  • Should state that some colours of the Metropolis bag is down to $219 from $449, which is a really good price for this bag, although every second person I see on the streets nowadays carry this bag. It's a lovely mini bag still, I own one myself.

    • +1

you can probably add another colour to your collection

      • +1

Tempting. I need to turn off ozbargain today as this post is dangerous, extremely dangerous for a self-confessed bag addict such as myself.

    • I'm going to check out the $219 Metropolis bag today instore at Brisbane. Thanks for the heads up, I need to retire my old handbag - it was gifted by my ex and I want to get rid of it!

      • +1

The $219 is the smallest one, the mini version. It's very cute with a chain strap, good for nights out. They have bigger sized Metropolis bags too but I think the mini one is the most iconic. If you need an every day work bag, I would suggest the Piper or even the Artesia (not sure if the Artesias are on sale though).

My ex gifted me a Furla bag ten years ago when the brand is literally unknown here in Melbourne, but it is such a good quality bag and I loved it to death. I used it non-stop for a few years and it still looked brand new. It is pretty much retired now but I refuse to sell it as I'm emotionally attached to it (to the bag that is, not the ex).

        • +16

Lol, I noticed something from your guys posts - the person who gifted you the bag, is now your ex…

Thanks for the heads up, won't be buying this, I love my gf dearly

        • @montorola:
Lol, jamball just said that her ex gave her a bag which she wants to get rid of. I was the one who mentioned that my ex just happened to gift me a Furla bag in the past. My DH gave me three Furla bags since then, so you'll be fine, get her one. :)

        • +1

Thanks Jerrizhao, I got the $219 Metropolis bag in black. I'll be using it for nights out or on the weekend.

You're right about the mini bag not being suitable for work - I won't be retiring my everyday bag for the time being, it's still got lot of wear left, even though it's from my ex ;)

        • +1

          @jamball:
You go, gurl! I retired mine mainly because it's white and I didn't want to get it dirty, but since it's summer now, I might just pull it out again and use it more.

My Metropolis Mini is in black too, we're bag twins!

        • @montorola: thanks for the heads up, I am not offering a Furla bag to wife…

    • +37

Don't buy the $500 bag and have nothing in it.
Buy the $50 and have $450 in it.
Don't go broke trying to look rich.

      • +1. Words to live by!

      • +17

In this case, they will buy the $250 bag and have $250 leftover to spend on shoes.

        • +1

Haha, you seem to have women all figured out

        • +1

          @montorola:

I have more chances of winning 3 novel prizes than figuring women out :)

        • +1

@JB1: I'd like to read your books to see if you're worthy of novel prizes.

        • @Munki:

lol.. I was supposed to type nobel prizes!

      • +2

Or invest in a $500 bag so you wont need to buy 10 cheap ones that keep breaking.

        • +1

or, spend $100 for bag that won't break

Unless it's making you money or gaining value, it's not an investment ;)

        • a lot of designer bags actually do gain value because of increasing prices, so yeah they're an investment ;)

        • +1

@twoweeks: Only exclusive bags which have limited production…These ones are essentially slightly upmarket throwaway fashion accessories. Their value will not likely increase.

    • yep

  • Is Furla a good brand? Maybe I'll get my wife something.

Where does it sit in terms of street credibility?

    Coach/Michael Kors?

    • +2

Would be above those two brands… as a Singaporean told me once, Coach is diluted nowadays, and MK seems to be everywhere

Irrespective of that, Furla makes quality goods.

    • +1

Furla is classier for sure. Someone who is into designer brands would be more.. impressed? by Furla than Coach and Michael Kors which are mainstream brands people buy to look like they have brand names. The fact that there is a bunch of obvious fake coach and MK doesn't help that.

    • +7

I would class Furla above Coach and Michael by Michael Kors and below luxury designer brands such as Gucci, LV and etc. Years ago, all their bags used to be made in Italy, now only some of them are, others are made in Romania. The quality is still top notch though but then again, Coach and MMK bags all have excellent quality too. Personally I wouldn't buy Coach in Australia as they mark up the prices so much and I don't think their bags are worth that amount of money. Michael Kors has the more higher signature range and the Michael by Michael Kors range, I'm assuming you mean the MMK range and most bags you see people carry on the street are from the MMK range anyway. Their Selma bag is everywhere but there are reasons behind it, it's the perfect size, very versatile, comes in a range of colours and the saffiano leather is absolutely durable. So they've basically created a style that every woman loves, which isn't a small feat by any means. The less well known Michael Kors Collections range actually produces some really nice pieces, but the cost is also a lot higher.

