I've got 2 Hisense V series units in my home and they go great .
If you go to the linked page a price beat window will popup for the $628 .
There were only 2 stores I could find in Perth (either end ) with them and no delivery option YMMV
Model HAWV9KRD
Hisense V Series C2.5kW Air Conditioner $628 (via Price Beat Button) + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ The Good Guys

Really depends on the size of the room you’re trying to cool. 2.5kw is fine for a small room. If I had a 6.8kw in my small study where I have a 2.5kw system it would be absolute overkill.
My mate has the exact same 7.1 KW unit in his bedroom as we have in our lounge/living . Absolute overkill unless you have penguins as pets .
He was charged 2k for the replacement install so he figured he might as well .lol - pet penguins 😂
It's flawed logic. The unit will short cycle if it's oversized and its likely that this will affect its life cycle. Not to mention that hugely oversized units also tend to cause the air temp to oscillate, so you don't actually get a constant temp.
Also, the smaller units tend to be more efficient, due to the larger condenser:power ratio. When I was looking 10 years ago, the 2.5kw systems had a COP of 5, while the 7kw systems were around 3.5
Nowdays with inverters that matters less, but its still something to consider.
It is still the case just not as much as it use to be. Noise is a bit difference too for the same reason. 3.5kw is usually the best option for a bedroom with 7ish for living areas.
Your correct its a good idea to go over the size recommended for room area that way your aircon isn't running flat out trying to keep the temperature .
No you are both incorrect. If you oversize you'll end up with poor humidity regulation. Pick the right size air con based on the room's heat loads.
Ummm different sizes for different size rooms… I have 3x 2.5lw in the smaller bedrooms, a 5kw in a large bedroom and 2 X 7.5kw for the rest of house… the 2.5s are great in the small rooms and are super efficient as sized correctly.
If you had these installed, do you know how much it cost you to add that many?
(I'm going to add some split systems - likely 3x 2.5kw in the bedrooms, and a larger 7kw unit for the middle of the house)
Had 5 installed for 10.5k. One bedroom was already done before.
A heap of the expense was getting power to them and a couple of long runs of pipe. Cheaper if just replacing old systems with new.
Smaller units are generally more efficient, sizing correctly and having more smaller units is generally the better option.
You see regular ads of supply and install for around $1500 with Mitsubishi and other brands. Isn't it better to go with that as otherwise you need to find installer on top and would end up working out to same or more?
Could you share those ads? I rang around and the cheapest quote I got was $2k for a Mitsubishi 2.6kw aircon supplied and installed. That was for a bulk install; neither of the installers wanted to go down in price. This is in Victoria.
I'm in NSW. They are on Facebook all the time.
I got the impression only dodgy installers advertise themselves on Facebook. There's no shortage of customers for good installers, hence the unwillingness to haggle.
@beesider: If only dodgy services / products advertise on Facebook then the government should just advertise for cocaine on Facebook.
@beesider: Can't say.
I've had hit and miss. Still need to go through their Google reviews. What would be alternative though?
I got quoted similar pricing - about $9k for 3x 2.5kw units plus 1x 5kw unit… looks like Melbourne is just expensive?
I got 3 Daikin units (2 x 3.5kw, 1x 2.5kw) for $7900 with a Melb org. They subbed out the regional install and had Daikin deliver the units directly. Local installers were about $1k more expensive but might have been a bit better with the install process
Seems like it. Cheaper housing but more expensive labour.
Was that a back to back install ? Double storey or anything out of the ordinary ? seems expensive
Back to back, single storey with available space in the switchboard. The simplest install. Yeah, too expensive but I couldn't find any cheaper.
@tightwaldo: I quoted with companies, not with tradies directly. I'm in the outer western suburbs of Melbourne - Wyndham Vale. There were some reasonably priced companies in the opposite end of the city but they didn't want to go my far flung area.
Could you share some contacts, please?
Last year put five of these into the bedrooms and office (off one outdoor unit) and one 7ish kw unit in the living area. They work quite well, but TBH not as quiet as I would like and kinda wish I had gone LG, daikon or Mitsubishi. The other thing is that 26° setting seems like 20° after an hour or two in a small room.
Oh, and they cool bedrooms quickly which is what you want. We put ours on a timer when going to bed.
