will the fire blanket keep me warm?

    • +3

      Maybe just half a leg.

    • +3

      jv is that you?

    • +7

Don't be silly. A fire blanket is used to set things on fire.

    • If you set yourself on fire, you'll be warm for the rest of your life.

As for the afterlife, I heard that hell is pretty toasty too. So that's an option!

"You wouldn't want a fire to happen before you go to Aldi in 6 days and you haven't got your life saving equipment already."

Chances are ALDI will be out of stock within the first few hours of the special, so not only do I need to postpone my blaze for six days, I better get down to ALDI within quite a narrow time period.

    • Often they have stick discounted a week or two after

      • Good quality stick or a cheapo knockoff?

        • Stick=stock, 2 nuts and…

  • +1

no deal… sydney water only charges 22c for a KL thats 1000 litres…

    • +7

Is that gonna put out oil or electrical fires?

      • +9

        1000L probably would.

        • +12

Not if it's a 1000 litre oil fire.

        • +11

Putting out an oil or electrical fire with water would make for a good youtube video on one of those 'Fail' compilations.

        • +1

          @Scab: touché

But in fairness, I don't think one of these things would either.

        • @Scab: And how many blankets do you need for that?

    • SA's price per KL is $2.27, pretty sure you mean $2.00 a KL.

      • yes 2.00 a KL i got mixed up with KwH electricity lol

        • I was going to say are we paying 10 times what you are…. We pay 31c a KW

    • Is this for real? Tap water is $2.60 per KL in Melbourne.

I know the water is terrible in syd, but that price difference??

    • You also need to factor in the cost of replacing your home after it burns down because you spread the burning oil around your kitchen with water rather than extinguishing it with a blanket.

      • Nah, the resultant fireball will probably be fatal so no need to think about future expenses ;)

    I'm running out of excuses.

  • This deal is on fire.

    • Not yet. Bunnings smothered Aldi with this deal

    HOT PRICE

  • +7

If Bunnings were so big an powerful to have the leverage on selling at the "lowest prices", why do they have to constantly match competitors and not have the "lowest prices" 24/7 ??

    • +8

That's how they stay big and powerful, they sell everything at the highest price possible.

    • +6

"Lowest price" is an illusion to give the shopper the false comfort that they are getting the best deal and lowest price than anywhere else. The majority of shoppers are lazy and wouldn't search elsewhere before buying.

For those that frequent bunnings enough would have noticed that prices are subtly and slowly creeping upwards.

      • On the contrary, Dan Murphys actually do have the best prices.. Always check boozle just in case though

      • +1

Since Masters went out of business, Bunnings is less slowly increasing prices.

    • +1

Lowest prices are just the beginning - get it?

  • I just started welding as a hobby, the extinguisher will be handy to put out fires (had some paper towel on the garage floor catch on fire already) and the blanket I'll use as an apron so I stop getting holes in my pants! (too cheap to buy proper welding leathers)

    • +5

Paper towels work good, just stuff them down your pants with some twigs.
      Job done

      • +3

        Liar liar pants on fire

  • Can i put this extinguisher in the car?

    • +22

How else would you get it home?

      • Thanks for the link. According to this website:

"Dry Powder Extinguishers are for Class D or combustible metal fires, only. They are ineffective on all other classes of fires.

Class D fires are fires in combustible metals such as potassium, sodium, aluminum, and magnesium."

Does that mean the Dry Powder Extinguisher is not very effective on most type of the fire which may occur at home? Anyone can clarify? Thanks.

"Class A fires are fires in ordinary combustibles such as wood, paper, cloth, trash, and plastics."

"Class B fires are fires in flammable liquids such as gasoline, petroleum oil and paint. Class B fires also include flammable gases such as propane and butane. Class B fires do not include fires involving cooking oils and grease."

"Class C fires are fires involving energized electical equipment such as motors, transformers, and appliances. Remove the power and the Class C fire becomes one of the other classes of fire."

"Class K fires are fires in cooking oils and greases such as animals fats and vegetable fats."

    • An Australian website is probably a better idea.

      • Spread the word!

      • Thank you! Very useful information. ☺

    • Username checks out😯

  • Not another FIRE sale.

    • Yup. I'm feeling rather burnt out.

    • Well spotted!

    • But will it ever be that cheap again?

  • +1

Plenty at my local - Got one - Thanks to you Sween!

PS: The Fire Blankets are great to have in the car. Keep one under the seat. Never know when you'll come across a car accident or grass fire. Great piece of mind for $7ish.

    • +1

      Peace

      • Maybe he bought some brains for $7, so it was a piece of mind.

  • How long do these last until you need to recharge and whats the cost for recharging them. I have about 3 of these at home and around the workshop and its all on RECHARGE status now. So I guess I need to recharge them?

    • I guesses some brands are cheaper than others. I checked the one in 1kg my room its its still above the halfway recommended pressure.

The other one 2kg is also pointing to charged. This one might be 8 years ago.

    • It's cheaper than buy a new one at this price.

    • Just checked my Aldi one from 1 or 2 years ago. It's A:10B:E. Do they have different models?

      • +1

Aldi sources it's products from different suppliers & adds it's various trademarks.

So almost identical packaging & advertising may be for a slightly different product with different specs, from a different manufacturer to previous offering. Just because the previous model had a certain reputation, the next one might be very different.

Checked my 2 year old SCA - 1A:20B:E (bought for less than $10 with free SCA member credit).

    • The ones in Aldi this week are 1A:10B:E

  • Will my phoenix rise again with this fire extinguisher ?

  • Stock still available at Nunawading, VIC. It's located in the "Fire Safety" section.
