20% off LEGO at Yogee Toys: Cargo Train $240 Normally $300

82

20% off all Lego. Just be careful as some of the items are cheaper elsewhere after the discount.

Example of a deal would be the Lego cargo train 60052 for $240
http://www.yogee.com.au/legor-city-60052-cargo-train.html

If you're in Sydney you can pick up from the store, otherwise I did a test on shipping to my address on the Gold Coast and it was $18.

This isn't a good deal at all. As an avid Lego collector, the 20% is first and foremost standard for the Australian scene and sales happen every 2 weeks or so.

The prices on offer are also inflated to make it look like they're actually on sale. At a quick glance, almost all of the Star Wars sets are more expensive when compared to other sales.

This isn't a good deal at all.

Yogee Bear is a good deal though…

Feel free to show me where you can get the Lego cargo train for cheaper than $240 which is the deal, otherwise your neg isn't valid.

      See guidelines on voting.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

I'll leave it until tomorrow to report the invalid vote in case you can come up with a better price as I haven't bought it yet (unless you get rid of your invalid vote in the mean time).

      Cheers. :)

I feel like my neg is justified - you've pointed to a single product in the sale that is cheaper than anywhere else - because it won't be found, not online anyway.

But what I can say with certainty, and something that while not explicitly mentioned in my original post is that on the whole, the majority of the sets has been or is currently cheaper at Target, BigW or Shopforme.

        Examples:

I think my neg is justified - it's harder to find a bargain in there than proving otherwise.

I've used Shopforme because they're currently the cheapest, but at a glance, you'll be better off buying from Big-W when you use your 5.5% cashrewards giftcard in conjunction with their inevitable 20% sale.

        • Cheaper price elsewhere
Mention store or URL and price making sure to include shipping.

The deal i listed is for the cargo train. You provided a link to better prices for a bunch of other products on the page.

May as well neg every single ebay deal, or any % off deals for any store based on your logic, because there will always be selected products from any stores sale for better prices elsewhere. I still think your neg isn't justified.

Quick look through eBay and yogee's price is excellent for the Cargo Train.

Parisian Restaurant at $199 is good value too.

And yes these 20% off sales are every couple of weeks. But if you want to buy it now, these are two good prices.

          eBay:
          LEGO City Cargo Train 60052
AU $252.00 inc p&h (from using 10% code, you know the one I mean)

        • @chillyray:
Not sure. The only one I can see is the targeted offer? Got an eBay link to the product?
          Cheers

          @Name:

I just searched on eBay: lego 60052, sort cheapest + postage, in Australia:
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LEGO-City-Cargo-Train-60052-New-a…

          and use CAU10, $251.99

…an eBay 10% discount code is always around, my point being that I see the Yogee Toys deal only being $12 cheaper.

          oh, wait, Yogee doesn't include shipping at that price? so… $240 + $18 ?

Yep , poor deal. Move along,

I've been keeping an eye out for either one of the current LEGO train sets to go on sale… this Cargo set is alright I guess at $240, but I don't think the RRP is $300 is it? Kind of concerned now coz of the comments above.

What's the best online store to check realistic RRPs and also can anyone see this Cargo Train set at a better price? (in case I've missed a bargain?)

    • +1

The Cargo Train's RRP is indeed AU$299.99 http://brickset.com/sets/60052-1/Cargo-Train
Other than that, I agree that there are no other deals to be had on that site.

    • I've seen the Cargo Train is listed at Lego.com at AUD$299. And I've seen it at BigW for the same price.

I don't think there's a best store to check RRPs. It seems that Lego is perpetually on sale somewhere for 20% offf.

So you've just got to keep a lookout. Some people have favourites eg shopforme.com.au whilst others keep an eye out for sales at BigW, Myer or David Jones. I just keep an eye out on ozbargain. Someone is bound to find some good Lego deals which they post here.

      But you've gotta be quick.

  • When it comes to lego sales, I think that sets that are common and have just come out, tend to be able to be obtained at > 20% discounts. But for sets that not many stores stock like the cargo train, then whatever discount is a good discount.

With the cargo train, it's not as stocked at many other shop fronts anymore. BigW cleared their stock out 2 years ago for $150 each. While I haven't seen these at Kmart, Target or DJ's anymore. Myer generally have these pop up on occasion, but they really don't sell that well and it's also a massive box, so I think to them, they would rather keep newer sets stocked on shelves.

  • wish they had city square

  • Picked up the cargo train and parisian restaurant. definitely cheaper than anywhere else. waiting for the brick bank to be on discount somewhere and the assembly square.

  • Have ordered the parisian restaurant! Cheaper than anywhere else atm. The Big Ben and the Mini Cooper also good deals!
