This has just been jail broken
Can now load another 80 or so games in it

    • -3

      80 or so games

      slow clap

    • At this point you really have to wonder why not get a much cheaper device that would work 10x better for retro gaming on the couch..

  • +1

Bought one. Been eyeing on it since the EBgames site crash. Thanks for the heads up!

  • Not a bargain. Belongs in forums.

  • +4

700 clicks in 20 minutes…OzBargainers like their Nintendo

    • +3

Resellers also love a bargain = profit :(

  • Awesome, missed all the times before, finally got it this time. Thanks :)

  • +1

Strange. I went into EB yesterday to ask when they will have some in stock and they said it wouldn't be for months as Nintendo is focusing on getting the switch console out by March. Anyways bought one :)

    • +5

EB employees know about as much as the average Gamespot reader. They have little to no actual insider knowledge.

    • More like the staff member didn't know head office were putting stock up for sale, ease up on the tin foil gate usage

      • Yes only head office knew about this new stock nothing was communicated to the stores at all.

  • +5

    And…. eBay bids cancelled😂😂😂

  • +13

Love how every time this comes up, people say "get a Raspberry Pi instead…" We get it, they're better, agreed. Now let us enjoy our NES minis in peace :)

      • -6

        Fools and their money.

        • Revoked your neg 👍

      • +9

Why do you care so much, to the point of insulting people? I want it because it's plug and play, I have kids now and no time to mess around with emulators. I grew up with NES and it will be fun to play mario with my kids. But now I'm mostly going to buy one just to spite you.

      • +1

you have one as a comparison? a lot of this has been about using an original style controller. Also a lot of the "solutions" are completely illegal

      • +1

Do you neg all software based Bargains being that people could download torrents and crack them? Or Blu-Ray's? Or Music CDs?

    • +2

      This.
While I prefer the Pi, and I don't quite understand the appeal of this console, I do appreciate the coolness of it, and whatever people choose to play with is none of my damn business if they're not playing with mine :D

Aaaand I may or may not have just ordered one :D

      • Plug and play is a big plus, then there's the whole "original" hardware aspect.

        • Its no more original than any of the others.
It run Linux inside, using open-source emulation software, and a generic Allwinner SoC. Only a tiny fraction of the code is Nintendo copyright.
Nintendo takes and takes, but refuses to give back.

        • @manic: Hence why "original" is in quotes :)

    • +1

Not to mention, it is illegal to download ROM and use it. Might as well just post piratebay links on ozbargain for free movie right?

    • As someone who likes accurate emulation I'd take this over a Pi any day! I doubt Nintendo's emulator is perfect but if anyone could write a good one it's them

  • Order one…. don't know why though lol

    • To sell on eBay and profit the professional ozbargaining way

      • +1

No. That's not the professional ozbargaining way.

I believe this site works because people are sharing… and with the aim to "save" money (and end up spending more), not to profit.

  • +1

It may not be a deal but a lot of people (like me) wanted one and couldn't get one so it's more a PSA.

It still should be listed on the front page so people actually see as well as so if they have a email subscription to notify about deals at EB (like me) they see it. Unlike the forums where they may not

    • If nobody goes to the forums, what are the forums for? Maybe OzBargain needs a specific PSA section for stuff like this. Because there is an increasing amount of deals that aren't deals, being posted as of late. And its clogging up the actual real deals with real savings.

      • Truth hurts it seems

  • Thanks op!

  • Wow, sold out already. This thing sells better than the Wii U

Target better brace themselves when they get stock back in.

    • +3

Raincoats in the dessert sell better than the WiiU.

      • +13

Why would you put a raincoat in your dessert?

        • +5

          You win.

  • it was in my cart then it sold out :(

  • Out of stock!!

  • thanks heaps for the heads up on this, highly appreciated even though its at RRP

  • Finally got one as well, thanks. I think I got the last one :)

  • May not be a bargain because it's RRP, but happy to be notified of this regardless. Thanks OP

    • -8

So this is OzNotify now is it?

      • -1

Lol why the negs? He's right. This isn't a website for in stock notifications. It's for bargains.

        • +4

It's almost 3 times cheaper than elsewhere. How is that not a bargain?

        • @kamoi:

If you compare to eBay then yeah sure, if you find it in stores like Target or something then it'd be the same price, that's if you're that lucky.

      • +1

I'm not happy it's a bargain, I'm happy it's available. I completely get your view (I'm just selfishly happy that I finally managed to get one)

    • How? I want to buy 1000000000 but can not

      • -1

        4 different accounts.

        Easy.

        • Dont forget eBay and Paypal fees ok?

        • +1

          @Turd:

Well the first 6 I got I sold all for $300+ so It still works out well ahead :)

        • @Turd: Hope he gets stuck with them.

        • @spuderump: Shoulda bought them when amazon.co.uk had them on sale for cheap? Buy 100 amazon will fillfill your order.

        • @gokhanh: nah he wont, demend is high on this one, even at rrp no loss it's a no brainer, much like property in Sydney

        • @Turd:

That's exactly what I did. 2x from Amazon and 2x from Base.com, when the GBP was at like .62 as well so only cost around $86 posted.

          Other 2 were sourced locally.

        • @spuderump: damm only 2? why not more?