If you're looking for something more unique, go with Furla as long as you don't get the Metropolis Mini or their Candy bags. If you're just after something with good quality and durable, then you can't go past the saffiano leather on MMK bags.

      Good luck.

    • Thanks for the details answer guys (or gals).

The reasons I ask is the price sits around Coach/Michael Kors price IIRC.

I know Coach is priced very highly in Aust, in America they are cheap, especially a the outlets. Quality of Coach is pretty good. I have 2 belts and a man bag I use for work for the past 6 years and they are holding up very well, even though they are made in China/India. The price I paid for them would be similar to Oroton.

Anyway I'll ask my wife if she would like something. I think she's after a Chanel or Hermes handbag, so this is a cheaper option.

The thing with my wife is that she doesn't look after her stuff, she's has a few LV bags that she seldom uses (nor does she want to sell them), so I can't justify paying for a Chanel or Hermes handbag (notwithstanding they aren't worth the price). She's given away a LV bag I bought for her to her sister because she doesn't use it anymore. So going forward, I'll get a cheaper bag for her.

I can't see why you'd buy a fake Coach or MK, if you're going to get a fake bag, at least counterfeit something higher end :D

      • Does she not look after it or just not use it? if I owned an LV I would probably not use it every day, but if she is actually not looking after her designer bags then I would question why you keep buying them for her.. (unless she bought the other bags herself) It baffles my mind that someone would give away a gift, and a louis vuitton at that :/ Good call buying her something cheaper! Maybe it's just hard for me to understand as I don't have the kind of money to spend on multiple designer bags haha.

And yeah I think going to America put me off buying coach.. it's so cheap there and EVERYONE seems to have it. I can understand why people buy them if they are good quality but I don't like owning the same things as everyone else haha.

        • +1

Does not look after it well nor use some much. When I say that, she doesn't mistreat it but doesn't take care of them. Put it in the original cotton bag when not using it like some girls do? Forget that, it's just shoved in the corner. She doesn't use some of them much because they are either too small or too big to use everyday (not because she's trying to keep them new).

I'm ok with her giving one to her sister, at least it's being used (and my wife used it everyday for a while).

Why do I keep buying it for her? I'm not anymore! Well at least I'm trying to buy cheaper ones :D She doesn't buy it herself or without consulting me, we have to agree when it comes to expensive non-essential items. I come on OZB to save a dollar or two so she can blow it! lol, happy wife, happy life.

I'm a male, so it doesn't bother me if every other male wears Coach, as they are fairly good quality and cheap (at least when I went to the US). Females, no so much. One reason she wants a Chanel or Hermes is because LV has got too popular over the years.

        • @JB1:
I haven't owned LV bags before myself so I can't say for sure, but just looking at their coated canvas bags makes me think that the corners would get worn really quickly with everyday wear even if you look after it carefully. And because of the material, I wouldn't know how to restore it either. One day I might buy something from them in the Epi leather, but I would never get the monogrammed canvas stuff.

Chanel leathers are actually all quite delicate. The lambskin is the most delicate, but even the caviar and the calfskin are pretty fragile so maybe try convince your wife she doesn't need one? Honestly, I was looking at them a while ago too and showed them to my hubby, he did not find much appeal in Chanel bags as much as some of my other bags. I felt the same towards the Birkin, it's just not that attractive!

        • +1

@jerrizhao: the canvas on the LV bags is actually pretty durable (if youre sensible of course) the only problem is the interiors of the bags, because theyre so light they get dirty easily. Also the darker canvas shades are better as they dont stain from jeans etc. I just cant believe how much the price of the neverfulls has gone up over the years

        • +1

          @jerrizhao:

the quality of the LV bag is really good actually, I use the LV neverfull everyday and it is still going strong after 4+ years :) and yes the damier canvas is much more better than the azur as they wont stain as much as the azur.

