Feral Sly Fox Summer Ale 16x 330ml - $15.25, Oranjeboom Lager 24x 330ml 17.50 @ Dan Murphy's (Kippa Ring, QLD)

130

Holy Moly, walked into Uncle Dans in Kippa Ring to be greated by a trolley stacked with cases of Sly Fox and another trolley with cases of Oranjeboom

both had use by dates of early Feb - but considering the heat in QLD at the moment it won't take long to drink them.

Looks like I picked the wrong weekend to quit drinking.

sly fox on DM page still $34.90

Crafty WA brewers, Feral have added a permanent fixture to their range, the Sly Fox - a sneaky little summer (all year round) ale that's light on its feet but still packs a punch of flavour. The beer is lightly filtered for a vibrant hoppy, citrus aroma with a clean bitterness that pairs perfectly with a hot summers day.

Oranjeboom on DM page still $32.90

Oranjeboom Premium Lager is a fully imported beer that is characterised by the typical northern European lager flavours of light malt and flavoursome hops. A great authentic sessional import.

Why where u walking into dans if you had quit drinking? Great deal BTW.

  • I would assume the bottled stuff has been marked for clearance due to Feral bringing out the canned version of Sly Fox.

    • lady at the checkout said they had cans of it on clearance for $1 each earlier

Good thing for the rest of us that you didn't realise that walking into Uncle Dans is not conducive to quitting drinking.

  • How do they taste? A 4 pack i picked up last week tasted a little metallic with no flavor profile, but extremely sharp and carbonated. Like soda water with a slice of lemon

    • very nice. on to my 4th. no metallic taste (which I'm well aware off. Uberbrau from 1st choice has it). flavour is good. enjoyable beer. you may have gotten a bad 4 pack?

      • Yeah, I think so. I've tasted them before, even had some over xmas, was very nice and fruity.

        • When I originally tried them they were decent, nice & smooth with fruit notes (god I sound like a wine (profanity)). Then, when they were on special at DM's a few weeks ago, I got he same as John, almost soda like taste & zero flavour profile.

  • It wouldn't be use by date, its probably best by, I've bought beer months past best by, not a problem, just hard to sell at full price.

    • I completely agree, but you need to be a little cautious with micro brews. I had some hop thief getting over fizzy as it approached best before as there is still some live yeast in the bottles adding carbonation slowly over time.

    Stock Update (following my pillage):

Oranjeboom: 8-10 cartons (Best before 29/1)

Sly Fox: 4-5 cartons (Best before April 2017)

The locals continued to throw their money away on overpriced domestic beer & all but me ignored the ridiculously cheap beer. Even the staff member was surprised (moreso since I drove from Brisbane) that I wanted it.

    Froth on lads.
