  These guys are pretty much my go to now for hotel bookings, the perpetual 16% discount makes it much cheaper than AUD portals, just make sure you have an international fee-free card to book with.

    The CitiPlus card has no foreign fees. Lots of OzB info on this. Good card for travel.

  One short coming of Cheaptickets is that I often like to book 12 months in advance, well out of range of their discount code 'stay periods'. But, on the plus side, a lot of the hotels that I look at with them are fully refundable.
  I pay with Citibank Plus ( Can only use as an ATM & Debit card and so need to have the funds in the account)

    I think you will find any OTA that offers discount codes like these has a fairly narrow period for booking & travel. The best part about Cheap Tickets is that it seems to be perpetually 16% off, as opposed to Expedia/Priceline who rarely have blanket discounts, only targeted "sales" to help bump up certain hotels.

      They used to do 20% off but over time they have reduced it to 18% and now 16%.

  is there a max discount? Hotel reservation comes to $2115 and it's giving me exactly $150 off. Tried a few different hotels and getting a max $150 off for the stay.

    I have just edited to direct people to T & C's.
    "Customers are limited to two redemptions of this promotion code and up to a maximum savings of $150 per booking."
    If you get a favourite hotel that can be cancelled, try splitting the booking, or put half in partners name.

  Hi, i found a property in Rome that was discounted and when I went to pay there seemed to be no provision for the discount code. Was within the time. Presume you cant discount on discounted property.

    Not necessarily so, however some hotels are excluded. Join CheapTickets first (via ebates referral of course ;)
    When I log in and book a hotel there is a place under the security code under the credit card. Also if it is not a 'saved card' there will be a spot to enter 'billing zip code' before the Enter a 'coupon or promotion code'

  Orbitz current 15% off TAKEMEAWAY code + 2.5% cashback from Ebates works out cheaper actually.

      yeah but orbitz and cheaptickets are always the same rates. it was better when cheaptickets had 18% off all the time :(

        GOOD POINT! I just checked some and you are correct. And so the difference is that you save 1% on the upfront price with Cheaptickets , but get 1.25% higher rebate with Orbitz? I am never confident about rebates coming through, and so, personally I will probably stick with Cheaptickets if thats the case.

        I've used Ebates before with CheapTickets and they have credited the cashback amount to my account much quicker than CashRewards have done in the past with hotel bookings. (I booked 16/12/16 for a 30/12/16-04/01/17 stay and got the credit on 06/01/17!)

        I have just booked with Orbitz for a trip in 10 days time. Will update if Ebates tracks it. Ebates previously tracked it in a little over 1 hour after I booked.

        But yeah even though the 2.5% is off the discounted price after using the coupon, it still works out ever so slightly cheaper than the 1.25% with CheapTickets.
