Any idea which stores in VIC (specifically, Melbourne) have Hot and Spicy all year round?

      • +1

Forget H&S. Melbourne Elizabeth St and Swanston Street both ran out of Chicken today. lol.

    • Depends which state you are… QLD is year round, some select locations in the other states (I heard mentions on WP/OZB to there being some in Syd), NONE in SA.

      • QLD & WA are all year round.

        • My local KFC in WA rarely has this deal

        • @dexx: I was talking about hot and spicy availability, not the 9 for $9.95 promo.

      • +3

Sydney CBD (Town Hall) is all year round

        • +3

          Also Broadway (Central)

      • +2

For NSW Hot & Spicy lovers:
Town Hall, Chinatown, Railway Square(Central Station)

    • QLD/WA will have it. Some City Stores in Melbounre also have it.

      • which city store in melbourne has hot n spicy?

        • Best option is to post to KFC's fb page, and they should respond.

        • @oscinator1988: only the Richmond (IKEA) one has it. Asked them on Facebook. Think it's Victoria Gardens… Just in the IKEA centre haha

  • +6

QLD has the best hot and spicy…
Sydney had year round h&s at Broadway but it's crap compared to QLD for some reason…

Popeyes is totally awesome. Always use to have it at HK airport.

      • +2

I might skip the first class lounge and have Popeye's next time!

        • +1

          Beats pretentious food anytime :)

        • +2

just ask your bodyguard to deliver it to the lounge.

    • popeyes at KLIA2 isnt worth a visit

      • +2

KFC Malaysia tends to be not bad. I remember Popeyes in TTDI KL was ok.

        • kfc is malaysia is awesome. safe, too!

        • @tomkun01: KFC Thailand is pretty good too but then again there is street Gai Tod Hatyai that is probably better.

        • +1

@Kaboda: thailand street food terrifies me. no fridge in sight. got very sick there once

        • +4

@tomkun01: I've never really been sick from street food. I guess it's either boiled to death or fried to death. Can't be too much bacteria left.

        • +2

@Kaboda: I thought so until i got sick the first time and the subsequent two times

        • +3

@tomkun01: Good that you gave it three tries before deciding to play it safe. :-)

        • @tomkun01: Don't they make the skin extra crispy and thick there unlike here.

        • @tomkun01: Just don't drink unbottled water in India :( :( :(

        • @momov3: I don't know. But our kfc uses fresh chicken

  • Can anyone chime in on the type of pieces given? I'm not a KFC professional but do they give you a minimum of wings? Or small bits? If small bits exist are they more delicious?

How much is a bucket? I see under the catering option it's $1.50 a chicken piece.

    • -2

You can ask for certain pieces if you want

      • +5

I was always told you can't choose when it comes to this offer.

        • +3

Packs are generally set pieces. If paying the individual piece prices, they would let you choose.

    • mostly wings and drummies

    • +5

I think you'll find that the standard nine piece pack is made up of all the pieces of a whole chicken, that is two wings, two drums, two thighs, two shoulders (couldn't think of a better term) and one breast. You can confirm by trying to reassemble the bird next time and see how it looks …. 😂 .. !!

    • +1

Can anyone chime in on the type of pieces given?

There are 9 pieces to a whole chicken, so you should get that.

A breast, two wings, two drumsticks, two thighs and two ribs.

But most staff don't do it properly, they just grab whatever.

      • +1

        "A breast" - that's one deformed chicken …

        • +1

Well, they don't even have nipples.

        • @Scab:

maybe you arent attractive enough to make them show

    • +1

You will be given the equilvant of a whole chicken. You can request certain pieces, but that is all, there is a strict policy so dont except to get your request. Can you elaborate more on your bucket question?

      • Thanks. I was wondering how much a 21? piece bucket costs.

        • Depends on how close to a city centre the store is.
          I would estimate between $35-$42

    • 9 pieces is a set combination. See my post below to find out what you get exactly.

  • +13

Most KFC outlets (especially if they are busy ones) will tell you that it is going to be the standard distribution and generally not like to give different cuts like additional thigh pieces.

I try to get to the more remote-ish KFCs like Ashwood (Vic) drive through and ask very politely if I could get additional X type pieces and they have been pretty good to me. Just don't expect much if it is a peak serving time for them. Also it is often dependent if the Manager is watching or not.

According to KFC’s nutrition guide, the 9 For $9.95 deal has a total energy count of approximately 8032.5kJ. That's practically your entire daily energy intake in one sitting, even if you refrain from a soft drink and chips. As you'd expect, the deal also contains a dangerous amount of sodium and saturated fats — 4041 milligrams and a whopping 25.2 grams, respectively.

I generally spread my 9 pieces into three meals but DAMN, the sodium and saturated fat levels are quite high.

    • +3

I was trying to work out which meal I would have 4 and which 5. But 3*3 is probably a better idea.

      • Yep, I've done 3x3 before too.

    • If you get extra thigh pieces then the 3 x 3 option is definitely a good way to break it up.