In terms of the chanel leather quality, I do agree that the lambskin is so delicate, but the calfskin is so durable, I dont really use my lambskin chanel a lot as Im really afraid to scratch the leather, but I use my chanel calfskin a lot, and still no visible scratch at all :)

        • @jerrizhao:

'maybe try convince your wife she doesn't need one?'

Oh, we all agree she doesn't need one. 'Want' well that's a different story :)

        • @JB1:
True. I usually just tell hubby I got a good discount. The inner bargain hunter in us won't be able to resist that.

Btw, it's great to see all the girls commenting today on this post. We definitely need more female presence in here!

        • @jerrizhao:

Good discount? That won't fly with me.

This male knows that LV/Chanel/Hermes never discount their bags.

        • @JB1:
Ah, not those brands, no. My DH knows that they're never on sale too, and I haven't stepped into LV, Chanel or Hermes territory yet. I just shop on Reebonz and every time I get something, I just tell him it's discounted.

        • @jerrizhao:

Yeah, my friend has a lambskin Chanel bag and it looked terrible after a few years :( I don't think she was really taking much care when storing it or handling it which definitely wouldn't help.

    • I have never even heard of Coach or Michael Kors. Should I be a tiny bit proud of myself, or embarrassed? I'm not sure. :)

      • +2

Depends on the circles you're in!

Some people would view an LV as a prized possession. Others wouldn't be seen dead with a LV.

Me, I'm male so it's just a bag, you're not impressing me with it.

I suppose the male equivalent of a bag is a watch.

  • Website not properly working on the Android tab. No matter wherever you click, it goes back to the base url http://www.furla.com/au/en/eshop

  • not working for me either - desktop

    • That explains why they have flat 50% sale and not mentioned "up to"

When I looked at http://au.furla.com/store/furlau/en_AU/pd/ThemeID.39243800/p…, the price shows AU$ 999,999.00. Not a bargain!

    • +3

It's a bargain if the original price is $1,999,998.

Don't forget to get TRS refund of $909,090, even you don't have plan to travel, make one!

      • +2

Make sure someone else brings it back into Australia and not you.

  • thanks OP.

Valentine's day settled, plus an additional "get out of jail" gift too!

  • My wife was given a custom made Furla bag just recently but the lady who gifted it had a very bad taste of colours. Haha. The Bag itself is practical and of good quality.

    • Must be the Artesia bag.

      • Just googled Artesia. Yeah you are right :)

  • Can anyone who has been in store comment if there are more colour options available ? :)

    • Yes, the Brisbane store had loads of the mini Metropolis bags in a range of colours, online they only stocked white.

  • +1

Be careful of the prices in store - it was more expensive than the website! And the salesperson gave me the biggest attitude when I went back to get the difference refunded (less than $10, but every dollar counts!)

    • Which store?

  • +1

Showed misus this post, 30 minutes later got a bag in chadstone, now shes an ozbargainer

  • One of the staff at the shop told me that they hide some popular colours during the storewide sale. They can still sell you these at full price if you ask.

  • +1

"Daisy" style Sold out. : (

    • saw some daisy but only 2 colors

      • Yes, now only Pink colour in stock. Got 1

  • Any thought on "Linda"? It caught my eyes an I was shopping for an everyday bag for work. (Still haven't bought one yet)

    • Personally I prefer the large main compartment to have a zip closure, rather than the 2 side sections only.

  • It's listed that the sale ends tomorrow. Does that mean tomorrow is the last day? Just confirming as if it is I might drop by the shop tomorrow to have a look.

Apparently the Adelaide outlet is a part of JR Duty Free. Does anyone know if they stock a wide variety there? And if they are part of the sale? Thank you!

      The SMS I received says:
      Dear Xxxxxx
The Furla Final Sale Preview Starts Today! Exclusive access to 50% Off Everything for 2 Days Only (Wed 18 & Thur 19 Jan) Inc. New Styles & Markdowns - Instore & Online Now at Furla.com .sms stop to opt out.

  • anyone been to Emporium Melbourne and check the stock ??

  • Trying to amend an order
Anyone know their online phone number?

