  • Damnit, just paid that much at MSY last week for a Gaming G1 1050Ti

  • I'd go for 480 4Gb even at this price, 10603Gb is a buffed up 1050Ti.

Am I missing something according to this: http://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/2649-gtx-1060-3gb-vs-rx-48… gtx 1060 wins in most benches uses 30w less power and at this price is $50 cheaper..

        Read the date. October.
AMD is notorious for making horrid launch drivers, and it was significantly improved in the 'ReLive Crimson Update' that came out in December.

        • good to know, hopefully AMD can do good things with ryzen as well. Good competition in the computer component space is well overdue

Yea right now using Direct X12 the RX480 rips the GTX1060 a new one. Even on some DX11 tittles it does better.

    • Obviously you have no idea what a bargain is. Look at the price differences
And NO! the 3gb 1060 is about 5%-8% 'less than' the 6gb 1060.

480 4GB is 10 percent faster on average. And at $289 for the G1 Gaming unit (which imo is one of the worst 480 designs for cooling) it isn't a bad value. More and more games use VRAM especially with the 970 and 390 having 4GB (or 3.5 for the 970) and the consoles having 4GB.

  • Hmmm, this or an EVGA one off Amazon for about $10 more? EVGA ones have 3 year warranty no?

  • I currently own a 580 gtx and Im looking to upgrade to a 1070. My question is this: I only plan to use 1080p and apparently a 1070 is overkill for most games but is futureproof pre much. So should I buy this or wait for the 1070 price to drop?

    • 1080Ti is rumored to be coming out soon and 1080s are reaching low prices so hold on to your money and wait.
1070 is overkill at 1080p, but if you want to upgrade to 1440p or not upgrade for 4-5 years then go for it.

    • If you held onto your GPU since the 500 series you don't upgrade regularly(I'm the same) so it's worth going for the midrange 1070 for better future-proofing. Added upside is that if you pick up a 1440p or 144hz monitor the 1070 will leave the 1060 in the dust. 1070 prices have hardly changed since when I got mine in September so you're better off waiting for the 1080ti/Vega launch when 1070 prices will drop again.

    • Depends on what your current/future monitor setup is. I was getting 80-90 fps with 1060 6gb on the division and similar on BF1. Games in a couple years time are likely to be more taxing on the hardware and newer gpu's will be released in a few months(if you can wait).

Even if it's a bit of a side-grade from the RX470 4GB, so tempted to swap out for one of these.

  • My windforce 1060 3gb hasnt skipped a beat, im loving it, totally recommend for the price!

  • Hi All,

My monitor is a 27" 2560 x 1440 resolution. Is the 1060 good enough to game on a 1440p or should I spend a bit more for the 1070?

    Thanks.

  • Nope 1060 is only good for 1080p. At least get the 6gb version or 1070

  • This has been at $269 for a while.

Bought it but sold it a couple of weeks later when i got gigabyte gtx 980 ti xtreme gaming for a good price.

If you are looking for best value this is a good product considering performance is on par or better than 970, but 6gb version is only a little bit more so would rather get 6gb version

  • Seems to be all run out now.
