  • I always considered monitors to be 30" or less and TV 32" or more.

    43" seems like a TV.

    • It has DisplayPort input, so I'll call it a monitor.

        • 5ms or whatever refresh rather than 20 to whatever.

A TV has a tuner. A monitor does not.

  • Good price. I paid exactly this a couple of weeks ago… it's FANTASTIC, but it's so FRIKKIN HUGE lol. You better have a long desk or it ruins the experience altogether. I had to buy a keyboard extender tray so I could sit further back, but otherwise I have no regret whatsoever. And oh I don't think it's great for FPS gaming because it's so huge and your eyes simply can't keep up….

Apparently burn in can be an issue with this mornitor so make sure to read reviews:

    https://www.amazon.com/Philips-BDM4350UC-43-Inch-IPS-LED-Mon…

    • I've had mine for like 6 months and no signs of screen burn in on mine.

Mine does give a warning about burn in when turning it on - I'm thinking that the first release of this monitor did have burn in issues which they've subsequently fixed and added in a warning to be sure…

      • myself and a colleague bought one each. his is fine. mine suffered severe burn-in from the get-go. apparently it's just poor quality control from factory as a few forum searches has shown similar people having issues.

the burn in from my was so severe that it just happened as soon as it turned on - not after extended use. i used a few burn-in websites that switched from b&w squares to pure white, and after having the b&w squares on for less than a minute, i switched to white and could still clearly see them.

i took it back to MSY (where i purchased it from) and showed them the same tests and they refunded me immediately.

YMMV - just check for burn-in immediately after purchasing.

    Isnt 4k too low res for 43"? Like 1080p on a 27"?

    • -1

Show me a higher res monitor than 4k @ 43"

      • -2

What does that have to do with my question?

        • @bti_jet

          BURN!!!

          @csingh:

Ohhh I felt it…. Boo whoo

FYI I think only the 27" comes in 5k

How about burning your head lol

        • -1

Show me 43" that has 5k res.

        • @bti_jet: The fact that a smaller size monitor has a higher resolution just makes this look even worse.

        • @Orpheus:

          Yawn….

    • No. Apparently people usually don't have to change Windows text sizes.

    • Nope. It's about 100dpi, which is pretty much what monitors have been for a long time until the recent high-dpi "retina" displays. My 30" is 2560x1600 which is also about 100dpi. My monitor before that was 24" 1920x1200 - again about 100dpi.

      Actually, at 43", it's a bit less than 100dpi - I previously worked it out on a 4k 40" monitor - but close enough.

      • It's actually just over 102 ppi. 40" would be just over 110ppi. For less gigantic comparisons, the 40" would be basically equivalent to a 27" QHD 2560*1440 panel, slightly more sharp actually, but close enough. And the 43" is fairly obviously the same as a 22"(they all seem to actually be 21.5") full HD 1920x1080.

Been eyeing these large 4K monitors for a while, but seems it's just not the time yet, with cards barely able to drive games at 4k and the whole HDR thing now.

        • Agreed, not the time yet.

But I still browse the deals fantasising about what will come.

4k and 144hz with GPUs that can drive them (and a port which can much that much info)

          Ahhh… Back to reality.

    • No - it's equivalent to 4x 21.5" full HD monitors joined together with no bezels!

I've got one sitting on my desk with a Dell U2412M (24" 1920x1200) monitor on either side - the text on the Dells is slightly larger, but not by much - no font scaling on any of the monitors.

Tempting to get a 2nd 43" monster to replace the 2x 24" monitors!

6 people just bought this monitor and dont want buyers remorse 😂

  • why is this one so good for BDSM?

  • I was about to press the buy button at MSY and thought of checking OzBargain :)

Bought one for PS4 gaming and Productivity. Not the best monitor, but great overall and at an excellent price.
