1080 cards are going through a price adjustment following the announcement of the 1080Ti which is released in the US next week.
Whilst the Zotac card if a good offer, it will be interesting to see what other editions of the 1080 start popping up at surprising prices.

I know people are always saying wait but seeing as though the price cuts were announced 2 days ago … it's crazy not to wait at this point. Your going to miss out on either a cheaper 1080 or GTX 1080 with faster memory.

Nice find. If that runs out of stock or if Umart is more convenient, they have it for $715 http://www.umart.com.au/umart1/pro/Products-details.phtml?id…

      • For those who signed up for the multi brand amex deal and have multiple cards, they might be able to shave quite a bit off that. $555 by my calculations if you have 3 cards.

      fxxk me, I spent 600 for a 1070

      • +3

I'd rather not, but thank you for your kind offer.

        Anyway, you think you've got problems - i spent 1070 for a 600.

  • damn the 1080ti is going to cost 1.2k in aus :(

    • Was reading about that, supposedly that will be the cheaper end of advertised price points in AUS for a 1080 Ti FE.
They were advertised on PLE for pre order, but seems to now have been removed
No doubt the pricing will come back a little once some time has passed.

The alternative being shipping a unit from the US. I know the states can be a little odd and sell stuff over the RRP but working on the $699 USD RRP at todays exchange rate works out some where around $950 AUD + Shipping.
If your in the position, wait 6 months or so until a deal pops up on Amazon.

      • I'm down to pay $950AUD for it, but if it's 1.2k+ then no thanks lol

      • Why would the FE be on the cheaper end? The 1070/1080 FE was always more expensive than the AIB versions for those who wanted it right away but at the expense of inferior cooling.

Also not sure about recommending people wait since the government will be collecting 10% on all imports sometime this year regardless of value.

I think getting an AIB 1080 Ti for just under 1k shipped before July 2017 would be ideal rather than getting an FE.

        • Hey ChilBro, not sure If I am reading you right?

Why would the FE be on the cheaper end

Refer the article in my post Hyperlinked as "advertised on PLE".

Also not sure about recommending people wait since the government will be collecting 10% on all imports sometime this year regardless of value(ato.gov.au).

Good point. I was aware there was talk on the subject. I was not aware it had been passed.
So if purchasing from the US make sure its in Aus before the EOFY.

I see Gerry Harvey has moved on from ensuring GST is paid on imports to opposing Amazon AU?

$699USD was how much the 1080 cost when it first came out.
$699USD was also how much the 980ti cost.
      Oh and 780ti.

Do you see a pattern? Why are people even surprised the absolute top tier video card (aside from the titan) costs a lot?

      • +1

Because $699 USD isn't even close to $1,200 AUD with the current exchange rate

        • -4

Yeah works out to be $920. Then GST. $1000. Increased cost of distribution due to higher wages? $1200 is not that much of a reach. Us that's not even the confirmed rrp. They had to pull the listings.
Plus ple is usually more expensive than say msy.
If it's such a big deal then buy it from US?
          Or buy a 1070

  • Can some enlightened ozbargainers advice me on cheapest way to get a decent PC to put cards like this in ?

  • +4

Yes, a serious dilemma: spend $752 on an over-the-top video card that is probably too noisy anyway with all those f'n fans, or eat for the rest of the year.

These are the kinds of tough choices i need to make on a daily basis.

    • But you know to pick the video card, right? Eating is overrated.

  • does anyone rekon we'll see 1070 cards down to $400?

    • Lol

      • -2

Why LOL? I'm waiting for it to go sub-$300 and I reckon it's not gonna be too long from now.

  • I'd rather get the GTX 1080 Ti, it's better than this one.

    • +2

      no shit Sherlock

    • Sage advice right there

  • What a wank - "Metal Wraparound Carbon ExoArmor exterior", perhaps when you're playing all those shoot 'ems heavily armed micro soldiers go to war inside your case, yeah right!

  • -3

    Ps4 pro cost the same

    • +1

Consoles are running outdated technology on launch.
