How are these an improvement over the <$5 chinese torches?

    • +7

Longeivety, reputable name brand, good warranty, brightness as advertised, solid construction, uses a popular battery size and Aus stock.

    • The switches are better on the LED Lenser. The $5 torch's switch tends to fail after a few uses (based on my own experiences)

      • I have 3 or 4 year old torchers now…never a failed switch. A few of them get used daily.

I think mine were from Banggood. But I wasn't thrilled with delivery time.

    • I haven't bought another <$5 Chinese torch for a few years after my last one was ultra disappointing.

Had a LED Lenser beforehand, but lost it. The cheapo Chinese one I bought seemed to have similar specs but just didn't compare.

Jumped on this deal straight away given how much I've missed my old LED Lenser.

    • I've also found that my Chinese cheapies usually start playing up after not much use.

Cheers OP, was in need of a decent torch for work!

  • Is this an online deal only? Any retail store anywhere?

    • Think they have a Sydney store, but not sure if the special is online only or not.

  • Good build quality on these

  • The previous deal was marked expired but I don't think they sold out so kept extending the deal.

I got one of the last time around, much better build quality than cheap focus lights, I bought it mainly to add a nice focus light to my collection, bear in mind that this light is not regulated, so is best run with eneloop or similar (flatter discharge curve)

I did have an issue with an intermittent contact (light flickering on / off) when bumping the light or using the focus system that I fixed by slightly stretching out the tail cap spring.

In my opinion this torch is good for the price if someone wants reasonable throw, from a single AA, as most alternatives in this form factor are more spill orientated. If you can deal with non standard batteries or want to pay more then there are better alternatives.

Thanks OP, great torches, great price.
    Picked up both

  • I've had the older T5 for years. Great torches. Bright, reliable, excellent build quality. Ordered some more for "family and friends". (I'm family and friends… right?)
