they cost.

If I were you I would be contacting Miele direct here in Aust.(www.miele.com.au) and remember DON'T tell them you want it for a Cat and Dog model!!! .

Tell them you have a C3 Family All Rounder and that you broke the filter cage when changing one of the filters and how much would a replacement cost.

        • @prxy: Excellent, finally have solid confirmation. Thanks for that, appreciated.

        • @sav11: Does this mean that the c3 Allergy version isn't compatible with the standard filters unless a separate cage is purchased?

        • @sugasw33t:

Yes C3 allergy isn't compatible with standard filters unless a separate cage like the one in the C3 family allrounder is purchased.

I checked the allergy model while I was at Good Guys as well.

        • @prxy: so which (if any) model did you purchase?

        • @prxy:

          Thanks for that, prxy.

I bought the C3 Allergy, but I'm going to see if I can get a C3 Family filter cage.

In hindsight, I should have just got the C3 Family…but oh well.
