SSDs are better in every way, only reason you'd want a HDD is cost.

Depends. You can buy 4TB SSD 2.5" 7mm. But HDD maximum size in this form factor is 1Tb.

Yes, in particular people have reported the USB connector on the sandisk breaking easily, as well as lost data. The samsung is a 2nd generation product, while the sandisk is their 1st generation, afaik.
I love my T3, esp when USB3 is available on the PC. About the size of two phone batteries side by side (old nokia type). Got it off Amazon US for about $20-30 (i think?) below this with del.
