This thread serves to let everyone know how much you have saved on your 7/11 fuel app.

Step 1: Subscribe to this thread to get email updates. You can change your subscription settings in your Ozbargain account to enable more/less email updates.

Step 2: Upon filling up simply fill in the details in this format:

  • NAME OF 7/11 STORE
  • PETROL TYPE
  • PETROL PRICE

There are two "tricks" that can be extremely beneficial as there is a common trend experienced by 7-Eleven App users: 1) If you receive an error processing your credit/debit card, you can purchase a 7-Eleven Gift Card in-store and apply the credits instantly onto the App. 2) You do not need to use the funds on your App to pay for the fuel, you can lock-in the price and pay via Cash or Card at the checkout saving the hassle of constantly topping up, gift cards, etc.

    Hey everyone, so I had a bit of time and replicated the python script that nurries made, and went one step further as well.

    I'll pretty much always post the updated prices (for WA and NSW) in this thread, but if you're out and about, here is a really easy link to the most up to date prices from my script:

    You should be able to add that to your homescreen on your phone etc. for easy access.

    Keep in mind that there will often be cheaper prices in SA, QLD or VIC, so let's keep contributing those prices as well.

    Anyone have any good method of locking the price? That is less time consuming.

    It took me almost 30 mins to lock it in… Because of the mock location thing. Going back and forth between the fuel app, fake gps app and developer mode mock locations…

      Not sure why it would take you that long once it's set up. Whole process should take less than 2 mins and even less if you know where you want to lock it in at.
      I usually use petrol spy to see where to lock into…probably the longest part. After that, set location, and lock in price.

      I'll share the issue I face. I can't lock with my S2 and Galaxy Note 2, but I can with my S7. The process to set mock location is different because of different OS. In S2, I have to check a box to set mock location and I can't select any app as mock location app. Just a checkbox and nothing else. In S7, I have to choose an app like: fake gps.

      The whole process takes much longer in S2 and Note 2 because cleaning the apps from memory doesn't solve mock location error unless I uncheck the mock location from developer options. So one more extra step involved. The moment I uncheck, gps sets my actual location as current location.

      In S7, I don't have to do anything with developer options. It takes some time for gps to return to my current location.

      May be I'm doing the whole thing wrong.

        I have a similar problem its with an old S3 and i get this error. The app wont let me get any location as long as the developer mock location setting is ticked, whether i have a fake gps app running or not.

        Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

        I am using a S2Plus to lock the price, i guess i am having the same problem with you.

        Sometimes i have to use 2 fake gps apps to lock location to make it work, but it takes so much time, not a couple mins job…

        Mate, try to restart your phone whenever you have difficulty to lock in prices. It always works for me and I can even lock in the price on fuel apps while fake gps apps is active.

          I think S6 & S7 have same OS. I can easily do it in my S7. May be the issue is with S2/S3 OS (Android 4?)

          Ok, here are the steps i normally do.

          Developer Options tick Allow Mock Location > Fake GPS locked location > 7-11 App Find My Best Local Price > Mock Location Error > Untick Allow Mock Location in Developer Options > Usually the Fake GPS app will start not working > 7-11 App if i am lucky or fast enough i can lock the cheap price or the app will detect my current location.

          @yasirfarabi: Yep seems like it could be an issue with S2/3 and/or android 4. Not sure if rooting will help the issue, any thoughts?

          @chillybags: Rooting may or may not help, there was a few comments about it a couple of pages back. Something about the latest versions having better root detection. Think it has something to do with how root access is gained

          Tried with a rooted phone. 7/11 app can detect rooted phone and prevents locking.

      You can check prices at different locations without faking your location use the Store Finder menu rather than the Fuel Price Lock menu. You will still need to fake your location to lock in the price.

        Thanks. Any tips to get it working? I'm trying FakeGPS Free but the 7-11 app keeps detecting mock locations is enabled. I am running the latest android and have tried limiting location to 'GPS' only and tried via both wifi and 4G but can't get it to work.

          What phone are you using? Have you ticked "no Root Mode" in Fake GPS Free settings? In Developer Settings, "Select mock location app", have you selected Fake GPS Free?
          Also check the version of the 7-11 app you are using. I had to go back to 1.1.1 (806) to get it to work. See Steve-o comments in link for details.

      I haven't had a problem. Canberra has perpetually inflated petrol prices. I fill up once every week or two at NSW prices — later today at Western Australian prices (Monday cheapest in WA, if all other states are high, lock in on Monday).

      Given that nobody answers support emails for the 7-11 app — I doubt anyone is looking or cares from the app development side.

      I don't think the franchisees care either. 7-11 is an odd profit share model. My understanding for a normal non-fuel outlet head office takes 50% of the profit margin on goods sold. In the case of the fuel outlets, head office pretty much runs the fuel side - not sure if the operator gets anything for fuel sales, or only for shop sales.

          What works for me is this
          Fake gps - > google maps current location - > 7-11 app (may need to try and lock couple of times).
          Google maps seems to cache location so it works even after mock location is disabled.

          @lgacb08: if you can be bothered, you can fill up the minimum delivery and use your voucher. Then you can lock in again at the better price.

        Mine also crashed as I went to scan :(.
        Had to delete and reinstall the app to fix the issue. Lock was still retained.

    I am in version 1.0.7 and it force me to update to newer version by re-directing to app store, anybody in the same boat?

      Don't think there's much you can do. I was on 1.1.1 but also forced to update. New version can now detect that I'm rooted :(