But overall cost was roughly $12k vs $15k for the equivalent Mitsubishi set up. So it isn’t that noisy. Can't say I've ever seen LG recommend as a good brand for ACs….
$584 with good guys commercial
It depends on your house switchboard and where the air con units will be placed.
It can be double 584 if they decide it's a "complex" jobI don’t believe he’s quoting install price.
How heavy is the outdoor unit?
27.5kg from what I found quickly
Thanks Lolitsjoel
Dude just wants to lift it
Great price but how does Hisense, Samsung etc compared to the more expensive brands these days?
Bought and installed a unit post COVID and all my research pointed towards sticking to Fujitsu, MHI or Daikin
MHI is the safest reliable bet with good feedback
I prefer Mitsubishi electric over MHI but both plus Fujitsu are good.
any reason for ME over MHI ?
mhi daikin are on par, can't go wrong. don't buy a hisense
I've got 6 Hisense split systems installed and they've all been faultless. Some installed five years ago, and others about three years ago
I had a V series Hisense 7.1 unit installed recently and I love it. The installer commented he installs 20 Hisense units to 1 Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi having a excellent reputation, but the Hisense units are flawless and still well priced at the moment.
For small units, Choice has the MHI SRK20ZSXA as its highest rated, clear above any of the others Actron and daikin within cooee.
For some reason no Hisense in its latest AC comparison.
$584 with TGG Commercial.
Anyone happen to know the warranty difference getting it via TGG normal vs TGG commercial (if any)?
I don't like this AirCon, you can't turn the light off via the app.
Put on sleep mode
Or put tape over it
Putting sleeping mask on eyes doesn’t hurt either ..
Would look like shzz, the lights are in the middle of the unit.
There is a button for it on the remote, so why can't they add that button to the app.Every other button from the remote is mapped apart from this one.
I don't think the app is an Hisense one
It's like a generic third party app so applies to many brands
You can always provide feedback to Hisense lol
buy white cloth tape from bunnings and paste over led, looks good too
Can anyone recommend an installer in Perth? Thanks heaps.
East west contractors
Note, these V series only have 5m gas precharge. If you need to run longer pipe you need J series with 10m gas precharge which can handle runs up to 13m without needing extra refrigerant.
That's valuable info, I didn't even know they shipped with so little gas these days. Enough for a cheap back to back install and that's it.
V series is the old model. Will be replaced with J series for retail eventually as far as I'm aware.
J series not sold retail, good guys, JB, etc.
Yeah anyone buying air-conditioning units read the spec sheet.
Would this be alright in a bedroom that’s 3.2m x 3.8m?
If it's well insulated and doesn't have a large heat load then yes.
Yes.
got 7kw Hisense for $1168 from them in 2022
2.5 just sounds a bit wimpy? 7kw unit replaced an ancient 8kw one, and has been reliable since.I think a general rule for room size and the required AC capacity is:
AC capacity (kW) = Room size (sqm) / X
where X can be 6 to 10, depending on the characteristics of the roomIf the area you want to cool has tall ceilings (3m plus), large unglazed windows, is north/west facing, has no eaves, poor/no insulation etc… then X might be 6.
If the area is very well insulated, south facing, has small or glazed windows etc, then X might be 10.Mitsubishi Electric or Daikin only
7 years extended warranty if you register the product on hisense website. Otherwise 5 years standard warranty.
628 for the AC .. 1000$ to install .. lol
Hi, Guys how much it cost back-to-back on the wall support for 7kw aircon?
Someone quoted me $850, plus, depending upon the type and location of switch, etc., another one quoted me $1200, and the third one quoted $1900.
Hisense and TCL are good brands. I installed them at my investment property about two years ago, and there are no complaints.
Aircon suppliers prefer to supply and install new aircon rather than just installation and they only push either Daikin and Mitsubishi on higher versions and Haier, LG, and Samsung on lower or mid price ranges.
No one wants to install Fujitsu or Panasonic. I managed to get Panasonic from HN 7.2 KW for $ 1200, yes it was cheaper but it was their last 2 boxes at their Willey Park store and my installer back out with some excuse that he is busy and his teammates are sick.
Can anyone recommend an installer in VIC?