      • +2

You guys have good self discipline.

    • would of loved to have had a crack at doing this in one sitting with my mates if this was around when we were younger

    • +1

come on. do people actually take teh 8,700 kj seriously? It's a random number pulled out by the 'average adult'. Whats average? If you have a high metabolism for example, you can easily take more then that.

For example I can eat more then 8,700 kj and I won't put on weight.

      • It's not a random number, it's just designed as a baseline average. Obviously it depends on a lot of other factors like age, height, weight, activity levels etc. It has only ever been designed as a rough figure.

It's a good start for people to understand the relative energy content in various foods based, against a figure for our energy expenditure. Much the same as the KJ quoted figure is going to be different from the actual food you are eating, but it helps educate consumers to make more informed choices.

    • How do you reheat the chicken when splitting into multiple meals? I find the microwave makes the skin all soggy and not as delicious :(

      • Philips Air-Fryer.

    • Thanks for the information, i will give it a pass, stick to my home made salad…

  • Will this work in Mt Isa, Queensland?

    • +1

I thought it was always 9 piece KFC in QLD all year round? Is that particular store famous for not doing it?

FYI, I was not sure if you are making some sort of joke or if that was a serious question as the year round QLD thing has been discussed in many threads including this one.

  • I'm not too sure i didnt think the deal was always on. In Perth its hardly ever on.

  • So confirming Victoria Gardens store still has hot and spicy all year round? And can this deal be used for H + S chicken?

    • +1

Yes and yes. Brought some on Thursday night. As good as ever. You can swap OR and H&S pieces with each other in any way at any store which sells H&S.

      • Nice thanks!

  • +9

I feel like I need to report this epic monologue just in case anyone needs to be convinced of how great this deal is.

  • +1

Just a question do those really small pieces count as 1? i ordered this last time and got 3 really small pieces

    • +1

If you get given a disproportionate amount of pieces (eg way more wings) I would put in a formal complaint (if you've already left the store) and you should get a voucher to get another same meal for free. I've made it a habit with KFC to check the bag/box before leaving to make sure you get what you ordered because they can rush sometimes (especially drive thru)

      • Thanks for the info will do it next time, i was just really supprised that they counted those 3 tiny pieces in the total amount.

    • +1

You should receive 2 winds/2 legs, so 4 small pieces.

  • +1

I think I remember hearing that KFC divides a chicken into 9 pieces, so this deal is basically a whole chicken

    • +3

Correct. The standard "head" of chicken at KFC is 2 ribs, 2 thighs, 2 wings, 2 drums and 1 breast. Back when I worked at KFC years ago this was the standard to give customers for the 9 piece deal.

      • What do they do with the other half of the breast?

And I realise I may be an idiot - but what's a chicken rib?

        • +1

It's that KFC piece that is largely skin/batter with some meat on the bonier part of the chicken. It also has definite ribs on the back side of the piece. Hard to describe but generally a piece that tastes full of yummy skin and batter and slightly stringy white meat.

        • +1

Well pretty much the breast is both sides of it, but it's chopped in half horizontally and the other half is the rib.

        • @oscinator1988:

          Gotcha. That makes sense, cheers.

  • +2

it took me 5 months to work off the last promo!

    • LMFAO!

  • +5

Hmm, 9 pieces of kfc chicken or 24 maccas nuggets 🤔
    ~8032kj vs ~4440kj
    ~full bird vs ~half bird

    • 24 nuggets at KFC how about?

      • 24 Nuggets finishes tomorrow, 9 for 9.95 stats tuesday.

    • +1

      Why not both?

      • +2

        Why not all three

    • 24 maccas nuggets expired 2 weeks ago.

      • thats why I love the Nugget Party Pack. 30 Nuggets + 2 large sides $15.95

  • Got this Tuesday night. Hadn't been there for ages so just assume its a regular thing

  • +1

Them dirty gainz from that dirty bird!

  • My local Chinese restaurant use to sell chicken pieces for 50 cents each until they closed down .😥

    • +3

      That's probably why they closed down .. 😆 .. !!

  • +2

For anyone who doesn't know, you get the following combination assuming the workers know what they are doing.

    • 2 thighs
    • 2 drumsticks
    • 2 wings
    • 2 ribs
    • 1 breast

= 1 whole chicken basically (that's how kfc divides a whole chicken)

    • So what if workers DON'T know what they are doing??

I remember one time I got 5 wings, 2 drum sticks and 2 ribs :(

      • +1

Could be just a really deformed chicken.

      • I would ask them to replace it with the correct pieces.

    • +1

Just letting you know that some of the junior trainees do get it wrong and don't know a wing from a thigh. Has happened before when we opened the box and got a wonky unbalanced combination. I rang the store just to provide feedback and spoke to the store manager. He apologised for his trainee staff not knowing the anatomy of a chicken (nor do I). And actually asked me to drop by the next day to get a full replacement box for free. (I did). You really want to hug them sometimes.