  • Just so everybody is aware, this promotion is continuing over the weekend. The first two days were just a "preview". I don't believe there will be any different stock (I may be wrong), but the 50% off sale is still going on, at least in store. Not sure about online.

    • Hi Earlobe, can you explain why the store won't give 50% handbag chains?

The sale is advertising '50% off everything' yet won't give 50% off the chains that are inside the drawers?

I guess I must have a different definition of the word 'everything'.

      • Hey!

I don't actually work for Furla, sorry. So don't take what I say as gospel. Which store did you go to?

While I personally agree with you, as I understand it, the drawers are considered as "storage", whether it's behind the counter or on the floor, so it's not considered as "storewide" and therefore not a part of the sale.

If you've got any other questions I'll try to help you out, but as I said I don't actually work for Furla myself so I may be wrong.

        • Hi, thanks for answering.

IMO if it's for sale, it should be 50% off. Otherwise, if you don't want to discount it then don't advertise '50% off everything' or don't offer it for sale or even display it that weekend.

I thought you work for Furla as you are 'Associated'. What's your relationship with Furla if you don't mind me asking?

  • Has anyone received their email confirmation about their order yet? I bought one 2 days ago and still haven't received any confirmation email, plus they got the date of my order wrong on their website.

  • I told my wife about it and she checked online and liked a bag.

She went into the store and got a handbag, down from $750 to half that.

    She also got a wallet.

    Then also a belt.

Apparently they were reluctant to give her 50% off the wallet and they said it wasn't on sale (and tried to hide some stock at the back) but eventually gave it at half price. Is it a storewide 50% sale or not? I'm not sure why the staff were reluctant to give the full discount as it's not coming out of their own pockets. They also said that the chain for the handbag wasn't on sale.

I checked the receipt and we have to go back to get a small refund, the belt was originally $220 but was on sale at $130. The price should be $110 and not $130.

I'm going to get the refund and buy the chain at 50% off, this weekend.

    • I had the same problem. The staff gave me the biggest attitude for quibbling over a couple of dollars.

  • The sale is still on, online anyway

  • How long does the shipping take?

  • +1

Got one item delivered today, but a cancellation received for another due to "fulfilment error".

    • Did you get any shipping notice for the item that's delivered?

    • Got a message re "fulfilment error" too. Not happy

      • That's not good. When did you place order?

        • 1 week ago! Received an order confirmation at the time of placing order and payment deducted : (

        • @MsC1: I placed order last wed, haven't received anything except order confirmation.

    • Ordered last week and hasn't received anything apart from confirmation. Their customer service is definitely one of the worst though, very disappointed.

      • Strongly agree! !

    • I've sent 3 emails to their customer service email address and not gotten a single response.

To those still waiting for their order, this is what happened to me:
      1. got confirmation that both my orders went through on the day i completed the purchase online
      2. Few days later, I got an email saying one of my bags had shipped, and i received the bag on the same day.
      3. 4 days later, got an email saying there was a "fulfillment error" (no other explanation offered), and my 2nd bag was cancelled.

I'd advise everyone to check their credit card statements.
I got charged for the bag which was delivered, and then another $30 unexplained fee… so it's straight to amex for them to resolve as a disputed item.

Thankfully, they didnt take out any funds for the "fulfillment error".

      • I havent got the fulfillment error message yet, but I just checked my cc and I cant find Furla's charge anymore. BTW, I passed their store last Wednesday, it seems the sale is still on?

      • I emailed them but never got a reply, calling their customer service was just told that they have a lot of orders and they have to sort them out and to just wait. They've charged my credit card already, so not sure if they gonna ship my item.

        • I placed order on 18th of Jan, received shipping email yesterday afternoon and the bag is there after I got home, the packaging was very bad, the Auspost box was not even sealed. The credit card is charged today, weird. Luckily, I finally got it and the bag is fine.

        • @axu1: i got the delivery email yesterday and they sent it through express post, so hopefully will get it tomorrow. Kinda disappointed with the ordering experience but I guess thats what happen when you buy during sale period.

  • Btw anyone knows whether we can get gst refund if we ordered online? I saw the invoice and it says Ireland, so not sure if we still can get gst refund?
