    Any good deals here?

  • +1

lots of non-bargains and many 'almost gone's

  • +1

YEESSS!! Hopefully the Dell Inspiron 11 3000 is a bargain. I'm looking for a light / cheap laptop for travelling

I missed out on the last deal here

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/293521

    :(

    • +3

Give this laptop a second thought. I bought this from the last deal and returned it because the screen has a small damage. But I feel "lucky" that I have an excuse to return it. Basically you get what you paid for. The laptop is noticeable slow e.g. scrolling down a website with rich content is laggy. Being a portable device the touchpad is your main input but unfortunately it's not very responsive and not smooth at all. The screen also has bad viewing angle and contrast rate. It feels like any other cheap "netbook" screen you would see. SSD and the battery life are the bright side but overall I didn't enjoy using it. I would personally suggest squeeze a bit more $ and try to find something better. But at the end of the day it's just my personal opinion, if you wanna go ahead then forget what I say and just enjoy:)

      • ahh thanks for your advice.

What netbook do you recommend. Max I'll pay is $350 since I won't be using it that much, only when I'm travelling. When I'm at home it will be tucked into the cupboard lol.

      • I bought an earlier model of this on behalf of a family friend about a year ago, upgraded the HD to a SD and doubled the RAM. Nothing to add above re: performance but the keyboard no longer functions properly (and just out of warranty period). Do a search and you'll find people with similar keyboard issues - some keys just stop working making it almost impossible to use. I think it just comes down to being a very poorly built machine. I've read you can manually replace the keyboard but who's to say that it won't happen again after a while.

I felt so bad that I am currently testing an ASUS e200 to replace it, similar performance and the keyboard works fine. As long you as you don't need a touch screen I'd suggest looking for something else and/or paying a little extra for a better spec netbook. Maybe an HP or Lenovo for around that price?

    • +4

I love my little dell! I got it 4 deals ago. Yes you get what you pay for, but its a great machine to travel with, do some uni work on, as a second PC and apply for jobs etc. its no macbook - but its 1/4 of the pricešŸ˜œ

    • It's available now if you are still looking: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/297234

Just dropped to $399 before code.

      • Thanks but I've taken up Stimpjcat advice and looking to spend a bit more on a better spec netbook. The Keyboard issue seems concerning

      • I want the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon for $650ish :D

Ooops, is it that ebay sooner close like DickSmith? Haha

Daily Mail - Reports say eBay close to bankruptcy!

The good ol' Inspiron 11 3000 is now $499 (Up $100 compared to previous sales). C'mon Dell…

  • Shopping express jacking up 1080 graphics card prices. Was finally gonna pull the trigger on one too

    • +16

https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/kogan-pays-32400-penalā€¦ it's misleading and illegal, if you have exact items monitored it's reportable to ACCC.

    • How do you check if the prices are jacked up? Is there a way to check the price history?

      • You need to have it recorded down yourself before hand and check like every day up till when the sale comes on…and then you would know….

        • Wow really? Then it's pretty easy to jack the prices up before a sale and it'd be hard to know. I thought there'd be like programs or somethign to check price history.

        • @bluesaber27:

          Check purchase history on Ebay.

    • +3

      LOL deal hasn't even started…

      • I added it to my cart then bam! sold out…unless they've marked it sold out on purpose? shrugs

        • +13

probably marked as sold out, to avoid selling it tooo cheap.

  • +1

Yeeeeeessssssssssss! Been waiting for a camera sale before we head overseas next month! Thanks OP!!!

    • same here. Let me know which one you buy. I am eyeing for D7100/D7200's.

      • +1

Will do! I'm looking at mirrorless for travelling. Our DSLR's are too bulky!

        • Yeah. agree, I guess A6000 is a good mirrorless camera. But I like the feel of bulky DSLR :)

        • @ozzyoi:

          How'd you go mate?

I ended up getting the A6000 with the 16-50mm kit lens for $754 at HN. Not the cheapest it's ever been but worked out cheaper than the eBay sale. Now I just need to pick up a Sigma 30mm and I'm set for travels :)

  • If you're looking for a soundbar under 500 this is a good deal at $423 Samsung HW-K550

  • Anyone heard of vaya_shop? Pretty sure this isn't run by the teleco…

    • IDK, I have a feeling it might be as somehow they were specifically asked to take part in this offer…

      • +1

Yeah being part of this deal implies they're legit, and they show a vaya branded simcard as their profile pic, but a feedback score of only 3 doesn't inspire confidence…
They have the cheapest S7 Edge's though at $639 , but only $6 cheaper than last weeks deal

        • It's their official store,it's advertised by their official fb page. New store me thinks
