Well at $249 it was probably overpriced anyway since it appears to be the same as this for $164 delivered.
Same
And this one for $152.25 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Shogun-500W-Belt-Disc-Sander-Powe…
Would that like be comparing Ryobi vs Ozito?
@eug: No its the same machine just a different colour. But who cares the Ryobi is cheap lol
@AMLagonda: Are you 100% sure? How do you know?
@eug:
Well, without pulling it apart can't know for sure, but Ryobi is far from a high end brand so there is a good chance they come out of the same factory.
Doesn't really matter now since the Ryobi is the cheaper option anyway, and with easier warranty returns.
@bamzero: Ryobi is positioned as an entry-mid-level brand. Ozito (and XU1, 909, Homelite, etc), is at the bottom. They can all look very similar, and in some instances may be absolutely identical internally, but with the stuff I've bought, Ryobi does feel better built than the entry stuff.
I'd expect generic no-name brands on eBay to be more similar to Ozito/XU1/909/etc than Ryobi. Shipping heavy items is a bit risky too.
anyone else see that Bunnings range is shrinking to only a few brands that they have agreements with now? We will all regret not supporting masters more when we are bent over and slipped the sausage from Bunnings with every purchase.
Yea seems they are clearing lines. They got rid of Mcculloch. Shrinking the Fiskar lines. What is next?
when Masters first opened a staff member told me they didn't stock Makita because Bunnings threatened Makita that they would stop stocking Makita if they supplied to Masters. No idea how true it was, but I personally reckon Bunnings has already slipped us all that sausage many times over, without us ever lining up at their BBQ out the front
Bunnings have been (profanity) us all for ages, but everyone loves them. Their marketing people have done an excellent job of making everyone love a big corporate brand that put lots of smaller hardware stores out of business, and frequently has a limited range at not-so-great prices (this deal excepted).
Masters were great. As a woodworker, they had many things I couldn't get at Bunnings and would have to pay a premium for elsewhere (e.g. Titebond glues) and quality American brand tools at great prices (Swanson brand stuff was great). They also carried a larger range of timbers. My only gripe with Masters was there wasn't one anywhere near me (my fault for living in country Victoria) and their power tool selection was overly limited (not their fault).
Note, most of the Makita stuff at Bunnings are custom models that aren't equivilent to what you'd get from a pro tool shop. They're designed as budget models with corners cut.
Yup. We're down to 3, and independants.
Bunnings, Mitre10, and Home Hardware.
Masters was OK, but I find Mitre10 has what Bunnings dont.
I'd call this a linisher
brand diversity is probably 25% of what it was initially, and now Masters is dead they WILL adopt a you can get what your given attitude towards the consumer until another challenger steps up the take em on on our behalf. Go into the mower isle and you'll see what I mean.
I heard on the grapevine that fatmax are going in to bunnings shortly
that's a bit of good news. Incidentally I have found the 18V fatmax series to be very good. It's on par with the entry level Milwaukees.
Yeha I have the jigsaw and the drill/driver combo, both pretty skookum.
Been watching Ave lately? lol
Good enough for the girls I go out with
None on Brisbane northside it seems. Carseldine has one reported in Stock but it appears to be a phantom.
Got one at Mt Gravatt East, none at the new Mt Gravatt store on Logan Road. Pretty sure there was at least one other one there as well as the one on display.
Can i use this as a treadmill for my cat?
This would be bit rough to use on your muffy,
unless of course you haven't trimmed it lately
Muffy's claws I mean
Anyone bought one? what are you going to use it for?
I wonder if its just good for sanding or is it fast enough to Linish?
A linisher for timber is usually half the speed of this machine. At 2900 RPM, this is targeted at metalwork. At this speed, you risk burning the wood if not careful.
Aldi must have a sale coming?
