If you've ever bought a refurbished console from EB games, you'll never want to but a refurbished anything else from them.
    Quality is terrible.

Wouldnt iphones be covered under Apple warranty and ACL regardless of where it's bought?

      • +1

The Apple warranty would most likely have expired by now, you might get lucky with a 6S if the serial number looks to apple like it was sold within the last 2 years…ACL will apply with regards to second hand items, but they will take into account age and condition…and in my experience with a refurb console from EB the condition can be quite poor

        • I think you should be fine with the iphone 6S given it's still within the two years warranty period. Only thing that concerns me is not being able to see the phone.

          @nightelves:

Not really as you won't know the history of the phone. They may receive it with a cracked screen or has had a screen replacement by a third party and this would void the warranty.

It's hit and miss for sure. I bought two iPods one was perfect condition and the other you could see gaps where the screen had being glued on.

        • @Hipmumma:

Was going to say the exact same thing. Water sensors may have also been tripped.

        • Also depends if warranty is transferable ….If things like had aftermarket screen replacements or was dropped in water are an issue with warranty even for original owners.

The phone might be working but physical aesthetic condition is likely to be horrible.
Refurbished phones merely need to be working. They can be heavily scratched or dented and filthy.
Anyone like me who has purchased refurbished consoles and controllers from EB games can attest to this.
EB games claim they clean and test controllers, but I've received dead ones and very filthy ones.

  • This is EB Games'"pre-owned warranty":

If this product stops working within 3 months of purchase, simply return it to any EB Games store along with your receipt, and we’ll happily exchange it for another copy! This product may not include original packaging or instruction manual.

  • So people can just walk to any EB and sell their used iPhone? Anyone know how much $ they will buy for?

    • not much
about the same price as most pawn shops

Cash convertors are pretty reasonable IMHO if you need fast cash
they offer the best market price so far

*market price based on second hand goods, much better than most other lenders etc
won't be anywhere near as much as gumtree or ebay but take into consideration this

      • time wasters
        -lowballers
        -stuff arounds

you'd be much better if you wanted to offload it doing it with cashies than have numerous no shows or time wasters
the second hand market is flooded with iphones anyway so its really pot luck as to how your results will go

I have always found resale value good on the iphone range

Hmm can you later say was stolen and get the Emei blocked …. Or I cloud ?

      • Well, you could, I suppose. But the buyer will have a receipt saying they purchased it from you, and it would be a crap move.
Why would you do that after they had given you cash?

      • Gee you want to learn how to become scammer…

      • As a part of selling to cash converters you will be made to sign a document saying the iphone your selling is unemcumbered and totally unlocked as in icloud and itunes can't be used to lock it remotely. If it isnt they can recover costs from you for selling them a bricked phone.
(Friend used to work for them couple years ago when they started doin this)
As usual as part of the sale to them you agree that its not stolen etc and will have to deal with the police if it is found to be stolen goods.

    • In 2015 i sold my iphone 5 to ebgames for $250. The lock button didn't work and the screen has been replaced once. The home button was also slightly crooked as the phone had not been put back together properly after the screen was fixed. The back of the phone also had a ton of scratches. Funnily enough, i saw it on sale in the same store a few weeks later for $350… the phone had a cover on it to hide the scratches and the home button was still crooked…. LOLLL

  • I would love to see a description of the EB Games refurbishment process.

      1. Lowball seller
      2. Inflate price
      3. Place in display cabinet
