Doesn't matter for me. PS4 Pro with a 4K display: Native 3840x2160 (4K) resolution. I am comfortable with its price.

4K UHD is a resolution of 3840 pixels × 2160 lines (8.3 megapixels, aspect ratio 16:9) and is one of the two resolutions of ultra high definition television targeted towards consumer television. 4,096 by 2,160, which adds up to an aspect ratio of 1.9:1. But the vast majority are 3,840 by 2,160, for a 1.78:1 aspect ratio.

        • you don't need to double link bud.
Especially considering he basically summed that video up in his comment.

        • ^ What he said….just future proof Not with lower 4K!

People have big dreams if they want a true 4k 55" tv for <$800

    • +1

Yea, there's a distinction between the two standards. However the terms 4K and UHD are used interchangeably these days. I would assume 3840x2160 (which tends to be more common) unless stated otherwise.

  • So these aren't as good as the 7000 series?

  • +2

Not HDR either. Don't mistake this 2015 series with the 2016 M7000 series that got high critical acclaim.

    • Supposedly you can unlock hdr with the right firmware on the K3300UW, but its not true hdr like 7000 series (K3300UW is not a 10 bit panel). I'm not sure what difference that is in practice.

      • +1

yeah the cheaper lot of the Samsung TV's in the shops are in the same boat too, has 10 bit HDR panel but no wide colour gamut - which defeats the purpose of having HDR for the colours and colour range.

So all in all, you need a TV with 10 bit panel as you rightly point out, otherwise its not actually HDR. and one with wide colour gamut at least.

I have the Sony X800D and am more than happy with HDR movies on it

      • The 7000 series is 8bit + 2bit FRC - so not exactly true 10 bit either

Steer away from the K version, the newer M versions are miles ahead of these.

    • -6

actually just steer away from the chinese brands, korean & jap brands are way ahead of these.

      • +2

I hate people that say this, Do your research the M7000 series got TV of the year last year. Yes the old versions are a heap of shit like the k3300uw but keep up or don't comment.

        • -2

Firstly, the M7000 which got whatever TV of the year last year (by whomever) has nothing to do with this model K3300UW.
Secondly, Korean TV like samsung has stand the test of time and proven to be reliable, great design, quality picture. You want to go for anything less because the cheap price. By all means, do so. But don't hate the person who stating some facts.

        • There are only 34 pages of discussion on Whirlpool and 105 pages of discussion on AVforums for the UK equivalent, from actual owners, who generally don't believe the K3300uw its a "heap of shit", so once again, a research thing……

        • @mcp2kpro:
I don't believe Samsung 6000 series are any good at all, the picture on those is, in a word, shit.
These (and the subsequent models) are better in terms of picture quality imho.

        • @epazero: Both the K3300 and M7000 are great bang for buck tvs. Have both. Comments above are nonsense.
