  • Sorry our site is currently down!
Looks like our site’s fluffed a line of script. Hold fire while we fix things and give it another go in a bit.

    • Works for me, voucher came through instantly too. Thanks OP.

      • OK, went into my optus order history and was able to "download voucher" - actually a link to spotify with code.
Good timing, as the last account had a week left :)

If anyone doesn't want their 3 months Spotify coupon, I'll gladly accept it with thanks.

Thanks. Will try Spotify but I already subscribe to GPM.

  • I've been using Spotify Philippines for the last few months. Very happy to be paying $2.60 a month.

I've been using a modded APK that makes the phone think it's a tablet (unlimited skips and no forced shuffle) along with ad blocking.

      $0 a month.

      • -1

I've got the modded APK too. Can yours download to listen offline because that's the only thing mine can't do.

        • That's to with Spotify's servers. You'll never be able to go offline with a modded APK.

        • @BurnZ: And you also can't make use of the highest quality sound either.
I use it too but it's not quite the same as a legit premium subscription.

    • Can't seem to make a PH PayPal account, it requires a Drivers Licence or passport. Can anyone help?

      • Also I need a +63 phone number to activate said Paypal account, so that also won't work.

        • I didn't have trouble with any of that. Are you using Paypal from a PH IP address?

  • +5

I can confirm, you can cancel straight away and still enjoy the full 3 months access

    • I can also confirm that this is correct.

    • Hey, blonky and noz, did you both cancel it by going into cancel subscription and select 'Switch to Free'?

Would've thought that this'd change to make it a normal account?

      Thanks!

Nice post OP, an alternative for bargain hunters is to just pool up with a bunch of mates and open up a 'family' account, comes to $3.60 a month, hassle free solution for those that don't have the time and energy to keep finding ways around paying.

    Edit comes to $2.99 a month ($17.99/6)

seems to work even with the same credit car number. That's if you are willing to rebuild a playlist and make a new account

  • not that good, I have spotify from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/279292 and am only paying around $5.50 a month for a family account

    • its around $2.50 a month for a normal spotify premium account

  • I will have 6 months of spotify for 99 cents. Pretty good! thanks OP

Is the code unique? Not an optus customer but would love to have the link if its not unique. Cheers.

If you want to pay for a streaming service, can't go wrong with Google Play music. You get YouTube Red with it. Best value. They also pay better royalties to artists than Spotify.

Unsure if their curated playlists are better than Spotify

agreed. but a shocking user experience

$12 a month is a joke, especially for a student.
Follow Apple and make a student discount Spotify!

    • -4

      you're clearly still an ozbargain student…. $5 a month

      https://www.spotify.com/us/student/

      • Ah no that's for US students only

    • +5

$12 a month isn't that much if you consider how much music that gets you. I listen to music pretty much all day while i'm at work.i stream the highest quality and rack up between 1-1.3gb a day but being with Optus, it doesn't count to my monthly usage allowance so it's all G.

$12/m isn't a lot considering you would spend more than that on 1 Album from JB.

      • +2

        Yeah you have a point!
I just want lower pricing until I finish my degree and can not worry about it anymore :(

    • There are student discounts for spotify https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/302907

  • Got it! Thanks! :D

  • Whenever I try to log into optus perks it just takes me to the optus dashboard?

    • Use a laptop or desktop.

  • What's the cheapest way to get Optus Perks? Will a $2 SIM activate it or will I need a starter kit of some sort?

I'd love to neg this deal as Optus still haven't sent my 6 months Netflix code which was promised as part of their deal a year and a half ago. Not sure if the Ombudsman would deal with this case as it's not regarding their internet or phone service, but instead their basic theft at selling me a plan which included 6 months of Netflix which has not been provided. My brother signed up with Optus same week as I did and has not received his code either. Multiple phone calls and emails chasing it up are all replied to with the usual "We love to hear your feedback blah blah blah we'll get back to you" but nothing ever happens.

Usually (with their 'new' business model) they will post a promotion and it's up to the account holder to log onto their account, go to entertainment, and activate the promo deal. After that they will send your unique code. I assume this is so they buy the correct amount of licenses whilst not paying for and handing out licenses to those who would rather not. I had to do it to claim the EPL, i had to do it to claim Unmetered Spotify and iHeartRadio.

      Hope this helps.

My brother and I both did exactly that, well before the deal expiry. We both have confirmation emails telling us the code will arrive 'soon.'

After that they will send your unique code.

"After that they MIGHT send your unique code." - FTFY.

I have three emails and four SMS messages saying the code will arrive within 14 days. They're from October 2015.

I don't understand why people are negging my previous comment. Many people here and on Whirlpool have had this problem with Optus never sending a promised code. My brother has two friends who signed up with Optus and never received their code. This wasn't a freebie as I was not an existing customer. I signed up to Optus because their 6 months Netflix promotional offer was better than TPG's deals. Which means I already paid for that 6 months of Netflix, which was included in the 2 year contract. I never would have signed up with Optus if they didn't offer that deal, I would have just stayed with TPG. It's straight-up theft of $72. I actually left TPG because they stole $60 from me when they double-charged for moble data one month, charging me for excess data which I never used - three years later they haven't refunded it.

I spent a month in hospital last year and would have loved to have Netflix while I was recovering from surgery. But the code never arrived. I've paid for it, but can't use it. Why are so many people blatant liars these days? TPG rip me off, Optus rip me off. I don't have the energy to spend hours trying to fix everything. I'm too sick to deal with this crap.

EDIT: Optus are well aware of the problem, but despite multiple emails and phone calls they still haven't send out all the codes:
        https://yescrowd.optus.com.au/t5/TV-Entertainment/Haven-t-re…

        • Customer service is terrible; keep hounding them for the codes; or TIO is the final option

  • Thanks OP Ordered

  • Does anyone know if the start date of the trial is from the order date through Optus perks or the day you sign up to Spotify?
