it was around $2675 for Australian stock with local warranty
they sell for $2400-$2658 used on ebay which is a small loss specially if you use ebay free selling vouchers
I can only see 2 selling for around $2400, definitely none used for $2658. That's very optimistic. Also without a targeted eBay free listing, you'll only get $2040. About 25% lost. Far from 'great resale value'.

recently ebay has given out sell for free and also see for under $4 or something (good if have access to multiple accounts, friends)
otherwise gumtree is good option if patient
i am sure the resale value and ebay free sale will come up within a good year or two of use and losing $200-500 after 2-3 years use is good resale value since lenses retain a good deal of their value or were you unaware of that?
@thelastnoob: How do you know this lens will still be selling for $2400 in 2 to 3 years? Sony E-Mount lenses arent known for holding their second hand value. I still wouldnt say this lens has great resale value. If anything its just normal like most other mirrorless lenses.

Look at the resale on used fe lenses and usually it's quite high
Some of those lenses are years old and are still selling for high price because there is no Sony alternative and you need Sony for all functions of lens
I haven't seen any real price drops on used fe lenses for over a year and a half and that's only how long I have been looking
I bought and sold a 24-240 at a very small loss after a year of use
This $2600 lens is an elite lens and well below retail
