2 for 1 Glasses Sale @ Sneaking Duck

10
2FOR1

We're back with another awesome sale - this time it's a 2nd pair discount of $180 – which is equal to one free pair of single vision optical (standard, thin or ultra-thin lenses) or one pair of non-prescription sunnies with your purchase.

If you want something a little more exotic (multifocals, polarisation, transitions, mirrored lenses, blue light lenses etc.) additional lens charges will still apply however you’ll still receive $180 off your second pair. Sounds fair to us 🙂

Ends March 14th so be quick, especially if you want to take advantage of our free Try At Home service to help you decide which frames you'd like.

Thanks for offering something good to the community, but you're no where near a deal for online ordered glasses.
EyeBuyDirect is still cheaper, hands down.

I guess it's not bad for 'within the country', but its no faster; EBD gets here within a week.

    • Thanks for that @masterscythe

One thing to note is that if you want to claim your glasses on your health fund the optical dispensing has to be done by a locally certified lab. EBD's glasses are made up and shipped out of Austin, Texas (confirmed with the company). All of our lenses are health-fund claimable. That may not be an issue for some people but it will be for others.

Other than that, I haven't purchased EBD glasses so I can't comment on the quality of their frames, if their lenses come standard with any of our free extras (i.e. UV-proof, anti-reflective and scratch-resistant) or what their local customer service is like (we've won a number of awards for customer service over the years) so it's hard for me to be able to compare Sneaking Duck with them on matters other than price alone.

      • EBD does offer a tax receipt to claim from a health care, it is more effort, but they accept it.

That said, If you get "one free pair" may as well keep the money in the country!

Yep, Texan company. Pretty sure a chinese lab.
I have Keratoconus, so I buy glasses very regularly.
I'd have done more than 20 orders through them.

I usually get a 1.6 or 1.67 grind lens (my prescription is extreme), in a rimless frame with titanium arms (my favorite), with multicoat, UV treatment, and ptfe (teflon) coating for under $100 delivered. If you're OK with a frame, it gets even cheaper.

Most labs over here blatantly refuse to do my prescription in rimless, or in low index (i prefer the better light transmission of a 1.6 lens over anything higher).

I got my mother a pair for night driving for $26 delivered.
1.58 index lens, semi-rimless steel frame, scratch resistant and multicoat.
I've had them checked over here by my ophthalmologist, and they're spot on with their grinds every time, even on my "this prescription doesn't look valid" grinds (keratoconus).

Probably the hard to beat offer is the "free replacement if damaged" no questions asked.
I had someone step on my glasses, and just emailed "Someone stepped on my glasses, I need a replacement" within 3 hours I had a reply "Please send $8 shipping to this account, and we will have them out".

They replaced the whole order (4 pairs) for the cost of shipping, $8 (which is their policy).
I've done this twice now on different orders.
Thats just incredibly hard to beat within country.
And from order, to door, is less than a week.

But as I said, if you get them 'free' through health care, may as well keep the cash local!

        Not trying to attack you in anyway, always genuinely appreciative of a company offering people what they can;
but this is OzBargain, and there are better bargains to be had, at least in my opinion.

        • All good - don't feel attacked :)

Re: the dispensing - note this from Bupa as an example:

These requirements are in addition to the mandatory criteria listed above and Our Ancillary Provider Terms.
          1. Online Optical Provider Obligations
All services must be provided by or under the supervision of a Bupa recognised optometrist or optical dispenser.
All optical appliances dispensed must be registered with the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG).
Optical appliances must be dispensed from within Australia.

Our experience is this is the same policy for more or less all health funds as the lenses are viewed as a medical device. Good on people if they're getting foreign made lenses paid against but I'd still be careful if buying and intending to claim via a local health fund.

BTW - that's interesting if you're getting that type of replacement service.

Took a look and their website has different info so they should probably update it :)

"At EyeBuyDirect, we guarantee the quality of our eyewear. If you are not happy with your glasses, simply contact us for a refund or a replacement.
EBD has a 14-Day Fit & Style guarantee which allows customers to make an equal exchange or return with no questions asked.
Our 365-Day Product Guarantee means Customers are eligible for a one-time replacement pair within 12 months. A one-time replacement pair will be only issued if there are clear defects in material and workmanship.
Product warranty does not cover damage caused by accidents, negligence, or improper care."

BTW - specced up a higher index pair or two and our deal actually comes in lower than EBD on pricing… just sayin' :)

        • @sneakingduck:
aka. Dont use BUPA then :P
Every optom and ophthalmologist has told me AHM or nothing with eye problems, since they don't limit where your extras go.

You're Lower in some cases eh? Nice.
I guess it's my prefered style that was expensive by comparison. Titanium Rimless with Grind lenses.
Also, seamless progressive lenses from them are unbelievable cheap.

Not to mention, my mother with low prescription (low sphere, low cyl, and a couple degrees of Axis), coming in at $26 for a pair, is kinda unbeatable. That was just a "hang around on the page long enough to get the 20% off popup to appear" and then order.

The only problem will be getting things Australian labs refuse to do for me.
          For example;
Polarizing high Cylinder (above 5) sunglasses. They just refuse last I checked. They'll tint, but they wont polarize.
          Doing a -5 sphere in a low-ish index (1.6) lens.
THEN getting that thick lens in a rimless frame.
It's just a chore to order locally.

But I'll have a better look at your offers :)
I didnt neg the deal :)

          Interesting,
they USED to cover accidental damage, it must be an old policy they're still honoring because I'm a repeat customer. So I stand corrected there! Thanks for highlighting that!

        • All good and appreciate you taking the time to highlight what other companies are doing well from a customer POV - helps massively when we're looking at what we could be doing better.

        • I have the same eye probs.

          Alas it appears they don't handle Cylinder outside -6.00 - + 6.00.

        • @sneakingduck: I wonder if other health funds are the same? quite a few years ago I got payment for glasses I physically bought in Malaysia, then Thailand by NIB.

        • @supabrudda: Hi @supabrudda - we can do much larger than +/-6 but they're custom orders. Just drop our team an email at [email protected] or call on 02 80060704 and we can talk you through things

  • Op,do you guys handle Cyl -7.00 ? or is -6.00 the max?

    • Hi @supabrudda - just replied above. Short answer…yes, we can :)

  • I just had my 13 month old pair break plastic at the hinge while taking them off. Have sent you an email.
Hope you guys are good with your warranties! I was planning on buying some more.
