Try again or wait a few minutes (It just started)
Thank you :)
Works now.
Anyone know which "adapter" this is and how much it costs?
Thunderbolt™ 3 Type C supporting: Power in/charging, PowerShare, Thunderbolt 3 (40Gbps bi-directional), USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gbps), VGA, HDMI, Ethernet and USB-A via Dell Adapter (sold separately)
Dell Adapter - USB Type-C TM to HDMI/VGA/Ethernet/USB 3.0
It's a dongle. I can't find it on the Dell AU site but on the US site it is $75US
http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/accessories/apd/470-abqn?ref=…You don't need to buy that one specifically. Any adapter will do the same thing. I personally only needed an HDMI adapter, so bought one that did that on ebay.
So Thunderbolt and USB-C is the same thing is it?
I have a USB-C dock, will it work with this you reckon?
Is this worth the extra $400 over the equivalent spec Lenovo?
Depends how much you value looks and build quality. The Dell is a much nicer looking and better built device.
Having dealt with Lenovo support on a regular basis (and still do) I can say the two companies are centuries apart when it comes to support handling and their repair/parts network. We regularly receive 'repaired' laptops in a physically worse condition than before, even where paid work is concerned. (factory wrapping over the webcam internally, missing screws and covers, wifi tails detached etc)
I would also never trust the company after their Superfish fiasco, and being wholly owned by the Chinese. Hell no.
My money would be on Dell, almost every time.
Can confirm that Lenovo's support has been some of the worst I've ever dealt with.
I sell alot of the Lenovo Yoga 7/9 series and most are returned faulty in 2-4 months. GARBAGE BRAND
Recently had an issue with the XPS 13 screen. Rang Dell support (24hr) and they sent a tech on the 2nd business day. Would have been next business day if I rang during normal business hours.
Tech arrived on the allocated 2hr slot as agreed. Replaced the screen on the spot and off he went.
Very happy with the service.
I'm well off the pace with computers these days. Looking for a laptop which can do some (albeit limited) gaming. Gather these build in gfx still suck?
Yeah you want a laptop with a dedicated graphics chip to handle gaming. You pay for it in device thickness/heat/poorer battery life though obviously.
The 15 inch version of this (Dell XPS 15 9560) has inbuilt GTX 1050, and is only 400 bucks more with the current sale. Razer core is of course probably the best gaming laptop around, but with a considerable price hike. Performance wouldn't be too bad on the Dell, the Razer of course would be fantastic. I was looking into this recently and couldn't really find anything that was cheap and not chunky, but you may have more luck that me.
Do you get charged GST and duty? It says it is shipped from malaysia
The invoice they send with the device will include GST
No extra costs.
Your buying from Dell Australia. Is this any decent vs the x1 carbon? Have the x1 carbon with the annoying touch panel.
Is their coil whine on these models?
It issue doesn't appear to have been resolved this time round either.
I bought two of these during the last sale in Jan/Feb and both are quiet with no coil whine at all. I think for the most part the issue is not nearly as bad as it once was with the older 6th gen.
Yes - I bought this in the last sale and I returned it shortly after I received it.
No coil whine. Bought in Dec last year. I7 7th gen.
Does anyone know if they've finally fixed the awful wifi issues that plagued these? I bought my 2015 one and it's just still a constant nightmare everyday. Literally continual restarting of the network adapter every few webpages I load.
I gave up on them Broadcom wifi chip they put in. The intel ones are far superior and well worth replacing for 30ish bucks.
my xps 15 9560 got delivered last week, still has aweful wifi issues, am talking to dell support at the moment , if they cant help me i will buy a intel 8260 wifi card myself and swap it out, killer cards suck ass
Just picked up this laptop from the same deal a couple of weeks ago. Was wanting to wait for the Asus ux430ua coming out but couldn't resist this. The wife has taken ownership as she needed a new one as well. We have Telstra cable with the modem wired to an Asus router. Download speed is about 105, the sons gaming laptop using a cable from the router gets 113 so this is very quick. In fact it is very quick all up. Having used it for a few day I now can see why this is still considered the best. What was not mentioned was that it also came with the fingerprint scanner.
Are you sure you have the same model? neither the picture or description says anything about a fingerprint scanner.
I bought this same laptop about a month or so ago on the previous Dell eBay sale. So I can comment anecdotally on the few questions that seem to pop up from time to time:
- My machine does not have a coil whine and is very quiet.
- Delivery was quicker than anticipated - took ~12 days from order to front door (QLD)
- This is coming from Dell Australia, so no other hidden fees/taxes
- Interestingly, the invoice shows the full price (before eBay coupon applied; mine says $1,799)
- Runs well - superb build quality and is lightweight (don't trust me on this, check product reviews)
Overall I have had no problems with it. Some suggest reinstalling the OS from scratch with a new laptop, but the few programs that came pre-installed on this just meant I had to uninstall 2-5 programs (McAfee trial & Microsoft Office trial). I noticed this laptop does looks small compared to other 13" laptops (e.g. next to my roommates 13" Macbook Air) due to little extra padding around the screen - this is of course a good thing but took me a few days to get use to.
I would definitely recommend this machine for business or university purposes.
Good price. But I'm waiting for the new Galaxy Book.
Does this model of XPS always come with Win10 Home or sometimes Pro?
Looks like there is an option on Ebay to configure it with either Pro/Home and also to increase the warranty to 2 or 3 yrs
How do you do that? I don't see the option anywhere.
Its a separate listing.

@robbo135: extra $100. Eek.
How is the Dell compared to this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/294797 which is still available for $940?
Thanks.
i've held both and the dell's build quality feels superior and it looks way better with its bezels. internally and performancewise, they're about the same. with the ASUS, you might have warranty claiming issues since it's from overseas. Dell's support is extremely good in comparison (but slow, i'm returning mine and it's taking forever). Battery life on the ASUS is slightly better. imo, dell's screen is slightly better too. For value, definitely the ASUS if you're wiling to take the warranty risk (i've found ASUS laptops more reliable than dell too - every dell i've bought has needed repairs)
Newox, which trackpad and keyboard do you reckon is better?
Which display is better? Please ignore the thin bezels, just the brightness, etc.
And finally, have you had issues with any of both, like WiFi problem, etc.i haven't used them that much yet. dell's display is better with colour and brightness (but that was looking at the QHD version. i'm returning it though - my refurbished version was a dud. it loaded windows once). dell's trackpad is nicer, but keyboards are pretty similar. can't really comment on issues
Stupid question….. Is this a touch screen?
Unfortunately not
It could be fortunate depending on what you requirements are.
Touch Screen = 4K Display = Less battery life
1080p Screen = More battery life. The person who wants it requested touch screen. I personally would prefer without touch. Thank you both. I'm going to get him the Dell inspiron 13 7000 with touch it's 1849 before the voucher
In reply to BFG100K.. Under Specifics and then features, the third item men
tioned is fingerprint scanner. Wife has entered hers and says it is very good.Had a problem with my ebay email being an old one. Contacted Dell and sorted easily. Bought two more laptops and forgot to put message about email on one of them. Dell actually called me and then updated my email on their system. Very good service.
When does this start?
I just tried the coupon code CYBER and it said it wasn't valid yet.
