  • How many Amps on the USB charging ports? I had a Jackson USB Charger with 4 outlets that provided a total of 2A!

      • "1 amp quick charge" is all it says. Would like to assume that's per port but you can't tell.

        • +1

          It'll be total.

On some of their other products there's "(total)" in the fine print.

        • +1

I doubt it can even charge an ipad @ 1amp… you'll be waiting 24 hours with the iPad off at this rating.

        • I think they're being liberal with the use of the word "quick" here.

        • @lostn:

And by liberally, I think they mean totally incorrectly.

Another one here from COTD - $24.99 but has 6 outlets and 4x USB (5v/4.2a).

    • safe to say this on is a lot better than OP's one, based on the USB charging speed?

      • +1

The selling point of the OP is really the built in USB hub.

        • Ohh, did not notice that bit. Fair enough then!

      • I'd agree, the 1A breaks it for me, the Sansai has 4.2A!!

        • I've been looking for a nice surge protection strip for my PC & lappy that sits on the work desk plus one for the bedroom. So a minimum of 6 ports.

        • @lordra:
I just used this and got another $10 off the Sansai one on COTD. Came to $21.94 delivered.

        • @JLCC: Coupon Code not available. Dammit!

    • The shipping though.

      • get two and a beach towel and you're sorted!

    This includes

    • 370mm long
    • 2 x 'normal spaced' power outlets
    • 2 x 'extra spaced' outlets for plugpack power supplies
    • 4 x USB charging ports (up to 1A total load), Quick Charge
    • built-in 4-way USB 2.0 hub (host lead required for computer connection).

1A total load is terrible. Would not advise anyone buy this for charging anything more than a bunch of smart watches. Unlikely to charge a phone or tablet unless they are switched off. 1A alone running from a single port would probably charge a phone or tablet, but as soon as you plugged in more than one device it'll halve or quarter the output.
I bought the Sansai one from COTD and it seems pretty decent. The blue LED is super bright though so it's annoying in a bedroom at night.

      • All smartphones these days give chargers with 2.1A or more.

    • 1 Amp total load? That can't be right.

So if you have 4 devices, each is getting 0.25A?

where are you getting these specs?

  • Wish the hub was usb 3.0 but not a bad deal.

    • I believe ur after a usb 3.0 desktop hub that u plug into ur laptop/desktop or macbook?
This product only charges ur device it doesnt have usb 3.0 speeds.
Usb 3.0 charging only delivers 0.9amps which would be less than the product in this deal.

  • Bit confused about the 4 x "Hub" ports… Can these also be used as ports for charging?

    • Yes. That is what it is for.

  • Whats the joule rating (surge protector)?

    • Datasheet

      Surge protection 175J

      • thanks. that pretty weak. would like something atleast 400+

If only this deal were for the Jackson 5 model. I blame it on the boogie.

    • Control yourself.

    • Ahh Dr PhilGood, the way you makin' me feeeeeeel!

  • How does the 4 usb hub work ?

    • You will need to purchase a USB 2.0 A to B cable (not supplied). Type A end plugs into the USB port of pc and the other end in the type B socket on the power board. This will allow you to use the 4 port USB 2 hub

  • I wonder if the COTD Sansai product meets Australian Standards. I believe this is an issue with importing the Mi powerboards, for example. Since the Sansai one doesn't seem to be sold by mainstream stores, I wonder if this is the case. Anyone know?

  • Need one with individual switches, anyone seen any decent boards with individual switches?

  • Bought one of these before, the USB ports broke pretty quick. Anyways know a fix, because this is pretty much what you're buying it for?
