I've never heard of Etihad Airlines before… Has anyone ever flown with them? Are they reliable? Is their service any good? What type of pilots do they hire? ;o

I found a review on them by customers at: http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/etihad.htm if anyone's interested. Most of the reviews sound pretty bad =/Etihad is probably one of the best airlines. Very reliable, excellent service. This is excellent value.

Not sure how you havent heard of them before but many have and usually think that it's just Emirates. Having said that it is a fairly new airline. Anyway, heres the low down - The UAE (United Arab Emirates) is a filthy rich nation (like most) in the middle east. It is made up of various arab states, hence united, and the ruler of the state that controls Dubai set up Emirates airlines. Not to be outdone, the ruler of Abu Dhabi passed an order for Etihad to be set up and voila it was born in 2003.
Now to answer your other questions, yes have flown with them, yes they are reliable, yes being a new airline and in direct competition with emirates and with their respective sheiks reputations on the line both etihad and emirates go out of their way to provide good service.

I have flown Etihad to Europe last October, then they were better than Emirates last May. No problems, good selection of entertainment, all OK.
For me it'd be 'go eating in Singapore!' :P Good price though limited travel times, as usual.
Also good deal with upgrade to 3 nts at grand copthorne hotel for $899. nice find op.