        • @Turd: Back in the time when was unsure what demand and resell value would be.

        • @spuderump: haha, invest in a time machine~

      • +5

Openly being a broden and no upvote for OP? That's a paddlin'

    • haha nice one love watching people get angry and neg haha insert popcorn eating meme

    • +1

Geez resellers. Think about those that really want one to play?

  • Lest now I know we have many Nintendo fans!

  • Ooops….refresh…. and order went through :)

  • Had it in my cart, refreshed OzB and saw you guys mentioned it was out of stock.
Clicked to checkout and it didn't remove it from my cart so I put the order through. Fingers crossed!

  • -2

shouldnt be posted as a deal which i why it was posted on the forum first.

i got two myself after multiple failed attempts when eb site crashed multiple times.

    • I thought it was one per customer? How'd you manage to get two?

I just missed it. Guess I'll have to wait for Target now :(

      • two accounts

  • Ninten-DOH!

  • Where can I get an extra controller?

  • +2

The killler Nintendo console, beware Sony and Microsoft.

  • +2

Bought it when it got on the forums earlier. Maybe I'll have buyers remorse, but at least I know there will be plenty of OZB people who will buy it from me at the same price I bought it (because I'm not a Broden f-wit).

    • sell it to me - PLEASE!!!

      • Msg me in a couple of months lol :)

  • +1

Ordered one earlier today (about 12PM). To me it is a deal, considering the scalpers out there selling for $200+ on eBay.

  • that's classic….. man. i missed out

  • +1

Still can't believe these things are so popular. I've been using emulators for about 20 years and I barely touched a nes emulator. Theres so many better games to be emulated on snes instead.

  • +2

    Damn missed it again

  • Off topic, but interested to hear others thoughts on comparing emulation between Wii and Raspberry Pi 3.

  • +3

Damn hipsters paying 99$ for that, get a rapsbery and emulate it.

I'm so cool that I'm playing with an oscilloscope… Daaaayum right get that curve up and down

    • why bother with the rapsbery u can even do that on android phones…heck maybe even iphones :P

    • Not everyone's a tech junkie. This is plug and play and hassle free for many.

  • +2

Ignore the haters. We bought it!!

    This is not a Deal?

No but it helps a lot of people missed their chance during EB site crash.

Yes because at least we don't have to buy on eBay and Gumtree with ridiculous prices.

  • +4

Just because the price is RRP doesn't mean it's not considered a bargain. The fact that these are near impossible to get and the demand has been ridiculously high for the past few months, makes this 100% a up-vote worthy deal because you'd be paying ~$300 to get this via any other means right now.

    • +1

Never heard of a bargain that is full retail regardless of it being hard to get…..

      • +1

        That's a fair comment.

But I think ozbargain has identified the term 'bargain' with the items RRP too seriously in this case.

Oxford Dictionary definition: A thing bought or offered for sale much more cheaper than is usual or expected.

I think we can all agree that in this case, the NES is being offered for sale much more cheaper than usual/expected.
Given that the only source that we can find stocking the NES is ebay/gumtree, at which point the price is a lot more than $100 RRP.

It's similar to the recent Xiaomi 10,000Mah V2 Powerbanks @Shopping square. Yes its been cheaper than $25 before, but that was from China, after a 4 week delivery time. The recent ebay sale was around $26 but stock was from Sydney, meaning ~5 days shipping. I think most would consider this a bargain, regardless of the price.

That's just my view on it though, not trying to start a fight or anything. Just offering perspective.

        • +1

I understand Jacky thats your perspective i respect it i am just going to counter as to how i see it …Mine is that $99 is the RRP anyone else selling them are the same as scalpers
at $300 its not a bargain at $99 its not a bargain just because someone buys it for $99 then on sells it for a pumped up price does not make the $99 RRP all of a sudden bargain….It still RRP

there hard to get because Nintendo are creating short supply to market it helps to keep the price at maximum it also creates a perception they people will die if they cant get one… Its the amiibos all over again and it seems to be Nintendo's standard practice of marketing these days

        • @Ken Worth:

Ah.. I see. That's pretty reasonable actually. Cheers for the solid responses.. rarely do we NOT see a full flame war going on in the comments around here.

        • +1

@jaackyy: Yes its unfortunate isn't it comments turn into flame fests or name calling ,anyway hope you land some awesome bargains in 2017

  • It will be a deal now since its sold out.. check out ebay lol

    • +1

Understand the childhood memory bit, in fact, I want to buy it for $100 (but kept on missing out on it). Having said that, don't understand why someone would pay more than $150 for such console. The nutters on ebay are asking $300+, gotta be kidding.

  • +1

Get in quick before the articially limited supply is exhaust… Oh nevermind.

  • -1

Nope not a bargain its RRP

    • -1
      • thanks for the heads up on the rules ………admin can take the neg off

Still RRP is not a bargain and never will be regardless of how hard an item is to obtain

      • +3

It is, it's regular price, there's no discount, those guys on eBay are just making profit from people who can't find it.

      • If it's RRP, where are other stores with stock? Its not RRP is it? If you don't wish to buy it, move along like the rest of here in Ozbargain

  • EDIT: Already discussed ;)

  • Ahh gotta love nintendos distribution model..
